really? on overclock.net barley anybody gets over 3.7-3.9 GHz, whereas the i7s usually go from 4.2-4.4..
example of the crossfire and sli supported mobos please (not that i don't believe you)

apparently PIIs like the cold, which is why they used liquid helium instead of LN2 during that 7GHz OC session

i will leave, it seems to be confusing uber slug lol :P
its up to you, if you want intel because of any reason, then get it. I personally love mine, but duno.
Everybody here seems to be geared towards saving cash, not getting what is marginally better, and different than your preferences. Its like somebody here might say "uh dont get a evga x58 classified waste of cashh". Somebody told me not to get a GTX 275 from EVGA because the XFX or whatever brand was "10" dollars cheaper or 20. duno. Its silly, I like EVGA and i want the free stuff that comes with it, 3dmark vantage, cyrostasis, so i can either give it away or whatever.
anyway, its up to the rest to decide. bai bai
I know nothing about computer parts, so what does everyone else think of tihs?
i5 750, 4gb DDR3 1600, p55 gigabyte, 500watt antec case and psu, 640gb HDD, dvd drive
700
That looks pretty good, as far as I can tell. Definitely within my price range. Does everyone else like it?
methinks core i5 is good choice
but mealsothinks i7 860 is betterchoice
860 overclocks better... and Has HT. the i5 750 is not that good of an ocer, and does not have HT. But its still fast and relatively cheap
i say get the i5

What's the cheapest way to get this computer to a point where it could run, say, CoD: WaW at high settings?
You might aswell build a new computer from scratch. Well not from scratch, but more like buy new components to assemble one. If you wish, you can re-use your old HDD as your primary, or even as secondary. And if possible, feel free to install your current operating system onto the new PC to help save costs if you have an extra usable license (up to $100 of savings).
You can also overclock the processor included in my list to up to between 2.8 to 3GHZ easily, more if you know what you are doing.
Here is what I have in mind:

Thanks for the second opinion man. Also, I heard that there's going to be another wave of really nice graphics cards soon. Should I hold out for those?
IMO yes, but it is up to you, I mean a 4870 is fine for most anything
as GPU get a 4870..... Its the best actualy for that price range
as GPU get a 4870..... Its the best actualy for that price range
Any real legitimate reasons there? Or are you just "going with the flow" as to what everyone says?

because you can pick the 1GB one up for about 150 and it will preform quite well compared to cards that cost more?
