This is an opinion, you can find laptops that can easily match up to some mid-end desktops.
Sure their gonna cost 3x as mucc, but just as good.
Gaming wise though, you never really want to use a laptop, simply because it will destroy a laptop (like, melt it after time).

You will spend $1000-$1500 dollars to buy a laptop that can play games but you will not spend 700-1000 dollars on a desktop?
I spent $900.
And, it's not my problem I didn't get the choice on where to go.
If it was up to me, this thread wouldn't exist, and I'd be happily sitting playing games like Fallout3 or Crysis.
Why did you buy a laptop your game with it, I know there are gaming laptops but they are huge.

Im sure you could sell the laptop for more than 500$ if it cost that much.
That could give you a desktop (without monitor) with pretty good gaming power.
