• Brohoster: Proving their Excellent Services Yet Again

I came here as soon as I noticed Matt posting in the RC :v: No offense to others in the current Brohoster staff, but I'm afraid I can't do business while that man is able to receive part of the customer's money.
If im correct, IIS runs at kernel level, meaning if IIS crashes, everything else does. Correct me if im wrong.
I know Microsoft is stupid, but they're not stupid enough to run a service designed to be open to the public anywhere else but userland.
Did he just try to DDoS us again?
I was watching the guest numbers, nothing out of the ordinary when I was able to load.
I know Microsoft is stupid, but they're not stupid enough to run a service designed to be open to the public anywhere else but userland.
According to Wikipedia, it is kernel level.
I was watching the guest numbers, nothing out of the ordinary when I was able to load.
Then whats up with the slowdowns?
I really don't like that Larry/Gritten's trying to bring back Brohoster. It's a noble idea, but why the fuck would you help Matt in any way?
Maybe it's another kind of attack?
I really don't like that Larry/Gritten's trying to bring back Brohoster. It's a noble idea, but why the fuck would you help Matt in any way?
I don't think they can just mutiny and throw him out a window, nor do they really want to give up a good job that they enjoy even if it needs some patching up.
Wow, that was really slow to post.
I don't think Matt is really suitable for a management postion. He covers up all of his immaturity with official sounding words, and hollow legal threats (when he himself is breaking laws... while saying he isn't). God damn.
According to Wikipedia, it is kernel level.
Nothing on IIS' Wikipedia page talks about that subject. You're misinterpreting something.
I don't think they can just mutiny and throw him out a window, nor do they really want to give up a good job that they enjoy even if it needs some patching up.
I know that the first is impossible, but surely you'd have the weight of your conscience bearing down upon you that a fat, autistic man is directly benefitting off your extremely hard labour to try and fix his own mistakes. He's getting paid for his own terrible decisions. I'm sorry, but that's just wrong. Maybe if I was making $200,000 a year from this job, but it's not nearly lucrative enough a position to put up with that shit on your eternal soul.
Matt is just another angry neckbeard on the Internet, it will eventually pass.
oh wow, this is the last page before lock. So... do we bother continuing this or do we just move onto a thread about JwJ's new plans and maintain discussion there?
Nothing on IIS' Wikipedia page talks about that subject. You're misinterpreting something.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In-kernel_web_server IIS is listed.
Nothing on IIS' Wikipedia page talks about that subject. You're misinterpreting something.
Yes it does.
IIS 6.0 also contained a new kernel HTTP stack (http.sys) with a stricter HTTP request parser and response cache for both static and dynamic content.
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Information_Services#Security
By default, IIS 7 provides HTTP.sys as the protocol listener that listens for HTTP and HTTPS requests. HTTP.sys was introduced in IIS 6.0 as an HTTP-specific protocol listener for HTTP requests.
Source: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/101/introduction-to-iis-7-architecture#Protocol Therbo is correct.
In Windows NT 4.0, drivers were moved into kernel mode to improve performance. However, when a kernel-mode driver fails, it can crash an entire system, whereas the failure of a user-mode driver causes only the current process to crash. Windows Server 2003 can still run kernel-mode drivers, although this is not recommended for the stability reasons mentioned previously.
Source: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc784266(WS.10).aspx
oh wow, this is the last page before lock. So... do we bother continuing this or do we just move onto a thread about JwJ's new plans and maintain discussion there?
no we're all going to die hold me
I suggest a new Brohoster thread in GD or chat threads or whatever
JWJ, you might not know me but I just wanted to say that you are a truly awesome person. I have never had the chance to host a Minecraft server with you but from what I see, your excellent service and the feel that one is treated like a bro just sounds awesome to me. If you ever need someone to help you with your new service, just give me a call!
for the discussion of new developments regarding brohoster
Goodnight, sweet thread.
Good luck on your new company JWJ.
I'm going to vote that the thread should die unless Jwj wants to open a new one, or if there's a new development, like Matt being sued for libel or something
Yes it does. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Information_Services#Security Source: http://learn.iis.net/page.aspx/101/introduction-to-iis-7-architecture#Protocol Therbo is correct. Source: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc784266(WS.10).aspx
I always had a "twitch" in the back of my brain telling me not to use IIS. Guess that was it.
We need to finish this thread off in style.
I always had a "twitch" in the back of my brain telling me not to use IIS. Guess that was it.
Microsoft dosen't follow the UNIX Principals, hence the reason why a lot of Microsofts software is bad. Make 1 thing that does one thing, but does it well well instead of 1 thing that does 200 things but does it badly. (eg modules) is one of them them.
I think we should make a new thread.
I think we should make a new thread.
Hasn't everything pretty much been discussed and made fun of already? Making a new thread would just be spamming, "mats dumb" and "highly illegal" posts
Hasn't everything pretty much been discussed and made fun of already? Making a new thread would just be spamming, "mats dumb" and "highly illegal" posts
I find it to be highly amusing.
Move to Litespeed or Ngnix and you won't be vulnerable anymore.
Just a little note. ngnix is vulnerable; because two of my servers running ngnix got hit by it, and both got taken down by it. Centos is a bit of an addition to the problem though. [editline].[/editline] I'd say make a new thread about JWJ's new company.
