So how do you lock screen rotation now?
iPhone style- double click to open multitask bar, scroll left, hit orientation lock. Personally, I think it's fucking stupid provided that muting was never really an issue. Holding down the volume down button for half a second makes it jump to mute. Not to mention this useless mute feature seems to not do shit because I still get sound with the iPad muted. Bad, bad mistake. Whoever was in charge of it needs to fucking die.
iPad screen rotation lock switch is converted into a sound/silent switch in iOS 4.2 (Just like on the iPhones) the fuc. no I want my screen lock back, f off 4.2 [editline]18th October 2010[/editline] at least someone on the cydia repos will change the new "mute" button to orientation lock.
Ugh, where the fuck is beta 4?
iOS 4.2 GM is now out. Mostly bugfixes and optimization, I suppose. Time to go see what apps work or don't work. EDIT: Some visual changes. First, there's now a volume slider when you scroll left on the multitask bar, as well as a brightness slider. Both of them also sport a new slider knob.
volume slider is redundant(most media apps and games have their own, not to mention the buttons on the side), brightness is a nice addition, though. kind of gotten sick of having to quickswitch to the settings menu just to adjust the brightness
I see Apple is trying to make SBSettings redundant
Brightness slider has existed since beta 1. It's funnily enough the volume slider that is new.
How does one get their hands on the beta?
I'm sure someone will create an iPad Screen Rotation lock hack soon after it comes out. I hope.

Whoever though double tapping home, scrolling left, and tapping (most of the time in the wrong orientation) is easier than flicking a switch needs to fucking disappear. [editline]2nd November 2010[/editline]
How does one get their hands on the beta?
This GM apparently doesn't require you to be on the developer program. Just Google it then, I suppose. Hold down shift and click on Update to avoid losing your files. You may find that when the final 4.2 comes out, iTunes will still think you have up to date 4.2, but shift-click should still let you "upgrade" to the final version. Just a heads-up 'cause I've seen a lot of people restore because they forgot about the functionality. You do need the iTunes beta (beta 2 likely), I think, to update to 4.2, however, but it should also be easy to find.
