Oh wow, my iPod app is stuck at "Canceling sync" even after restarting the iPad.
First bug found in beta 2 so far.

Oh god, that happened to me too. Pissed me off. I just resynced my music and everything was fine.

So just connecting it to iTunes should fix it?
[editline]05:46AM[/editline]
Hmm, I started iTunes and it didn't get fixed.
Then I played a song off of the iPad through iTunes and that got the sync message going, then Updating Library, then now it works. Sweet. :v:
So what will iOS 4.2 bring?
- Printing
- iAd
- Improved iPad support
So what will iOS 4.2 bring?

Multitasking, all the features that 4.0 brought for iPhone, little things that make all the difference in the world like improved mail with unified inboxes, improved Calendar sync support, etc.
What I would love for the next update is not have to play a song from your ipod while connected to Itunes in order to prevent it from not having any content. It's annoying having to play a song from my Ipod in itunes after adding new music if I want to be able to listen to it on the go!
So how will iPhone 3GS user like me benefit from this?
Not at all.
BUT I HOPE TO GOD THEY FIXED THE BATTERY DRAINAGE ON 3G IPHONES
I wonder if that even can be fixed, the battery life on 3G phones should be naturally going down after few years.
I wonder if that even can be fixed, the battery life on 3G phones should be naturally going down after few years.
Yeah, but I bought mine 7 months ago.
Yes, but your phone must be older than 7 months, right?
[editline]10:39PM[/editline]
Oh wait, they were still sold then. Never mind then.
[editline]10:40PM[/editline]
Yeah, odd. How come that iOS 4.1 drains the battery if it has slower hardware and no multitasking?
So how will iPhone 3GS user like me benefit from this?
Bugfixes, AirPlay, printing, optimization, battery life.
whats airplay btw?
Media over WiFi in a local network AFAIK

Bluetooth transfers are slow as fuck... :/
Streaming would be a joke, unless it's some new Bluetooth spec like 3.0 or something...
No, your device just hates you.

Ah, turns out I was wrong. It silently does it over Wi-Fi instead.
Bluetooth is more than good enough for high quality audio, though. I bought a Belkin Music Receiver (bluetooth reciever, pretty much) that my iDevices connect to as a stereo headset, and 4.2 classifies it as AirPlay, so that's why I assumed it was only bluetooth.

Bluetooth is shit
Bluetooth is shit
It's fine for audio streaming.
iOS 4.2 beta 3 came out today.
So far, nothing too different noticed on the iPad. Apparently it adds more SMS sounds for iPhone 4 though (that's right. 4, not 3GS, not 3G.)
I'm going to go ahead and also conclude that it's a bit faster as well. Folders and the multitasking bar don't lag open like they used to in Beta 1 and 2. Printing via shared printers is still hit-and-miss; sometimes it finds the printer, sometimes it doesn't.
also itunes 10.1 beta 2 has been released

How can this be achieved with a software update?
by faking it
[editline]15th October 2010[/editline]
just like with the "whoops we calculated the signal strength wrong" software fix

Except that the update brought a new signal calculation method, and the change to the signal bars are to represent them more accurately.
It's just like Bluetooth, it's mostly software so they can update it to get better signal.
It's not much, but worth doing.
How can this be achieved with a software update?
The only way I can think of is by firmware optimization.
Makes sense. You can never have enough 3G coverage
Any info on what devices the signal will be improved?
