My shop STILL gets Samsung drives in because people buy them as they are piss cheap and they either overheat and burn out or SMART fails them for read errors and other mechanical/surface failures.
And how many disks does Samsung sell, compared to other manufacturers? And the age of the disks? see where I'm going? or do I need to explain that?
Just a quick comparison between a Raid0 Volume using my motherboards onboard NvRaid, and my Spinpoint f3b(Boot Drive), quite interesting.

yeah, steam dling updates during my benchmark made my read speed dip quite a bit [editline]2nd February 2011[/editline] here's mine: the aformentioned dip is from steam deciding to download updates at this very moment
the fuck is with that samsung drive [editline]2nd February 2011[/editline] anyway i'm gonna go run this on my main and only drive
It started a defrag part way through which absolutely destroyed the results.
This is my results on the "ocz ssd vertex 3 120g". They look pretty good, but im wondering if I can check somehow if it´s correctly installed? Because the computer don´t feel that quick that I thought it would.
Samsung Spinpoint F3 HD103SJ
This is how the drive is holding up a year later: Ignore the low minimum rate I was accessing my photos folder to send to a friend. And this is my second HD103SJ which I bought around September last year. First is used for OS + Games, second is used for Apps and Important data which is set to backup to my sisters PC, and also syncs with dropbox. Opening folders? Running games? Boot-time?
Please define what feels slow? Opening folders? Running games? Boot-time?
Starting the computer, starting games, overall using the computer. I can´t feel so much difference from my old HDD. I have the operative system installed on the ssd.

My good old IDE HDD, Samsung SpinPoint T133 (400GB). My newer, still pretty old SATA HDD, Samsung Spinpoint F3 (1TB). And finally my new SSD, OCZ Vertex 3 (60GB). (Too bad I can't use my SATA3 port at the moment.)
you are all plebeians
Yeah... ramdisks aren't permanent storage. Besides posting them was cool last year: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1048927?p=27506083&viewfull=1#post27506083
Um ramdisk throws your content on your hdd at shutdown and automatically puts it back into the ram at system startup so yes ramdisk is permenant
Um ramdisk throws your content on your hdd at shutdown and automatically puts it back into the ram at system startup so yes ramdisk is permenant
No, the ramdisk is not permanent if you got halfway through working on something and the power tripped you would lose all data saved to the ramdisk that wasn't saved to the image on the hard disk. The ramdisk image on the hard drive may be permanent when the ramdisk syncs to it at shutdown sure. But the ramdisk itself is volatile.
Is this good?
