Find your lost phone with Android Device Manager

Availability and getting started
This service will be available later this month on devices running Android 2.2 or above; to use it, you also will need to be signed into your Google Account. There will also be an Android app to allow you to easily find and manage your devices. Stay tuned!
Well this only took a billion years.
Will this also be a webservice to find it? In case you don't have another Android device?
this is pretty obviously webmaps

Better late than never. And the fact that this is Android-wide, not specific to some OEM or a special model line makes it much better.
I just hope it's IMEI based, not Google account based (well, you'll log in with your G account, but load up the IMEI to that account) so you can still wipe the device later on if someone decides to factory reset your phone. That'd automatically make it the best service because unless I'm mistaken, no third party service does this at the moment.
And it goes back to fucking FROYO! Who still uses that? Seriously the Froyo userbase has to be so tiny by this point.
would be nice if it allowed you to take a picture with either camera of the phone to get a clearer idea of where it is

put incredible pro-privacy shitstorm here (and let's look over the fact that most other services do this already)
hurr thieves have rights!!!one

Cerberus can do that.
Cerberus can do that.
Needs root, and let's admit it, the vast majority of Android users have no idea what it is.
A non-root solution will always be superior.
I like Cerberus because if you put in a wrong password 3 times it takes a picture of the user and emails it to me
Android Lost? That works free without root from your web browser

cerberus works fine without root?
cerberus works fine without root?
Looked around and found this:
Cerberus Support
Root is not required for most functions. It is needed for screenshot
capture, GPS automatic enabling and if you want Cerberus to survive a
factory reset, by installing it as a system application.
Google tried too hard to keep Motorola at arm’s length while developing the Moto X
Oh god, this.

Imagine if there's a single vulnerability in that system though...

Cerberus can survive a factory reset when installed from recovery.
i just found out that if i had bought my galaxy note I 5 days earlier than i did in 2012 i could upgrade to an htc one right now.

so on a scale of 1-phil fish how annoyed (or underwhelmed) are people at the moto x
I like it. Simply because it looks nice.
I hope they do well so that Motorola can start putting out some decent phones in the future.

It's got some really nice features that we haven't seen in android before but the specs are mediocre for the price - I think the cost of manufacture in the US fucked it

Wow. Decided to check mine just for shits and giggles, and I have one. Fuck yes.

This is probably one of the reasons why there hasn't been any ground breaker phones in ages. Because everyone wants different things in a phone.

Raise hell.
[editline]3rd August 2013[/editline]
Moto X is underwhelming for the price. Camera isn't faster than the One, not as good in low light, daytime isn't better than the GS4.
[editline]3rd August 2013[/editline]
And I consider the Moto X to be a failure because it needs a GPe.

Actually it turns out that the GPU inside of it is a beast. The CPU is good too.
Thing is most people don't care about GPUs so...

I'd rather have half the graphical performance for double the battery life.

It won't. I would estimate it to be on par with the One/GS4.
I think I just broke my reddit account by hiding all the Moto X posts. The hide button stopped doing anything.
Get RES and use the word filter

I think reddit went read-only.

My HTC One survived a full day with navigation on most of the time and picture taking when out of the car. The battery amazes me.
I'm still paranoid with battery life, though. I keep being careful because I'm afraid my battery will go below 50 percent.
I don't know what problem I have with 50 percent, it lives for ages after going below it.
