The only thing that's really closed about it is the Windows Store and it only has metro apps. I don't use metro apps so it doesn't bother me.

Windows 7 comes with a set of Windows games like Minesweeper and Solitaire. You never use them, but they're still there.

XP would be a huge downgrade, Vista SP2 is great but 7 is still better.
