is that a good way to root my phone? and it says I don't need to back anything up, but how would I back everything up?
Also what do I do next when I want to flash cyangon or some other rom on?
"You need Helium Premium to back up to Dropbox."
And then it starts uploading to Dropbox.
OK, whatever dude

Fuck, I regret backing up my entire Google Play Music library to Dropbox. Just over a gig now.

what if i don't want my phone to break in an accident

Don't drop it you big dumb stupid idiot.
The galaxy S4 is a little bit better then the HTC one.
But the HTC one is sexy as fuck.
Both excellent phones. There's no clear winner for everybody. The S4 has marginally better performance & larger battery, a better camera in daylight, a removable battery, expandable storage via SD card, no Beats by Dr. Dre™, and a lot of little gimmicks and features that may or may not be useful to you.
The HTC One is beautiful, has a better camera for low-light usage, and a generally more mature looking UI.

ill keep that in mind the next time a drunk driver slams into my car at a red light
I don't think the HTC One is a horrible phone but there are some oversights
For example, the plastic camera lens cover. Photos won't be looking so good after 2 years.
no Beats by Dr. Dre™
That aint no con. If you don't like the logo it can be removed with nail polish remover.
ill keep that in mind the next time a drunk driver slams into my car at a red light
The odds of that happening, and breaking your phone, are extremely slim.
ill keep that in mind the next time a drunk driver slams into my car at a red light
Yeah, a case will totally prevent car-crash related damage.
The odds of that happening, and breaking your phone, are extremely slim.
Doesn't matter; things will inevitably happen to you and you will be unable to do anything about it, that's how life works. Taking precautions against disaster is the only smart thing to do, and it doesn't make you a "big dumb idiot."

It can and it has.

I'd be more worried about myself than my phone.
Okay you're taking this way too seriously now buddy.
EDIT: meant for SGTNAPALM

It's a gimmick that serves to add nothing but drive the price up more simply because "its by Dre!"
It can and it has.
Well you can't prove your phone would have broken without the case so HA
Okay you're taking this way too seriously now buddy.
Yeah, Scot's hubris is way out of hand.

It has a hardware amplifier but okay.
Oh, you edited it. I see.

You hurt my feelings!
Installing PACMan on my phone. Good old 4.2.2 action.
You hurt my feelings!
And I do it again.

Having a 24/7 lifeline with which one can call for emergency services is one of the better precautions one can have for protecting one's well being. A phone is essential for that, and protecting that investment is paramount.

But that would be rude.

Buy a JCB phone, then even if you get obliterated your phone will be AOK.

I have a few Nokia burners sitting around in various picnic kits for just this reason. They have an excellent balance between cheapness and durability. I would use one for every day use but having a smartphone is basically required for day-to-day functioning in modern society now, depending on your job.

I thought you said picnic kits for a second there.

Yes that is a good guide. I used it myself. After you get the recovery installed, boot your phone and download the ClockworkMod app. In that app you can update the recovery to the latest version (because the one in that tutorial is outdated.)
To install Cyanogenmod, download the appropriate release from get.cm and the latest Google Apps package from http://goo.im/gapps (which would be 20130301, listed next to CyanogenMod 10.1.X/ Android 4.2.2) Have those files on your phone, boot into your new recovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache (under advanced options), wipe phone data (this should not erase your phone's internal memory but back up those files to your computer just in case), then flash the CyanogenMod rom and the gapps package.
If you have trouble flashing CyanogenMod, your bootloader might be outdated. You will know this if the rom fails to install.
