Laptop for college, $2000 budget, never bought one before

I give another +1 for the Dell XPS 13. Pretty good specs with great battery life. Plus it only weighs 2.6 pounds. Just don't expect to do heavy gaming on it though.

Don't expect portability or battery-life out of an 17 inch laptop (or any 980m) They aren't the kind of things you ever want to move.
