I'll just keep the 470 for now, I'm aiming to get the best gaming experience possible.
I'll just keep the 470 for now, I'm aiming to get the best gaming experience possible.
With a $500 build, you are getting that with the 460 since it's got the best bang for the buck and you can easily get another later.
Basically after a while, a power supply will stop putting out as much power.
Let's say that there isn't enough watts. Or if it was enough, but after the card hits full load. Would the system just simply turn off? Lock Up? Or would it just simply refuse to turn on in general?
Just to note something here, You cant put a existing HDD from a older computer with an OS on it on a new one. Unless you plan to wipe the old one. Otherwise it may BSOD you, or you will have to call microsoft =/ You probably know this; but I have seen like 3 people do this and freak out about it.

So I'll have to use the disc to install it? Also, how can I wipe Windows 7 off my current HDD?
Oh. So I'll have to use the disc to install it? This will wipe the drive and re-install a fresh copy of Win 7. You can use the OEM copy of Win 7 on more than PC by the way. This is how I do it when I need to reformat. It also works for wiping your HDD's

Get a little better PSU for GTX 470. I'm going to bed though.
But is it enough for me to upgrade later.
But is it enough for me to upgrade later.
I'll just say that if you get a nice PSU now, you will thank me when you upgrade two years from now. The Antec is good, but it doesn't feel safe to power a higher end card like the GTX 470.
Get a cosair 600+ watt. They're really nice. The cables arent stiff, there is plenty off them or they are modular. 40+ Amps. Single rails FTW
Ugh. Those CORSAIR Ram sticks just sold out. I'm looking for one at the exact same price ($64.99) Should I get this: G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-4GBNQ? [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] 1680 x 1050 [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] Hmmm... I might get those sticks, Lifetime warranty seems promising.
Yes, the RAM is good. Why are you using a GTX470 for gaming at that resolution? Unless you're getting a monitor with a large resolution (1920x1080 and higher), you don't need a 470. The 460 will do and frees up your budget for other parts. You also need a PSU with more kick and reliability if you get the 470.
All right, I switched back to a 460 leaving me with maximum, $177 left. Can someone recommended a good PSU+Case for $177? Also please make sure it's compatible with my Motherboard and GPU [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] All right, I got a case and PSU. If someone could double check they are compatible, I'd appreciate it. Now, I wait until PayPal is done transferring.
Good thing you change for a GTX 460 again, SLI will be a good upgrade later on, as it scales very well and doesn't use much power.

You'll need them for when the steam Christmas sale starts on dec 23rd. :)
Honestly never knew. Thanks.
Keep in mind it works for me, but I make no guarantee it will definitely work for you. I just chose to install on the same drive without formatting.
Oh yeah, shit hahaha. Thanks for reminding me. I'll start saving up now
I started saving up a few weeks ago, been putting £10 a week into my emergency paypal account. So far got £150, should be sufficient for me to buy myself games, I usually buy everyone on my steam friends a game as well.
hey go for the ati 5770 instead, better card imo and save yourself a little cash....looks pretty solid to me, but i say go back with the athlon 3.0ghz....i have the 2.9 and have had no problems reallly solid...and compared to the phenom its not worth the money just fro cache
Keep in mind it works for me, but I make no guarantee it will definitely work for you. The GTX 460 outperforms the 5770 for only a small bit more. Do some actual research before spouting crap.
bzzt, wrong. The GTX 460 outperforms the 5770 for only a small bit more. Do some actual research before spouting crap.
Agreed, but from what I seen, it outperforms it by a lot actually.
It should support it.
Does the MSI 870-G45 AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard support SLI?
Nope. I personally would go Phenom II, the L3 cache makes a big difference at faster clocks, but I suppose you'll be fine. Also if you get a GTX 460 get the MSI Cyclone. [editline]14th November 2010[/editline] Fairly sure you can only CrossFire, but to a rather useless level.
Alright, I PayPal is finally done transferring the cash.
Also if you get a GTX 460 get the MSI Cyclone.
You mean this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127510 It's compatible with build still, right? (I also switched the RAM)
Yep all looks good. Keep in mind with the size of that video card you'll be sacrificing a PCI slot (or 2) or your PCI-E 1x lane.
