Tough call. In theory, the GameCom 777's are best, bt I can't seem to find any actual technical info on them. I would go with the Razer headset, given it's SNR and sensitivity.
Creative Fatality.
I've had it for a long long time, hasn't let me down yet. Has a detatchable microphone and is a comfy headset.

I have one, and I hate it.
I lost the mic every day.

Worth a shot.

That can't be comfortable.
I own the Siberias but I can honestly say they are not worth the money. The mic is annoying as hell to use, and the sound quality isn't any better than my old microsoft headset. They are extremely comfortable, however.

They are.
Plantronics .Audio series.
Fuck everything else.
I'll go with the GameCon 777.

Great choice.
Bought.
Wow, it was on a really decent sale, too.
nice choice, I have the 377 and they're great, the 777 couldn't be bad.
Big mistake. You really need to at least try the GameCom 777 before you buy, since it's awkward design makes it incredibly uncomfortable for some people to wear (like me). Hopefully, you'll get lucky and they'll fit perfectly fine. Also, don't bother using the USB adapter, because the virtual 5.1 surround sound is absolutely horrible.
It's hard to go wrong with SteelSeries as long as it's not the 3H.
Hahahahaha.
No. Fuck you, the 3H is a perfectly good headset, I'm using one right now and it's fine. Had it for almost a year now.

Nope, the USB makes the sound quality noticeably better. It's not a gimmick like some think.

3H is fine. I own them. They make your ears bit sore after prolonged use the first few days though. And they are not anywhere close to durable (both of the top arches on mine are broken and both wire on mine are stripped to the copper.

I never said it was a gimmick, nor did I mention the sound quality. The problem lies with the fact that it's taking 2 channel stereo sound and fucking with it to emulate a 5.1 surround sound environment, which just doesn't work.

That can be disabled, but from reviews, it seems to be praised.

These assholes probably have a good list to sort through, ranging from $15 to $1500.
As for a mic, try a lapel mic.

You just may be technically right, but if you have surround sound to start with and adjust delays etc. (get a decent sound card), you get surround sound with only a 2 channel headset. I pop cloaked noobs in Warhead by sound alone.
Those USB dongles are sound cards, which doesn't mean they are taking 2 channel stereo sound and fucking with it. They're probably generating sound in different timings to each ear to give you what surround sound would anyway. You have 2 ears, not 5 and one for bass.
Sennhesier hd 555 is a popular pick for this price range in audiotechnica land..good for everything regarding audio.
Audio Technica ATH-AD700 for gaming since they lack bass in a way but the way you hear it is more crisp.
Sennheiser's are always a safe bet, I have PC350's which are a bit out of your price range but are fantastic, best headphones I have ever owned.
G35.

Definitely not 60$ over my budget.
I bought the GameCom 777.
Reading off amazon, the GameCom 777 has some issues for that price.
