I can't wait for the slate, seriously the iPhone has apps, are you all aware that a very large chunk of these are free flash games available on the internet. More than likely the HP one will have flash support, so most of everything will be free.
You don't know much about anything, do you?
You don't know much about anything, do you?
Except he's right.
Except he's right.
Comparing the iPhone apps to flash apps available on the internet is just plain idiotic. Not only are there many limitations to flash that negate the validity of such comparison, but the performance of flash, specifically on a small tablet or netbook, is very insufficient and isn't even close to being on par with the performance of AppStore apps.

Apple aren't going on about hardware because the end user doesn't give a fuck as long as it can provide the smooth experience that Apple usually provides. As people have said countless times, it's the software. The interface. The experience of it all.
A small Slate running an OS made for full-size hardware is just stupid. Windows 7, regardless of how much faster it is than Vista, is still going to be piss slow on this device, and the argument that more shit is compatible for Windows 7 than for iPhoneOS goes out the fucking window when you realize that you can't run shit without everything lagging. [editline]09:54PM[/editline] And waiting 3-5 minutes to start it every time you want to use it versus the half a second that the iPad needs, and you can start seeing why it's so successful.
I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a gadget. If you want something that isn't a hatefully overhyped redundant piece of shit and instead has a clear purpose, but is slower to boot and runs an OS made by EVIL MICROSOFT go for a laptop. If you want a cross between a neutered tablet PC and a moderately upgraded and impractical iphone, but it's shiny and made by apple, get an iPad. You seem to be under the impression that no laptop in the world ever has a rich, high resolution display. Stop watching apple commercials, you seem to be far too impressionable.
I disagree entirely. I'm considering buying one, and already have a netbook. Why? Because the iPad is midrange between the Netbook and phone. I see it as a tool for when you don't wanna bring a netbook/when you don't need a full fledged OS, but when an iPod or PMP isn't enough. I'd still use my Zune. I'd still use my netbook. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't enjoy having an iPad for travel or for just hanging out away from my PC. If I need to bring a full OS and workhorse PC, I'll bring my netbook to where I need to go. But if I just wanna listen to music, dick around with some apps and read some books, I don't see why the iPad wouldn't be a good choice.
I can't believe they released the iTampon (iPad) without OS 4.0. It comes with 3.2, and that's just disappointing.

I would want a stable iPad over a unstable one regardless the multitasking features and stuff when you can just wait a few more months.
The iPad is actually significantly cheaper than everyone was expecting, and not that much more expensive than other tablets (especially when you consider it is an Apple product)
I was just speaking in terms of the price markup. Regardless of criticisms, I'm going to pick it up for my parents when they release it in Canada.
