and i won't be purchasing a google experience device
First and foremost, Google will not directly handle software updates for Google Play edition devices. This has been reported as true, false, and generally disputed quite a lot in the lead-up to the launch. We know for a fact now (thanks to Anandtech) that while Google will supply the necessary Android builds to OEMs, the OEMs will be responsible for maintenance of kernels and all the various drivers and firmware pieces necessary for their specific device. The result is that Google gives the OEMs the Android build, and it's then up to the OEMs to make that build work on their Google Play edition device and perform the act of actually updating the phone.

AdAway is a must.
Is it on the play market cause I didn't see it?
Is it on the play market cause I didn't see it?
Nope. You have to install it from the F-Droid market, or get the APK here

How do I get Hotspot Shield to work on my S4? I bought a year's subscription 3 months ago, primarily to use it so I could access Pandora radio. However, I install it on the phone, and it refuses to work or allow me to sign in or anything. It was the same issue with my previous phone. Is Hotspot Shield just a really shitty VPN that doesn't give a fuck about it's phone users?
I don't think the HTC One is a horrible phone but there are some oversights For example, the plastic camera lens cover. Photos won't be looking so good after 2 years.
Pretty much all phones have plastic lens covers. Not a big difference. [editline]26th June 2013[/editline]
I need a new phone, is any of the new androids have decent battery? I also could get a iphone 4S for cheap, but holy fuck the OS is ugly.
One and S4 are pretty much as good as a 4S if you know how to avoid blatant wake locks and such. [editline]26th June 2013[/editline]
How so?
More seriously, better low light camera, arguably better UI, speakers, better heat dissipation/less throttling, better FFC, generally smoother UI, FM Radio (I actually use this for music okay), better Web browsing battery life, better calibrated screen by far, better microphones by far for concert recording and other loud situations, etc. There's an equally long list of advantages that the GS4 has over the One. Even if people call me a fanboy, I am of the opinion that they are equals but one will be more equal than the other depending upon personal preferences.
Pretty much all phones have plastic lens covers. Not a big difference.
My S1 lens cover is all scratched up because it does not receed into the body therefore rubbing against every surface I place it on. Also why the fuck did the phone never come with a camera flash? [editline]27th June 2013[/editline]
There's an equally long list of advantages that the GS4 has over the One. okay, what the hell geel's app is so randomly buggy if I log in on this account, it's fine if I log in on shaunofthelive, boom, crashes Oh and it randomly decides not to capitalize stuff
There hasn't been a good facepunch app in well ever.
The best Facepunch app is [insert browser here].
and i won't be purchasing a google experience device
Huh. So they only have a less cluttered system (and the new stock camera app)?
Both excellent phones. There's no clear winner for everybody. The S4 has marginally better performance & larger battery, a better camera in daylight, a removable battery, expandable storage via SD card, no Beats by Dr. Dre™, and a lot of little gimmicks and features that may or may not be useful to you. The HTC One is beautiful, has a better camera for low-light usage, and a generally more mature looking UI. [editline]26th June 2013[/editline] ill keep that in mind the next time a drunk driver slams into my car at a red light
Why are you using your phone while driving.
My S1 lens cover is all scratched up because it does not receed into the body therefore rubbing against every surface I place it on.
Oh god yeah, I hate how samsung decided to make it LOLTHIN and make the camera stick out on the S1, S2 and S3, and possibly S4 I dunno
I don't know why designers insist on the camera sticking out (Looking at you Nokia) just to make the body 1% thinner This would look a lot better, save the lens from being scratched and solve the problem of having an abysmal battery life
So I finally got my tablet back today, after 5 months of hassling them to fix it. "Oh, there is nothing we can do" I recommend never shopping at the good guys if you can avoid it. They also lost my SD card, charger for my tablet, and the keyboard that came with it.

An extra 1-2mm thickness onto my already paper thin phone! Seriously what the fuck phone companies, learn from this simple diagram and the world would be a better place
They also lost my SD card, charger for my tablet, and the keyboard that came with it.
I'd be asking for replacements or money for them, that's about $150 worth of your shit they lost
Does anyone use Google Hangouts? Nobody seems to know what it even is.
I use it with most tech savvy friends. All others are still on whatsapp.
Google Books got finally added here in Belgium, being able to upload PDFs and read them anywhere is pretty cool, and the app doesn't lag which is pretty spectacular for an e-reader app.
Everyone uses sms on my end :-(
Everyone uses sms on my end :-(
SMS and/or FB messenger
I prefer using SMS to message people, everyone you meet with a phone has SMS, they don't all have Whatsapp/Kik/Hangouts etc.
I prefer using SMS to message people, everyone you meet with a phone has SMS, they don't all have Whatsapp/Kik/Hangouts etc.
They also don't need internet access and it is pretty damn reliable
I prefer using SMS to message people, everyone you meet with a phone has SMS, they don't all have Whatsapp/Kik/Hangouts etc.
Nobody has even heard of Whatsapp, Hangouts, etc here. It's all SMS. And I prefer it that way.
SMS is ridiculously expensive in Spain, so basically everyone and their dogs have WhatsApp here.
SMS is expensive in Spain? That should be a violation of the Geneva Convention or something. SMS is literally just a packet added on to the regular "ping" signals sent to the cell tower anyway. Like even shitty Canadian providers usually include unlimited texting in even their cheapest plans (not counting the $10 prepaid or whatever)
As a brazilian I pay like R$0,50 a day to send SMSs freely, which would end up being U$0,25 more or less. Is it expensive? Also I'd like some game suggestions, nothing too demanding though, I still have my Motorola Defy :v:

For about a month or so one provider switched over to only pay for data and have free calls and SMS and within weeks all providers in Norway switched to that. It was pretty amazing to watch :v:
