Explain why giving it less to do will use more energy. I'd really like to hear this.
he is using whatever he can to bash and bash and bash, no matter how fucking stupid he sounds when he says it. boo, it has to check if an app is signed! that uses SO MUCH MORE PROCESSING POWER and drains your battery in a heartbeat!
giving it less to do won't use more energy and i never said anything even close to that, but he's being stupid.
Is there something like SBSettings that doesn't rape the battery?
Going to the settings menu whenever you want to fiddle with things
The reason it uses so much battery is because it has to be running all the time. The reason people use it is because it's running all the time

UISettings for iOS5, when it comes out.
Congratulations. Get the KGB app if it's still there.
If it's the iPhone 4, I recommend using it as a digital camera. It's really good quality. The only thing I wish it had was optical zoom. Although some cases come with lenses over the camera, so it zooms a little, but that's pretty cumbersome.

I wouldn't recommend using any phone as a digital camera, not even the N8.
Well it depends what you are using the photographs for. If you're doing professional photography you will want an actual digital camera. If you're doing photography as a student project or for something like deviantart then a smartphone camera such as the iPhone 4's is suitable.

Phones are some of the most use cameras ever, now. The iPhone 4 is the most popular camera on Flickr.

It also usually takes the worst pictures. resolution != quality.

That doesn't mean it's good. McDonalds is probably the place where most burgers are consumed, but that doesn't make them any less shitty.
The camera is their for convenience it's not to take professional sharp pictures. It's for casual use like a family day out or at a party. I hardly ever use the camera. For me it's games, phone/texting, GPS and web.
Iphone 4 can take some nice photo's given the correct lighting already and if you know how to use the focus on it.
Video wise it's extremely nice.
It kind of replaces a lot of point and shoots out there. Not to mention those Flip cameras or whatever.
just remember to hold it sideways or else you get a stupid looking video
It kind of replaces a lot of point and shoots out there. Not to mention those Flip cameras or whatever.
Well, point and shoots do produce better pictures in most cases, since they still have an actual sensor and shutter.
But for casual use, cell phones still win out due to the fact they are pretty damn convenient, and produce acceptable quality pictures (provided it has enough light). When something really random happens, and you don't expect it, which will you most likely have, a real camera, or a cell phone? In most cases for most people, the fact that you have it recorded, is more important than the actual quality.

Don't recall saying it was good. I was saying that plenty of people take pictures with it.

While ordinarily this analogy would work fine, Flickr isn't exactly a run of the mill photo sharing site. It does place an emphasis on more professional shots. Now of course there is nothing stopping people from uploading crap, but that the iPhone 4 is the most popular camera on a site which focuses on actual photography as opposed to simply pictures, speaks volumes about it's quality. It's no DLSR, but it's an awful lot better than you might expect.
Should have waited for iPhone 5

I've seen pictures from the iPhone 4, and they are better than your average 5 MP phone camera, I'll gladly admit that. I'll just make another comparison: While DeviantArt is made for people doing art and shit, many users is fairly bad anyway. I'm not on either of these sides, but I'm sure that people taking pictures for the sake of good-picture making, will not be satisfied with an iPhone 4, and those who are satisfied with are probably either just ~aRtiStiC~ or not very serious about it. It's good enough for taking everyday pictures at parties and such, but I don't see it replacing even a point-and-shoot, and I' wouldn't expect a phone to do so, either.

You kind of completely went around his point. DeviantArt doesn't have an emphasis on the quality of work, it's kind of full of shit. There is PLENTY of people on Flickr who use an iPhone 4 (or any other fucking phone) to take "professional" shots, and are totally serious about it.

Fair enough, but then I'm sure those people wish they even had a normal digital camera. The iPhone is meant to be (like pretty much any other phone out there) something you whip out and take a photo with, not something you go out and take serious photographs with, without wishing for a a DSLR or even a digital camera. If you're just a bit serious about taking pictures, and you aren't completely broke, you go get atleast a digital camera. There may be skilled persons on Flickr that takes pictures with their iPhone, but you're not gonna get me to believe that they don't wish for a "real" camera. I said that I wasn't on either site, so sorry for that I got that wrong.
In my opinion the iPhone 4 takes great pictures for a phone you can't really complain. Yeah, sometimes the phone does go out of focus and the pictures aren't always that sharp. But c'mon it's a phone with many other features built into it.
I like the camera yeah it has it's flaws but it's the best camera I've had and I own a digital camera as well.
Why do I pick it over my digital camera? It's portable I never leave the house without my iPhone even if I'm going out for 10 minutes. If something cool or interesting happens I can quickly take a picture with one hand rather than take out my big chunky camera.
All in all those putting it down are just being over the top about it and those saying it's better than dedicated digital cameras are over hyping it. I will say it's better than some cameras maybe those priced around £70 to £100 digital cameras. But I wouldn't use it for journalism or model shooting. It's for casual use.

Then we totally agree, I never said the camera was shit r anything like that, only that it was better than the standard.
I think that if you use it properly it can take pretty damned good photos:

Yeah it is the most impressive camera phone I have ever owned. I would pick carrying it over any other digital camera.
I plan on getting all the photos I take on it. Going on a zombie walk simply makes life easier to get those memorable moments to share

Do you see that mother fucking fucker there? He's called noise, and he's gonna mother fucking rape yo' photos. Do you see him? Because you gonna have to recognize him next, or he'll hurt a mother fucking much.

That noise looks like it was an added effect, but under low-lighting conditions noise can be quite visible

It doesn't look like an added effect to me, and why would you?
Doesn't the iPhone flash tinge the pictures yellow too?
