9800GT basically
Okay, 1 last thing, a dxdiag wouldn't give you my motherboard info would it?
http://www.ebuyer.com/product/177121 4670 1 GB since you have a high resolution. Anyway, 9800GT is out of your range but it is better. Also you might need a new PSU, and if you can't afford one I would get a lower power consuming card.
Looking at this, it doesn't look good.
Yeah, it's Dell so don't expect them to give you info on the motherboard. Anyway, you can't check what your PSU is electronically or whatever. Besides, I know for sure it is going to be 250 watts or so. I guess the best thing would be to get a 9500GT, 4550, 4350, or another 8600GT.
Why not get a 9600GT?
Found out I have a 300W PSU *sigh*
New computer? Yeah... New computer
New computer? Yeah... New computer
Really wish I could, but I'm 15 and don't have the $$
Found out I have a 300W PSU *sigh*
4670 should run fine on that [editline]10:16PM[/editline] I'm pretty sure a 4670 would use less power than an 8600
4670 should run fine on that [editline]10:16PM[/editline] I'm pretty sure a 4670 would use less power than an 8600
Is 4670 better than a 8600gt?
I doubt this is accurate any more because 2 years of driver improvements will have changed things, but yeah

Unless anyone has any better ideas (This one is £57) http://www.ebuyer.com/product/177121
I had the 512mb version of that 4670, it's a pretty good card. go to my YouTube to see it it's performance with a Pentium Dual Core E6300 and 4gb RAM DDR2, should be a little more or less of what you could possibly get.
Don't buy anything other than a whole new computer. And yes, by that I do mean build it yourself.
Or maybe, you know, he can't afford it. Otherwise he'd be asking for a list of parts.
I didn't say to buy a new computer now; I said that no upgrade right now is going to make a big improvement so he should wait until he can afford a new system. But, if he thinks that he can magically get better quality gameplay with just a new video card, then he can go ahead and buy one.

His 8600GT died so he needs a graphics card to last him until he makes a new build.
Found out I have a 300W PSU *sigh*
Had the same problem, although it was a 8600 GTS, I got a 4670, runs fine with 300W.
So dual core and a clock speed of 2.8ghz isn't enough? And I forgot to note, I have Windows 7 Home Premium and the ram is DDR2
Core 2 Duo clocked at 3.6ghz hardly helped me or made any difference from the default 3ghz. GTA4 has pretty steep cpu requirements. An overclocked low end core i7 with a 8600GT will be all you need to run GTA4 maxed out with a very playable framerate if I may recall.
I heard the 4670 1GB Requires 400W+ power supply, is this correct? And how do I know I am purchasing the correct power supply for my computer? And if I do need a 400W supply has anyone got any cheap and good links for one on ebuyer? Take note of my other specs too: AMD Athlon X2 5600+ 2.8ghz 2GB Ram DDR2

Upgrading your PSU would also do no good, as it most likely won't fit in the stupid ass dell case.
I like how this faggot OP ignores ATi. [editline]01:24PM[/editline] This. Get an AM3/AM2+/AM2 motherboard and reuse your RAM.
What the hell is ATi?
just get http://www.ebuyer.com/product/181962, a 4670 really doesn't need 1GB because it'll perform like shit at resolutions high enough that 512 isn't enough
Thats the exact same I bought, except for I bought mine in the netherlands. :brofist: [editline]08:45PM[/editline]
just get http://www.ebuyer.com/product/181962, a 4670 really doesn't need 1GB because it'll perform like shit at resolutions high enough that 512 isn't enough
You do know the difference is like 5 pounds right..

except you're not going to need the extra 0.5GB so it's an extra £5 spent on something that will give no benefits
What the hell is ATi?
AMD can kill the name, but not the soul. :denmark:
