Sadly mine isn't original, as you can see by the previous page. But I realized I had me good old Pokemon Blue sitting around, so I figured hey, I want to give this a shot. Disassembled the cartridge, and cut the plastic out. Sadly the game had a battery which I had to remove for it all to fit, so it no longer works as far as I know:
Also, because I can:
That made me laugh. And laugh. And then laugh a bit more.

Don't worry, if it was just the battery removed, it ought to work (As long as the flash drive isn't shorting out something or other), just won't have a working game-timer, which is pretty useless in R/B/Y anyhow.
Gentlemen, SharkDrive:
You had better be wearing your safety goggles. How many mW is it? They didn't even have a timer until gold/silver.

They didn't even have a timer until gold/silver.
I was, certified pair from OEM Laser Systems. I don't have a laser power meter, but I'd say it's somewhere in the range of 120-140mW, guessing from the current driven (graphs). Forgot about saves, you'd think those would be put on some non-volatile memory, I don't get why it needs the battery for that. There is a little game time counter when you load your save though, even in R/B/Y.
I did this cause I didn't have any scissors and can't think of any better ideas. It's not glued because I'll hopefully use the same drive for something better soon. Now you can play football with a crappy mini-football-stress-toy-thing AND store data! How convenient! P.S. Sorry about the cellphone photos. It was the only camera I could get right now.
are people even trying?
are people even trying?
Not a lot you can do with no scissors.
Not a lot you can do with no scissors.
And the sharkdrive is kinda to epic.
Extending the competition another week. End date is now 9/17/10. Also allowing previous mods to be posted. Prize is now $30.
MTMod, is it previous mods to be posted but the same person cannot win with the same mod?
MTMod, is it previous mods to be posted but the same person cannot win with the same mod?
That sentance makes no sense to me.
:saddowns: Why would you do such a thing?
No gameboy to play it, plus I have Red laying around as well, played far more into Red. So yeah, I mean I'd say it sill works really.

I think the battery idea was ok. Mine still has it's charge, 12 years later. Besides, real flash memory back then would have cost to much to mass produce into the carts.
That sentance makes no sense to me.
Can mods that won before win again if that makes more sense

Why?
THat was my first GameBoy Color game! Why?
Same here, but since I have roms of it on my phone, iPod, PSP, and computer, I think cartridge games are a bit obsolete. I still kept my first Gameboy color and Pokemon Red though.
Can mods that won before win again if that makes more sense
No I don't think that's fair. Non-winning past entries are allowed.
Same here, but since I have roms of it on my phone, iPod, PSP, and computer, I think cartridge games are a bit obsolete. Emulators can't provide the same experience as an actual game boy. Sadly I've lost all my old pokemon games over the years, this Silver I got from my friend. It's actually a good chance it was originally mine.
Hooray participation!

Did you make it?
Did you make it?
Highly doubt it. Lack of building photos and the white background of the photo.

Contest ends today. Shall we extend it further or no? If anyone has a mod planned I'd be happy to extend it.
Contest ends today. Shall we extend it further or no? If anyone has a mod planned I'd be happy to extend it.
I think it should end today. But the SharkDrive gets my vote.
