Most of the time Samsung don't care
So i've decided to look into rooting my S3 to give it some "freshness"
What are the pros and cons of rooting your android device?
oh i've also been reading that it voids your warranty... so thats a pretty big con.
Well, first of all, rooting (in itself) doesn't really accomplish anything. What do you want to do once you've rooted it? Rooting allows you delete system files and run certain apps with elevated privileges (e.g. Titanium Backup needs root to run). If you want "freshness", you'll probably want to install a custom ROM as well.
As for the warranty, yes, rooting voids it. But not permanently. If you're able to unroot your device if there's a problem, then they won't know. Generally, that involves wiping everything, re-flashing your stock firmware, and (on the S3) using Chainfire's Triangle Away to change the bootloader status back to "unmodified".
Hm, it seems that SwiftKey lags less using the Dark theme instead of the Holo theme.

Wow. You know you have a potato when a colour can slow it down.

To piggyback off of this statement- you might get lucky and find an all-in-one file to flash back to complete factory stock with the flash count reset to 0. I know that there is one of these for the Sprint S3 on XDA. It's very useful, although all it does is save you an extra step.
A good rule of thumb is to know how to return your device to stock before you ever modify it, just in case something goes wrong. Samsung devices are great because they are very hard to brick to a completely inoperable state.
I need a new phone, is any of the new androids have decent battery?
I also could get a iphone 4S for cheap, but holy fuck the OS is ugly.

I believe typing and navigating in a console is a pain in the ass unless you have a keyboard and mouse.

The Motorola RAZR MAXX has a 3300 mAh battery.
The galaxy S4 is a little bit better then the HTC one.
But the HTC one is sexy as fuck.

Possible, but you can't really get a good flow and speed with it
I did put it to the test when i for various reasons had to ssh into a server and fix some stuff from a train with time pressure. Not recommended

How so?
How so?
Because I'm a HTC fanboy.
I was an HTC fanboy too, until they got rid of microSD and removable batteries. Now they can go fuck themselves.
(I still have an HTC Vivid lying around, with an extended battery. Underrated phone.)
I couldn't care less about microSD or removable batteries. Maybe it's the old iPhone user in me.

But iPhones actually last a whole day on stock battery

So does my One X.
So does my One X.
Do you drive to work/school? Most of my battery gets drained during my public transit commute (1.5 hr each way playing games or listening to music).

My HTC One lasted longer then my iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s. But then I did greenify alot of apps.

I get the bus to and from work, about an hour total.
I just got my Otterbox commuter case for my One. It is absolutely fantastic and it even improves the phone by making all the physical buttons easier to press. I remember my Galaxy S3 case having a break-in period where I had to push very hard on the rubber button covers to get buttons to function. That is not the case. I'm very impressed.
Putting a case on the One should be a crime punishable by death.

Using sawblades made out of HTC Ones

Not much of a punishment, HTCs are quietly brilliant after all.
[sp]Unless the tagline's changed at some point...[/sp]
So what are some good apps for rooted galaxy s3?
Im gonna go ahead and try to root tonight.
