If it was Realtek, then we'd have ALOT more people complaining about this.

Ok then hook us up with those specs.
Also, have you tried running in DX9?
fallout has a problem with non-windows codecs. If you have anything like divx or CCCP installed it can mess around with it and cause crashing. I don't think it does anything to the others, it may be a long shot but I dunno, try uninstalling all codecs and that that you have and try then
I also read that Quad-Core Processor's crash a lot either on startup or mid-game. I'll try and find you a link that has a script to make FL3 run with 2 cores instead of 4.
Oh here it is: http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=9507
Let me know how this goes.
:(
Well that didn't work.

Both the script and DX9 didn't work?
Well fuck.
Stupid question, what patch are you on? I'm asking this because there's different problems for different patches.
Also, do you have a codec called FFshow? There's known problems with that aswell. If you do, or do know if you have it but wanna try anyway, check out http://www.apgaming.com/forum/index.php?topic=7950.0
Well, I've been searching for solutions for quite a while, and I already know about FFshow.
No, I don't really have it.
I'm on 1.5
Going to try updating to 1.7, as soon as my asshole brother gets off the internet.
I've been thinking, and I came up with this:-
The very first thing you see in Fallout when you start a new game, is some footage of the DC Wasteland.
It's a bit like this:

Maybe the format of this video crashes my machine?
Probably won't work, but how about downloading the k-lite codec pack?>
Try making a partition and installing either Vista or XP on it. If that doesn't work after installing all drivers on the new partition, then post.
As you'd expect I already tried all the "common" solutions like updating the drivers, updating Fallout, etc.
Windows likes to be a control whore. Have you tried running things as admin?
Yes, I did.
Note, this falls under "common" solutions.
I wanted some specs but oh well ..
Did you see mine at the bottom of page 1?
Uh, that doesn't have anything to do with what he's having a problem with.

Read the last page for already posted solutions.
Well, I'm not really sure what format the video is.
I'm looking around in the game files, atm.
[editline]12:18AM[/editline]
Alright, I found it.
It's in .bik format, which I was able to run by downloading RAD Video tools. (From here -> http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm)

Another stupid question...
Have you tried the game since you downloaded that?
I ask this because I'm running out of things to look up/ask.
Also, I answer you within 20 mins... so try to look every 45 mins or so as supposed to every few hours. Just sayin.

Run this. It disables the intro videos entirely. Hopefully that might work.
Go into the search bar, and type in "Performance"
Select the reliability and performance monitor.
Go to reliability monitor.
Look for the time at which one of your games crash. Look at what the log says. Google any errors.
Helped me when my RAM started going bad and I had no idea what to do.
