Welp, bought the S4. Posting from it now, it's pretty neat.
Guys, I just realised LCD Display = Liquid crystal display display
Welp, bought the S4. Posting from it now, it's pretty neat.
Replace the back cover with a matte one and things will be much better. My friend that uses the S4 just constantly complains about it now, even though he intends on using his smartphone for 2+ years and the S4 is really the only phone that could possibly go that long with battery replacement/microSD expansion and screen replacement. I hate microSD with a passion, but it's reasonably acceptable with extremely high performance UHS-1 cards that hit 50 MB/s+ reads and 20 MB/s+ writes.
My friend that uses the S4 just constantly complains about it now, even though he intends on using his smartphone for 2+ years
What does he complain about? My friend got an S4 and is complaining it is too big and wants to swap to the S4 Mini even though it is a gimp phone.
Doesn't like Touchwiz's design
Get a different theme/launcher/ROM
AOSP is too bare for him
Use a TouchWiz based ROM or some fancy AOSP based ROM like AOKP/PAC
ROMs are either xda-ugly and/or insanely buggy
Almost all are either AOSP or TouchWiz themed and aren't really buggy (research ROM before you flash)
Hates the camera low light performance, etc.
Pretty much every camera has shit low light except the HTC One, that's why the flash exists.
My S3 doesn't even read SD cards properly nudge it and "SD Card removed unexpectedly" even after I got a whole phone replacement [editline]25th August 2013[/editline] I gave up after it corrupted a load of shit, it's not worth it and I have an iPod to play music from now anyways

I was a heavy proponent for expandable storage before that, but after the experience I've changed my opinion about it. As long as we get more internal storage from the get go (32GB at least!) I'm fine with no expandable storage.

I've been using a 64GB card in my Galaxy S for around 9 months or so now. Never had any issues with it ever other than the initial format when I got it. Had to use some software called GUIFormat
does any one remember this tiny microSD reader on kick starter? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/andyfei/mini-microsd-reader-for-android-smartphones-and-ta Its $12 + $2 shipping right now for Pre-Orders & they ship world wide, i ordered two http://www.meenova.com/st/p/m3r.html [t]http://www.meenova.com/st/pimg/m3r/sz_quarter-560x276-q8.jpg[/t]
I'm going to try this now. Seems to be a pretty good mix.
Following up, I love this rom so much, thanks for the suggestion. Has the stock camera and a million options and mods.
Or just be careful, I've never used a case since I've began with the smartphone craze in 2006 and I'm fine since
I'm not arrogant so I recognize that sometimes things happen in life that are totally out of my control, so I get a protective case anyway.
Doesn't like Touchwiz's design, AOSP is too bare for him, ROMs are either xda-ugly and/or insanely buggy, hates the camera low light performance, etc.
all this hate for touchwiz :/
is it possible to install Cerebrus as a system app or make it stay after a hard reset without rooting your phone? or will it survive a hard reset without doing anything at all?
You need to be rooted for it to be installed as a system app and survive a factory reset.
Fuck, I want to buy a leather (or something, just not hard plastic) bookcase for my One, the HTC double dip flip looks neat but I read that it fucking paints your phone so I guess I'll look for something else I could order something on ebay but it'll take 2 months to ship it here
Get a different theme/launcher/ROM
Touchwiz is everywhere, and he doesn't like AOSP.
Almost all are either AOSP or TouchWiz themed and aren't really buggy (research ROM before you flash)
Yeah, and he doesn't like either AOSP or Touchwiz. He's pretty fucked.
Pretty much every camera has shit low light except the HTC One, that's why the flash exists.
That kind of low light performance should be the new standard :\ [editline]25th August 2013[/editline]
all this hate for touchwiz :/
I dunno, a lot of the problem is that they don't have a good, consistent visual design and there's this overemphasis on neato features that few people actually use.
Guys, I just realised LCD Display = Liquid crystal display display
"ATM machine", "PIN number", and even Wikipedia's name for it, RAS syndrome (redundant acronym syndrome syndrome). Mildly annoying, yet always hilarious.
I'm not arrogant so I recognize that sometimes things happen in life that are totally out of my control, so I get a protective case anyway.
Seriously, I find it ridiculously annoying when people say that shit "U DONT NEED A CASE JUST BE CAREFUL", it's just as stupid as people who say "U DONT NEED AN ANTI-VIRUS, JUST DONT BE RETARDED", simple mistakes happen, and when they do who is the real idiot here, the one who got a case to be safe, or the one who thought he was above them?

But it definitely sharply reduces the chance of severe damage. What I don't understand is that some of you guys buy phones for $500+, without any sort of case. That seems like a huge gamble for the sake of having a "naked" phone. I would definitely be protecting my phone if I paid that much money for one.

I've had sensitive electronics for about eight or nine years now (I think I got my PSP when I was 11), and I've only ever dropped a thing once in that time period. I'm extremely careful with my valuables, but I recognize that shit still happens, and I will still buy a case whenever I can.
Cases are ugly.
Cases are ugly.
If a $550 phone needs a case, it wasn't worth $550.
Cases are ugly.
Spiderwebs on your screen are uglier
Spiderwebs on your screen are uglier
Then don't buy a phone with shitty build quality. No bezels, no purchase.
Spiderwebs on your screen are uglier
Never had a cracked screen, so I don't really care. I take care of my stuff and if it happens to drop and shatter one day, so be it. Not gonna walk around with an ugly stupid case all day because the screen might crack in a year.

Its a handheld computer, not a fashion statement. Besides, its in your pocket most of the time anyway.
I generally don't buy phones because they look good. Its a handheld computer, not a fashion statement. Besides, its in your pocket most of the time anyway.
Cases make the phone bigger which makes them fit worse in my pockets.

And have. Twice now. Will be 3 come May.
