recycle bin is there for convenience, otherwise i don't keep anything on my desktop (it's mostly just a temporary storage if i need to extract something from an archive or something like that)
i don't use rainmeter at all, i find that i'm not really ever looking at my desktop for long periods, so i uninstalled it

If you're going to use the skin I advice you to use hot keys for stuff, for instance it is pretty tideous changing playlists so I've made it so that when I press 1 on the keyboard it goes to a playlist with drum and bass and if I press 2 it goes to an electro playlist or something like that.
Also, make sure that the "always send new files to playlist" feature is checked under prefrences (CTRL + P) this would be found under the "shell integration" option in prefrences. If you don't have this checked you might end up deleting an awesome playlist you've made.

Cleaned it up, now I don't have any ugly desktop icons for my games, I like to put them there because I'm always playing different ones and they change week by week while my application choices are more permanent and remain pinned to my taskbar/start menu. I just set up a little rocketdock thing to show me a nice stack of my games, think it's more elegant than a folder.
