No because by the time you login the commercials would be over.

For those kinds of things I'd much rather use the iPhone OS and imo the touchscreen interface is much better than a trackpad.
I see what you're saying about the 4:3 but most netbooks have a tiny ass screen and so it wouldn't make that much of a difference anyway.
stop using a 5 year old emachine
I give up. Why not just stay out of the iPad threads and go buy yourself a nice laptop. My point is:
People shouldn't be going as far as calling it useless. It's not.

Plus sexy color.
I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a gadget. If you want something that isn't a hatefully overhyped redundant piece of shit and instead has a clear purpose, but is slower to boot and runs an OS made by EVIL MICROSOFT go for a laptop. If you want a cross between a neutered tablet PC and a moderately upgraded and impractical iphone, but it's shiny and made by apple, get an iPad.

You seem to be under the impression that no laptop in the world ever has a rich, high resolution display. Stop watching apple commercials, you seem to be far too impressionable.
Didn't I like tell you 15 minutes ago to get off the high horse of yours? No I'm not under the impression of anything. You seem to be under the impression everything I say I'm saying it like it's exclusive. Well guess what: No, I'm not. Fuck.
Usually bigger things should be cheaper.
Like a desktop should be cheaper than a laptop of the same specs.
I'm not on a high horse. I can see the good points of the ipad over a laptop. It just so happens it only has one. I own an incredibly shit netbook, which probably costs abut a fifth of the price of the ipad, but I can do an exponentially higher amount of things on it than I can do on the big iphone, plus I don't have to use apple's shitty proprietary software, for it, ever.

What does that even mean? The relationship between an iphone and an ipad is different to the relationship between a laptop and a desktop.
All I see is everyone bandwagoning.
All I want is a small mobile computer (not a smart phone)that has a long battery life.
There is no other tablet out there at the moment that satisfies what I need. I'd get an iPad.
(HP Slate and JooJoo are both a bit of a mess at the moment, offering subpar battery life)
However, in a few months if there was a new tablet, say Microsoft Courier, I would be more likely to go buy one of those.
When I purchased my iPod touch, I think all I was really after was something like the iPad. :sigh:
Laptops can be just as casual as the iPad plus do a mountain of more tasks. Casual doesn't mean a thing when you waste money on a device that could be spent on a thing that can do a hell of a lot more.
Bring the price down to $200 and then it'll be worth it.
Everything that makes the iPad "good" is the apps. Same with the iPhone. Both devices are pretty bad but they simply have the largest market.
I wouldn't say they're bad; they're just rather unremarkable in terms of specs. The same philosophy applies over any hardware Apple does.
Thanks for posting these videos. I don't think it's so stupid anymore. I still wouldn't pay over 200 dollars for it though.
expecting it for less than $300, no matter the manufacturer, is retarded.
I don't get how "really big iPod touch" is an insult. The iPhone and iPod Touch are great devices, having a bigger screen is awesome.

Yeah. SOOOOOOO worth the extra $400.

can't say that really since it has yet to be released. but then again that's you personal opinion, I wouldn't say anything until I get to try out both.

So true. The software/os is going to be what makes it a success/failure.

exactly.
So true. The software/os is going to be what makes it a success/failure.
And the HP Slate wins in that regard.
Still overpriced, though.
Personally, I agree with PieClock. The iPad is for those people who go all day just browsing the web, like soccer moms and grandparents. I don't think Apple designed the iPad for facepunchers, they designed it for people who thought the iPod Touch and the iPhone were too small or stupid or inconvenient, or for those who were just introduced to technology and the internet.

It's probably to pay off the advertising and just for the sake of the fact that they can.
True. Jobs probably thought during production "Oh hey I forgot about the Apple Tax. Whatever, throw 300 more dollars into the thing, then I can afford that new turtleneck sweater that I've been eyeing."
Yeah. SOOOOOOO worth the extra $400.
Stop jumping to conclusions. You clearly haven't even tried one yet. A bigger screen is hardly the only thing different about it. There's already a shitload of apps that are amazing on the big screen.

The iPad is actually significantly cheaper than everyone was expecting, and not that much more expensive than other tablets (especially when you consider it is an Apple product)
once they fix the wifi and a jailbreaking tool has been released to the public i'm getting one.

I didn't and I have.
So I head the iPad doesn't get iPhone OS 4 until Fall...
Apple could have designed a better slide for that announcement since it was WIDE open to abuse:

:buddy:
I can't wait for the slate, seriously the iPhone has apps, are you all aware that a very large chunk of these are free flash games available on the internet.
More than likely the HP one will have flash support, so most of everything will be free.
