Hopefully they might be planning something regarding performance in Android 5
My new case finally arrived, looks great and feels great in my hand.
So I'm most likely heading out tomorrow to buy an HTC One. Any reason not to? I'm aware there's potentially a refresh coming out soon but how much difference will the Snapdragon 800 really make for day-to-day use?
Even a better reason for my decision to get a pouch for my HTC One. Anyone know a good site that sells simple pouches? Checking out the website mentioned on the image. [editline]18th July 2013[/editline] Well that was misleading, only mouse and mouse-pads on that site.
The actual makers of those pouches are called fitBAG but last I checked their shop was all in German so it was a little hard for me to order, but they did ship out of Germany. Loads of customization options for your pouch (materials, colors, even some logos) and a really precise fit. Inside of the pouch was made from microfiber too. [editline]18th July 2013[/editline] Also leaked 4.3 for the Nexus 4! itshappening.gif
For a day-to-day use I think you'll have enough juice to power through anything except for perhaps CPU heavy processes. Until the Snapdragon 800 and Tegra 4 releases later this year the Snapdragon 600 is one of the strongest chips right now.
[t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BPZrrebCQAE8JiW.jpg[/t] Got this baby today for my Nexus (and other devices). It's a huge 11200 mah external battery from Japan. Only $28. That should be more than enough juice for my Nexus and iPod. And they said I couldn't get good battery life...
If my quick estimate is right, you could fit 6 of those onto the back of a Nexus 7 Build a giant case, add a voltage regulator and some circuits, 71,525mAh of power

The M8 will launch 2014. [editline]18th July 2013[/editline] Also, the One Mini is pretty meh. Still no true flagships at 4.3". The One Mini should've been MSM8960Pro, 2 GB RAM, OIS, IR port, NFC, 32/64 GB NAND. 720p is fine but it should be Sharp CGS panel like the One.
I really hope HTC will gain more market share from their One line-up. They really deserve it for constantly putting out some of the best looking and really innovative designs on mobile handsets.
apparently the new nexus 7 will have 4gb of ram insert tab joke here
If the n7 refresh has a decent rear facing camera and a better screen I'm definitely going to upgrade asap maybe put the old one in the car or something for gps a more expensive 64GB version would be the bomb, especially for a media consumption device like that
I really want a Nexus 7, mostly due to wanting to put this somewhere on it [t]http://images.darkhorse.com/covers/300/20/20732.jpg[/t] Oh, and for commuting and all those actually reasonable reasons
Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One owners: Did anyone of you actually convert your phone to the Google Play Edition ROM? Did you stick with it?
Yeah, if the screen on the new Nexus 7 gets a higher resolution I'm getting it to replace my laptop at university. It has the perfect form factor for being used as a on the go laptop substitute. All I need is a bluetooth keyboard and it's perfect for taking notes or looking up stuff in classes.
Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One owners: Did anyone of you actually convert your phone to the Google Play Edition ROM? Did you stick with it?
Nope, I've never been a fan of AOSP. I flash it and I'll mess with it, realize that I have to buy widget packs and jump through a stupid amount of hoops to get everything working, then quietly crawl back to Sense. I see a lot of people picking one up. That was most definitely not true of the One X/One XL, which was incredibly rare.
It would have been better if Android used native code for its apps instead of having them to run in a virtual machine (Dalvik). Hell look at Windows phone 7/8. even the oldest models run smoother than most modern Android phones with quad cores, when it comes to UI stuff. (and yes I'm aware that the UI only runs on a single thread) But the damage has already been made, and I don't think Google will/can ditch the Virtual machine concept.
Uhm, Windows Phone 7 used .NET for applications, only Windows Phone 8 has native code.
Uhm, Windows Phone 7 used .NET for applications, only Windows Phone 8 has native code.
My major issue right now is that it's clearly doing GC during scrolling and absolutely decimating FPS in the process.
Hopefully they might be planning something regarding performance in Android 5
I heard they are optimizing it for potatoes, aka it will run well on a phone with 512MB of RAM.
Android as a whole needs a huge performance overhaul
Android is still very much struggling with incoherence too: the back button's behavior is inconsistent, and Google can't stick to a single design; they went from the tacky TRON looks to the simple dark/blue combo, to the "Google Now" UI in just a couple of years
Hopefully they might be planning something regarding performance in Android 5
All they need to do is make it native. They can't keep holding on to Java forever, it's terrible. It won't even effect compatibility as they can keep dalvik for backwards compatibility.

so fucking tempted to flash
So samsung are like "no we cant fix ur phone pay £120" right But apparently they also said that when it returns they will have replaced the black front with a new white one again. They're currently debating if they'll send the black front back to us with the complete white S3, in which case we can just sell the black front for £120 and make money back (And then i'm tempted to just sell the fucker and buy anything but an S3 because I've had too many problems with this supposedly amazing phone)
^-> Sony :) [editline]18th July 2013[/editline] Surprisingly enough, close too all my friend have gotten a Sony phone recently. No idea why, but that's a good sign non the less!
My friend got an Xperia Z, seems pretty awesome, and the screen really isn't as bad as people make it out to be But I can't afford anything much, and that said, I'm getting a little tired of Android
I got the xperia v, and I really like it. + It's cheaper than the Z
Argh the Xperia V uses that really annoying curved back design, they could of easily made it all the same thickness and added a little bit more to the battery at the same time
That's what makes it great! I love the arc design!
