NFS Most Wanted runs like arse on the Nexus 7
This is disappointing
Why did you not check? This has been a Samsung issue for four years, and if you can notice it now you could have noticed it in a store. Why wouldn't you have played with the phone to begin with, or read a review. Even simple reviews typically mention it.
[editline]7th May 2013[/editline]
You two are idiots. It has nothing to do with me, and you trying to tie my preferences into it is both childish and ridiculous. He could have gone to a store and checked. Noticing a gaudy display isn't something you develop over time. If anything, adaptation makes it the opposite, you stop noticing it as much over time. I didn't even criticize it at all. I just pointed out it's something he could have found out before buying it, and one of them just comes down to reading some reviews.
We're just taking the piss because you seem to have such a strong and unforgiving opinion on which screens are good. I at least, don't at all mean to belittle your opinion and step on your shit. I only intend it as a little harmless snap once in a while.
Shaunofthelive and me used to bitch at each other until he realized I'm just blunt and pretty bad at getting my point across civilly, but my posts aren't both annoying AND devoid of substance.
Yeah, I kinda knew exactly what was gonna happen here and stayed out of it. Although I really did agree with your point this time. S3 does have the worst screen ever, but some people will still choose it for other reasons.
I've lost enough people in my life to know I say things like an asshole though, but I didn't mean any insult or harm.
I used to be like this too, with everybody, not just on the internet. Some people said I had a slight case of Asperger Syndrome. I really just had to learn not to care about my opinions too much and be a little more careful with phrasing things (but you realize that).
Anyway, guy with the S3 might be able to tweak it a little with a ROM, or return it if he just got it within 14 days.

Oh my, Viber looks a lot better than when I last used it!
I used to use it to keep up with a friend who moved to america, but then we realized Facebook Messenger basically does the same thing
[editline]7th May 2013[/editline]
minus the calls, which never worked anyway

I read in the comments (from Android Police) that this app was "sketchy"

How so?
I mean, all I ever used it for was to send IM's and amusing pictures

That's a good point, if there is no ads, and it's a free app that requires access to text messages and phone calls, I wonder how they make profit..
They probably sell your data. Just like facebook does.
I'm not sure what exactly you're asking, but:
Your SGS2 has 16 gigabytes of internal storage.
2 gibibytes of that is reserved for the system partition, that contains Android and your apps.
The rest (16 gigabytes minus 2 gibibytes) is for your media etc.
Why does Samsung do this? My nexus 7 just has a single storage pool
Why does Samsung do this? My nexus 7 just has a single storage pool
this is literally why google removed sd card slots from nexus devices
because oem's are dumb
These don't sound like build issues of a device supposedly built as well as the iPhone. The front pieces being glued on and falling off during a drop, and gaps in the construction. I still haven't decided on the One and I do not feel like dealing with an RMA on a $650 phone. How common are gaps in build or dead pixels? I'll be using an eye loupe to check for the latter.
There is always going to be a slight gap where the back cover meets the display because of the way the phone is put together, but I personally have a unit that is nearly perfect, the only issue is a slightly ragged cut on the bottom bezel that looks somewhat off but no gap.
I got a Galaxy S4, but still get framedrops on GTA Vice City. Even when turning resolution, shadows and draw distance down. Prominently when cars are loading and near the original home base. Makes no sense as it's one of the most powerful smartphones on the market

They probably need to update the game to optimise it.
Also getting back to the AMOLED issue, IIRC on the GS3 Perseus kernel might do the proper calibration, but it is only really calibrated to a single screen, so accuracy varies from device to device.
My old phone (Nexus S 4G) had an "Super AMOLED" that was notorious for being slightly off color (whites would have an almost greenish tint to it), so nice to have a phone now that isn't all messed up with that

at least on my Galaxy S3 I don't have a clusterfuck of storage/emulated/legacy where I sometimes have to look through all these "legacy" filesystems to find one rogue folder

yeah, this is another nice thing about not having an SDcard, I nearly bricked a galaxy note because I couldn't tell what was the card and what was the internal storage

I do now because of CM10.1.
What are they for anyways?

You didn't quite get what he was saying.
Jesus christ I never expected that 16 gb could be gone so easily. For instance songs take up nearly 9 gb of space, apps 2gb, add some games + downloaded files and you are easily left with merely 500 mb.

This is why whoever's idea it was to not make a 32GB nexus 4 should be burned at the stake.
I am pretty sure everybody would happily pay $20-30 more for a 32GB model
Trading my used 16gb HP touchpad for a new Samsung 840 120GB SSD. Good deal?
Trading my used 16gb HP touchpad for a new Samsung 840 120GB SSD. Good deal?
I just googled the prices of both. It seems the Touchpad is worth double the price of the 128GB 840 but hey, it's your choice
Because that's not belligerent or being an asshole. Lordcrypto and Van-man have no chance of going anywhere debating me so they just sit and wait for me to say something even remotely blunt and jump on it for illegitimate criticisms as shown below.
[editline]7th May 2013[/editline]
Didn't insult him. Never made a single personal attack. I just said he should have bought a different device if that issue about the S3 bothered him.
Sorry if I'm fucking blunt but the answer was no and I was just saying he probably should have gone with another device like the One X if that bothered him. I never called him any names or insulted his character at all.
calling someone an idiot is a personal attack. just fucking calm down - none of this matters, this isn't the israel palestine conflict or darfur, this is shooting the shit about phones and every time you come in here you blow things way out of proportion or with varying degrees of subtlety make yourself out to be better than other people, it's fucking annoying and isn't a nice reading experience
just calm down, like I said in the OP they're just fucking phones
Kaabi, you're one of the bluntest people I know online,
jimbomcb - bluntest, rudest person I have ever seen online but always in some roundabout way right
[editline]8th May 2013[/editline]
anyway kaabii by all means post in here but learn to control yourself, if I got angry every time I saw something on the internet I disagreed with I'd be taking blood pressure medication. by all means be blunt as well, I'm pretty blunt on the internet as well but take the snide edge off - everyone's an equal here until proven idiotic after all
I just googled the prices of both. It seems the Touchpad is worth double the price of the 128GB 840 but hey, it's your choice
Well, it is well used and has had a failure (wouldn't boot up for a few days, buyer knows). Battery life is also below average because its been living on the charger for a year.
Also, it's apparently an 120GB 840 Pro, worth $150.
Highest I'm seeing the touchpad is $145 on ebay, so I'm still thinking I'm winning here.
Why does Samsung do this? My nexus 7 just has a single storage pool
It's not Samsung doing it, it's literally how Android is designed, at least it used to.
It's possible that CyanogenMod follows the split because they don't want to repartition people's phones, and the newer devices handle it more intelligently.
because oem's are dumb
Well that's nothing new, but that still doesn't justify it for Nexus devices.
If anything that means Google should call them out on their BS.
Just saw a few benchmark tests between the Padfone Infinity, One, S4 and Z. And holy chocolate milk, that Infinity is my next phone!
