It was what I was told by JWJ at the time...

You'd think if your boss told you this, it would be verified information.

Because the boss of one hosting company knows the internal workings of another hosting company :downs:

Um...
...We were in direct communication the entire time...
To me suggests Allgamer was in contact with Jacob who was our boss at the time.
Meaning he was informed over what was going on but told us something different at the time or actually told us something which he assumed then never told us the rest later on.
Bare in mind the WoM event was back in the really early days of Brohoster's MC support and the team was only 1/4 of the size it currently is now, you'd expect the information your boss gives you to be correct, specially when we worked closely with each other at that time.
But whatever, drop it.
It's history and the few who still exist in the support team from that time were misinformed.
I'm glad somebody made this thread, because I need to vent my feelings on this company also.
Brohoster completely messed up my Garry's Mod server hosting. Both of my fairly popular servers have been completely unusable for almost 2 months now, and I'm still waiting for a refund. I usually have to wait at least 3-5 days for a simple reply to tickets, and this week in fact, my support ticket (the same one that I opened over a month ago asking for a refund which I still have not received) was actually automatically closed because nobody replied to it within 168 hours. I don't blame this on JWJ's departure, because to be honest, I never found him particularly helpful in support tickets.
I would not recommend them to anyone based on my experience. I actually have doubts if the people who rated brohoster highly on this website are using the same host as I use(d). Honestly, I think most of those very positive ratings are done by employees. I've no evidence on that other than my own opinion, though.
Their slogan is quite ironic, as "screwed like a ho" is exactly how I feel I've been treated.

Send me your information, such as a Ticket ID number, and I'll get a refund processed for you.
Send me your information, such as a Ticket ID number, and I'll get a refund processed for you.
Thanks for replying. It's ticket no. 459846. I forgot to mention that I was refunded for one of the servers, but not for the other.
Also, I'd like to point out that the main reason that I feel dissatisfied is because of the response times. The answers and replies themselves were very high standard, it's just that waiting for over a week for a simple reply is such a big negative that it detracts quite a bit from Brohoster's positives. I'd also like to give credit where credit is due and say that whenever I have problems about my small Minecraft server, the support tickets are always answered quickly and helpfully.
I guess I did not take those positives into account when I ranted in the above post, so I do apologise for being perhaps too harsh. I'd just like to say that I never had a single problem with brohoster for many months. However, I don't really know what happened in late April on Brohoster's end, but I could not access anything on my server, and so nobody could join them (could not update Gmod version). The fact that it took several weeks of my support ticket being "on hold" (while I am paying for that time, and with little communication) for nothing to happen, really turned me off brohoster (and put my playerbase off my servers).
I'm still very happy to run my Minecraft server with Brohoster though, so that speaks for itself!
whenever i had problems and had to contact customer service, they always made it seem like i was like, bothering them. FUCK EM
I've been waiting for an EPP code for my website domain for like a month now so I can transfer it along with my host to another host but have yet to get a reply.
Ticket #929143
The problem I've been having is that for some reason, I am the only person who cannot load my website or connect to it in any way. For some reason it's blocking my IP and I can't find a way around it. So maybe the website IP could just be changed instead. I don't know, give it a shot and I'll let you know if it worked.

Chances are you've been blocked by the servers firewall for one of many reasons. I'll take a look at your ticket now.

once they remove you from the ban list make sure your ftp client isn't openign too many connections at once or w/e
that's usually been my problem when i get blocked from my own website
I swear I'm the only person on this forum who saw right through the brobrobrobrobro mentality
Brohoster had a good idea, zen-ify'ing hosting sites.
Removing the corporate 'bullshit' that 99.9% of hosts fire at you and presenting it in a radical, creative and abstract way.
Merging with said 'corporate focused' company removes the originality and the purpose of the original idea, stemming the death of creativity and it no longer becomes the abstraction it once was, instead all of the character is stripped away and the service becomes as obsolete as those 99.9% of other hosting companies.

It's all branding though, and it has been from the beginning. All hosting companies operate the same way really. I find the guys at dreamhost support to be generally bro-like and answer my tickets very fast and don't assume I'm an idiot, which is cool considering how gigantic they are.
Just because they're branded "brohoster", they're not your bro if they take hours/days to answer tickets are they?

^ This exactly!! I completely understand that support tickets =/= to live chat, but taking over 4 days to give simple replies is really, really offputting.

I rated you disagree because I never felt that Brohoster was particularly original. Okay, it's website art-style is quite different but that's where it's originality ends.
I've been with brohoster basically since their beginnings, and I've always gotten the impression that they were a normal "corporate-focused" business, despite their image. I never felt like a "bro". Tickets and support is handled exactly like every other decent GSP. Infact, it always seemed like I was bothering them when I sent in a ticket, even for problems that were caused on their end. A customer should never have to feel like that. I've no problem with Brohoster being a normal, "corporate-focused" business though. Honestly, I prefer it that way. I just wish people would stop assuming that they were a nice big family, treating everyone as bros.
And I also don't understand why some people seem to worship JWJ. I never saw him as some kind of hero CEO. He was never particularly helpful to me. For one thing, he refused to refund me for a completely reasonable situation because of "strict billing policies". He was fired, and the new guys were quite understanding about my situation.

Well I usually use Filezilla, so I don't know really if it has a track record of doing stuff like that or whatever. What would everyone else recommend I use or do?
Also, changing the sites IP worked, I can connect/load it now.

Nice to see you're going to sell my company for that much, you greedy little cunt. Also nice to know you fired your best (highest paid) technician too (Andrew, my right hand man).
Ever since JWJ got kicked out, it's gone to shit.
It was shit even when JWJ was there.
I repeatedly asked him to get the EPP code for my domain, and it wasn't until after he left that I finally got it.
isn't JWJ the founder
who else runs it
Some asshole that owns Club Uptime, an asshole company full of assholes.

Holy shit, he kicked out you from your own company and that idiot is now selling everything you've accomplished?
Will you even get a single cent?
He gave me about $5000 (at the time we were on the assumption that we would be business partners and would work on Brohoster together). And no, I doubt I'm gonna get a single cent of this. He didn't do a single thing for Brohoster and ran it (into the ground) for about two weeks, meanwhile I worked 18 hours a day for a year straight. Yet, he'll be the only one seeing that half a million dollars. I didn't care that he took it from me so he could run it, but I give a HUGE fuck about this.

Like I told people, this wasn't about 'poor work performance'. This was about Matthew getting thousands of dollars for the hard work of other individuals. He fired Andrew for the exact same reason, despite Andrew having twice or even three times as many ticket replies as any other technician on any given day.
He gave me about $5000.
5,000$ out of >325,000$?!
That's less than 2%!
:silent:
Run a smear campaign against this little jizzcloth. Run his name into the ground.

I won't need to. Once the client base of Brohoster finds out he's trying to sell Brohoster and that he fired the best technician for no apparent reason, his client base will up and go in a heartbeat. At least he had the liability excuses to use against me.
Woah, firing the previous CEO, taking control of all the stuff and then sell it, that's so despicable.
Surely you guys had some sort of legal contract with each other so he couldn't screw you like that, right?

It was supposed to be done right around the time that I turned 18, however instead of signing contracts, I was fired. We couldn't do it until I turned 18. Brohoster wasn't even registered until the day he fired me, maybe a day before. By all technicality I was the owner of Brohoster because the domain was registered to my name, however he used the ICANN regulations and got the domain revoked from me.

I've gone ahead and told the #bukkit / #minecraft IRC channels. Let's get this party started.
God, this is so stupid, why did they do this.
