Is that 2.5 hours of usage with internet on etc or just being used for texting? What are some other good kernels? Is Cyanogenmod the way to go or is there another ROM I should try?
3G most of the time on when screen is on and 3G off when the screen is off. [editline]28th July 2013[/editline] Also note that I'm on stock ROM
Are battery saving apps worth it, and if so which one is the best?
Yes, and if you have root i'd take CPUtuner. In my case i'v set it to underclock my S3 from 1400MHz down to 200MHz when the screen is locked or off (and when below 5 %). When it's active, it's really slow, but that won't matter if you have it when the screen if off / locked. Anyway, you can configure it to do exactly what you want, exactly when you want. So after some testing and fixing settings, it should help with the battery. I went from drawing 10 % in 12 hrs when idling with screen and wifi off, to 2 - 3 % battery As for non root, not sure

The only viable strategy is to eliminate things that hold wakelock for long periods of time.

I'v gotten much better battery since installing and setting it up
Seems i don't have much going on in the background then. I'v gotten much better battery since installing and setting it up
If you have any improvement, it means that you have unresolved wakelocks and all you've done is artificially clamp them down to 200 MHz. It definitely will help things, but 200 MHz is huge compared to deep sleep.
Shit, I think I'm getting symptoms of the eMMC Sudden Death Syndrome on my Note II. Every once and awhile the phone will completely lock up and needs a reboot. I hope it's not going to be a huge problem to get fixed since it's an international phone and I'm in Canada.
I've been trying to think of features to add to my wallpaper for version 2.0 but can't think of any. Does anyone have suggestions?
did you ever fix the black bar bug if i rotate my N7 and rotate it back, a black bar scrolls across where the wallpaper doesn't tile
did you ever fix the black bar bug if i rotate my N7 and rotate it back, a black bar scrolls across where the wallpaper doesn't tile
Doesn't appear on my SGS2 Skyrocket, running CM 10.1
Nexus 4 gets so hot when you use it while charging. Need to replace the back with one of these: [thumb]http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/images/Heatsink_before.jpg[/thumb]
Alright so I have in my hands a Nexus 7 2013 but it refuses to turn on so I'm gonna leave it charge for an hour and try again later. Then I'll play with it to see how shitty it is.
if it's too shitty mail it to me
just got the xperia tipo today :v: I know it's wank to the rest of you, but I kind of like it. pretty good budget phone.
if it's too shitty mail it to me
fat chance
Anyone have any idea when the new Nexus 7 is released in the UK? My old one is scratched to fuck and is tired of life.
The Marques Brownlee circlejerk on /r/android is dumb as fuck. He is responsible for perpetuating dumb speculation and things that are just demonstrably false. Best example is listening to him talk about radios. I don't claim to be well informed on the entire RF chain, but he is getting fundamental things completely wrong.
I took a lot of pictures in Norway this month with only a Galaxy S3, the HDR mode works wonders on it [t]http://24.media.tumblr.com/4dfab01625a0dc84b03ac6cd2fe161fe/tumblr_mqo8tm5HWH1r42s8uo1_1280.jpg[/t] [t]http://24.media.tumblr.com/8365ea99ae4855aa534f7674e71d3e08/tumblr_mqo8tm5HWH1r42s8uo2_1280.jpg[/t] It makes this one look pretty awesome with the flare not being all clipped out and everything. If you have a S3/S4 I would heavily suggest trying it out because it's awesome as hell

My docking station is broken and it'd be nice to have it fixed but I really don't want to send in my phone as well.
Where in Norway did you go?
Bergen. Look at those HDR-powered clouds baby. For comparison this is the non-HDR shot (the camera can save both versions at once, which can be handy) it's a world of difference
How did I not see that it was Bergen? Must have been because of the nice weather. :v: I just found out that the camera app on my phone has HDR as well! I'll have to try it out tomorrow.
I've got a problem with my Nexus 4. I put it to sleep mode by my desk or something and when I try to turn it on using the power button it won't turn on. I have to reset it all the way by holding down the power button to get it to restart. This has happened 2 times yesterday and just now today. I think it might be an issue with 4.3 since I flashed it without wiping my phone.
god I don't understand why Google+'s cover photos have to be so outrageously gigantic I mean christ they take up my entire monitor it's so unnecessary

could someone please help me install CM 10.1 on a 2nd generation kindle fire? i've been trying to figure it out but the few tutorials i have found aren't much help i saw this as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2106463 but, looking at some of the posts, it seems something is wrong with it due to a recent update and the OP hasn't been updated
god I don't understand why Google+'s cover photos have to be so outrageously gigantic I mean christ they take up my entire monitor it's so unnecessary
It might be because a lot of people are just uploading crap from wallbase or whatever and expecting Google to crop it sanely
A bit off topic, but do you still have that 8X by any chance?
I do, but I still don't have the unlock code :\ [editline]28th July 2013[/editline]
I'm curious, could you mention and perhaps elaborate on some things he get wrong?
On the HTC One, he claims that the plastic lines/bezel are the RF windows. They aren't. The top and bottom metal sections are the antennas. The camera is the only RF window and it's for NFC.

I live in the US anyway and I could use it on straighttalk :v:
Any chance of you selling it without the unlock code? I live in the US anyway and I could use it on straighttalk :v:
The thing is that it's locked to AT&T. I don't know if putting a straight talk AT&T SIM will let it work.
Here's the amount of usable space after first booting up and updating my Nexus 7 16 GB. If you plan on getting it make sure this is enough.
I took a lot of pictures in Norway this month with only a Galaxy S3, the HDR mode works wonders on it
I haven't had as good of luck with HDR on my S3. It's better than the original (in the original everything below the horizon was pitch black) but everything is just kind of bleh. I guess I can't expect a phone camera to do all that well in low-light.
