• Upgrading laptop with SSD

I would like to install an SSD into my laptop because I've noticed the massive boost in speed it results in on my desktop PC. I opened up my laptop and verified that it is ready for an SSD: Is there no difference between desktop SSDs and laptop SSDs? Can I just buy a Crucial m4 CT128M4SSD2 128GB just like my desktop? Are there any other things I need to be aware of? On a side note, there is currently 6 GB DDR3 RAM @ 1333 Mhz. Is it worth upgrading that to faster RAM?
Some laptops use 7mm drives instead of 9mm, but they're quite rare as far as I'm concerned. And just use a ruler to check whether it's 9 or 7, if it's 9mm just buy a Crucial M4 and be good to go. Woops, the most normal thickness is apprently 9.5mm, but oh well.
RAM seems fine, my desktop's is at 1333. Not that I know anything about what good clock speeds are, but it at least seems like it's fast enough. I don't think there's any problem just using any old SSD either. I swapped my laptop's hard drive for a Vertex 2 I wasn't using and it fit fine.
