Wow. I wiped my phone and installed Cyanogenmod 10.1.0. I'm cautious and only installed a few apps to hold me over until I get the new phone, though for the first time since I've got this phone... TETHERING WORKS! Goddamn that's frustrating, at least I'll be able to use it next weekend when I move and don't have cable for a day.
Why is tethering not allowed by default for some of you 'Americans' (Regarding Region locks, you count too Canada). We're doing shit loads of tethering in DK - because it's just included and it's intended for that use. (But then again, no unlimited :v:) maaah meeergeee
I flash a ROM, use VPN to mask the data and I can tether my phone all I want on VZW
The BitTorrent Sync app kind of works, but to download files you have to click each single one from the list, which is god damn annoying. Uploading goes fine, though. It's the perfect automatic backup. But I don't want just backup, I want to download files to my phones. I've got hundreds of songs, I don't want to click them one by one! [editline]30th June 2013[/editline] Oh I found a post addressing the issue. It's being worked on. Until then, Dropsync! Hurray for 75GB Dropbox from the HTC One and GNote 10.1!
i got banned from xda they say next time will be perma
i got banned from xda they say next time will be perma
should have respekted the devs posted from my SCH-I605
When I got my HTC Desire and I turned it on - it started to play some fucking loud sound whilst it was typing (or before, I don't remember) Quietly brilliant... rite. But tbh, I like HTC - it was just a bit ironic.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who found the irony in the tagline and the obnoxious noise that plays at the same time
i got banned from xda they say next time will be perma
Reason ?
Reason ?
having an opinion?
I flash a ROM, use VPN to mask the data and I can tether my phone all I want on VZW
Could I set up a desktop at home as a VPN or something to that extent and just run the traffic through that? I'd like to do tethering while I'm out and about with my laptop.
Why is tethering not allowed by default for some of you 'Americans' (Regarding Region locks, you count too Canada). (But then again, no unlimited :v:) maaah meeergeee
Carriers can lock certain features if the phone was bought through said carrier (if your on Verizon or Sprint, you have no choice) and your running the stock software. Originally, for the past few years, tethering was specifically not allowed in the contract. Mobile internet access was intended for the phone and that device only (specifically in your contract). If they found you tethering illegitimately, they had the full legal right to start charging you for tethering services (which is treated as a whole new internet connection in your bill) without your permission. However, the FCC forced Verizon to allow tethering on tiered lines as limiting it breached their terms with the FCC (or something like that). So yeah, at least on Verizon, tethering for no extra charge is legitimate as long as you don't have an unlimited data plan. [editline]30th June 2013[/editline] Which was good for my grandfather, since his phone's 3G internet is the only way to get on the internet.
having an opinion?
if his opinion was "youre an asshole prickmonger" then id probably expect a ban too what was the actual post that got banned
Reason ?
not giving enough thanks, and posting even though he didn't like it

But why were they allowed to do it in the first place :S
I know they do it through carrier locked phones (which is also retarded). But why were they allowed to do it in the first place :S
Well, nobody said you couldn't! And doing it means lods emone! Yeah, carriers can get away with some sneaky shit if there isn't someone there to say outright that you can't.
I flash a ROM, use VPN to mask the data and I can tether my phone all I want on VZW
fyi verizon cant charge you extra anymore by court order, you can tether all you want without having to take precautions
fyi verizon cant charge you extra anymore by court order, you can tether all you want without having to take precautions
Can't if he is still on an old unlimited plan. Those were the exception. However, I highly doubt they are going to go after any except the most abusive customers since unlimited subscribers are going to drop significantly once they want to renew their contract to get a new subsidized phone.

(But then again, no unlimited :v:) maaah meeergeee
My plan with Rogers includes tethering, I think all their data plans do actually since they fucking love overage fees. Though for some reason I couldn't get tethering to work on my phone, I could enable it though I couldn't get a data connection. At one point I wanted to get to the bottom of it and tried putting my phone back to factory settings and installed the ROM directly from Google. Still didn't work for me. Once I installed Cyanogenmod 10.1, it worked.
Any of you guys tried/use Oppo Find 5? It looks like a decent phone for its price (400eur)
Any of you guys tried/use Oppo Find 5? It looks like a decent phone for its price (400eur)
I don't use communist phones.
Wow what the fuck. I called my provider through skype (so they don't know who I am and add any "notes" to my account of my inquiry in case I feel like illegitimately doing it >:D). "Oh, if you want to add USB tethering you have to pay an extra 15 dollars a month for 3 Gigabytes data limit" Why in the unholy FUCK do companies get away with this shit?! D:
Anyone tried Aviate Launcher? It looks good, just has some bugs on my S3.
Given the fact that it's just in alpha stage I have to say it's really impressive how fast & intelligently designed it is (the widgets/picture area feels very wip though).

Two questions I got cyanogenmod and does the wifi tethering use data? I only have 2 gigs (family plan) didn't previously buy an iphone when they first came out w/ unlimited data so i couldn't get unlimited for my galaxy s3. and 2 Are apps such as Freedom illegal? I feel like in-app purchases to get items is a joke, but don't feel like doing anything illegal just to get them.

So I'm using Dolphin browser right now and while Chrome is really good, Dolphin just blows it out of the water in every way holy jesus The only thing I wished it had was that thing for people with big thumbs where if you tapped near a cluster of links it would zoom in and you could refine your tap
CF Auto Root
Looks promising, but do i have to reinstall everything? I always get confused.
Is there any application for using an Android device as a Bluetooth dongle for PCs? Seems like a simple thing to make but I couldn't find anything related to it Google Play, likely due to me not knowing what the fuck to search. Just checking so I don't shell out 30$ on a Bluetooth-USB adapter unnecessarily.
