If you see it happen again, pm me, might be able to give it a quick test in the lab if I have spare time.
Thanks, I should get it back / a new one next week
This is an absolutely excellent PSU. So no worry's there.
(Exept if its broken of course)
The BSoD's started when I got the R9, everything was fine with the R7 ( except for it being quite old and really noisy)
My Sapphire 7870 OC had the black screen issue, which basically caused my computer to crash at most random times. Sometimes every week, sometimes every few months. Apparently that was a problem that a lot of people had.
Not trying to say that Sapphire's quality is considerably bad, but by RMA'ing it you probably did the right thing.
Yeah, sapphire is generally considered to be the best of AMD card manufacturers. Unfortunately every brand has batches with some lemons.

Uhhh... yeah no, if you want best for AMD cards you go for MSI, Gigabyte or XFX. Sapphire is pretty bad because they use cheap parts and rushed production methods. Their QA is poor as well but at least they have ok support and will replace a card if it is faulty, they just tend to ship faulty cards.
For AMD cards you really should avoid Sapphire, they are cheap for a good reason.

Absolutely not. Sapphire cards are very highly regarded now. Up until the 7000ish series this was not the case. It goes Sapphire top, MSI and XFX second. Gigabyte really doesn't make great AMD cards. XFX has been really shoddy on the VRM cooling though lately.
Let's have a discussion on how many people I know have had to return a Sapphire card.
Especially about my Sapphire HD7790 Dual-X OC.
You know as well as I do the 7790 doesn't count.

The only cooler XFX had that provided shoddy cooling to the VRM was the 2nd generation double dissipation cooler, the new 3rd generation corrects that issue.
