• Thinking about getting a 40" Bravia, Monitor replacement?

Real 120hz or not, It looks smoother, Some of the 120hz TV's looks messed with the way the image moves, but some looks great. And I really would like a 30 inch LCD monitor, but I can't run games at that res. [editline]5th December 2010[/editline] Besides, I'd be using my 22 inch monitor for web browsing, but I would be using my tv for gaming and movies.
Look around for a regular 1920x1080 monitor. If you want the extra space, get one with 1920x1200. Both are decent resolutions and most 24" monitors with them will have a good pixel density.
Really? Even for gaming? Then why would anyone get a TV for there Xbox's or there PS3's, and not a monitor... I always here good things about TV's, I just want to use it for games, and A bigger screen, because There's no 27 inch 120hz monitors, the biggest 120hz monitor is 24, which is nice, but it's not Ideal for watching TV and having friends over...
what?
What? Everyone is saying that pixel density is bad, and it's better on a monitor, then why would people bother with HDTV's then...
What? Everyone is saying that pixel density is bad, and it's better on a monitor, then why would people bother with HDTV's then...
because they're big
What? Everyone is saying that pixel density is bad, and it's better on a monitor, then why would people bother with HDTV's then...
Because they're bigger and therefore better to us as TVs. While I'd love to see HDTVs with the same pixel density as computer monitors, it isn't gonna happen due to games console companies struggling to achieve 1080p and film companies only just realizing higher resolutions = better and still filming at fucking 24fps.
because they're big
And is that not a good reason to own one?
And is that not a good reason to own one?
no it's a good reason, the fuck
no it's a good reason, the fuck
You seem confused... Why would games look bad on it, I'm sitting a good 4 feet from it, it's 120hz,real or not, it looks great, it's a nice TV, I can understand that web browsing and normal computer usage would be not that great on the TV, but shouldn't gaming just look fine? Because I want a 120hz screen, that's bigger than 24, and only TV's seem to be offering that.
it's going to look good with games but you have to realize that it's not really 120hz
it's going to look good with games but you have to realize that it's not really 120hz
So, If i v-sync my game 120 fps, am I going to see a difference? Or will it be the same with 60. And Heard that Sony makes True 120hz, not any smoothing effects. Also, what about plasma?

Also I would say go with a monitor instead of a tv. buts thats just because I don't wan't huge pixels distracting me from my games.
Well I might just scrap the TV and NV surround 3 acer 120hz, but I'm not decided yet, I might get one 30" Dell instead. [editline]5th December 2010[/editline] I hear that the dell 3007wfp-hc, has very low input lag...
The only reason I want a TV for my setup is so I can mount it on my wall and drag videos over there so I can watch them from my bed. I don't really see any other use for a screen of that size on a computer. Maybe stock trading? [editline]6th December 2010[/editline] I can't find that picture of a guy sitting at his desk with a massive TV for a computer monitor. Apparently he got to use it because he was top employee or something. Anyway, it looks ridiculous.
The only reason I want a TV for my setup is so I can mount it on my wall and drag videos over there so I can watch them from my bed.
That is unadulterated genius.
"i'm not buying 60Hz screens anymore" erm excuse me but 120Hz as marketed on TVs is just for filtering and motion "enhancement", what you see on the screen is still just 60Hz. [editline]5th December 2010[/editline] and for 120Hz monitors i believe you only get that when you're viewing/sending 3D, not exactly sure how or why, though [editline]5th December 2010[/editline] and again, when it's in 3D, it's still 60Hz, just 120Hz is derived from having two 60Hz images at a time
You can get up to 120 fps without 3D.
I guess the last question I have, is it more worth it to get 1 Dell 3007WFP or 1 asus 120hz+ 1 40 inch Panasonic 120hz TV.
I have a 26" BRAVIA and it's fucking impossible to use unless you're over 2 metres away And my 40", don't fucking start. [editline]7th December 2010[/editline] Also motionflow ruins movies

I find anything filmed with a camera played at 120fps to look very fake, as in the special effects look so dumb because the tv is such good quality
At that size and resolution all you're doing is damaging your eyes for no particular reason.

It's not really something you can compare but notice while watching naturally.
Speeding up 24 FPS film would decrease framerate?
No... ? It would just speed up the rate at which it shows the frames, which would speed it up and increase the FPS.
