Not really. They were both standards. And LTE is based on GSM tech, so they're trying to fix it (verizon is gonna move to VoLTE.
Sure, CDMA itself is a standard, but the implementation is fragmented, in terms of whether providers use a removable identity module or not. And even if an R-UIM is used, with CDMA the providers still can and will choose to disallow unlocked third-party phones from using their network. The serial number of the phone is always transmitted.
EDIT: even if they move to VoLTE, they're still going to use a hybrid SIM (SIM+CSIM), and they're probably still going to negotiate with the network using CDMA (for two reasons: in case LTE is not currently available, and to maintain their control over which phones are used on their network.)

Well, that actually depends and isn't often implemented, but yes.
Again, they're trying to fix it with LTE. Except sprint, who threw in their lot with WiMax.

Not for me. There are certain settings which will fix that.
Older phones have a problem with it, though.

Well it's implemented by US carriers. They're greedy.
LTE is not a fix. Sure, that's all true. But the LTE availability thing is slowly becoming a non-issue for most people.
Well, my parents are awesome and got me a nexus 4 when all I asked for was a second hand galaxy nexus. Happy birthday to me.
Feel bad that they bought it like the day before the price drop though. Think I'll take them out for dinner to make up the difference.
-Snip, Shaun AND iCole got it covered-
I hate it when I forget to update read threads.

It gets laggy based on how many messages you have. Sub 500 messages is perfectly fine for me.
So for my 2012 N7, I'm thinking of getting these because I don't want to get the screen all scratched up at school.

I would advise against matte screen protectors, they make the screen look like shit in my opinion.
[editline]30th August 2013[/editline]
Though I bought ones that were cheap as hell.

I would get one. You can never really be too careful. The non-matte ones seem fine to me, but I haven't used one in a while.
Get a glass screen protector.
Expensive but amazing.
Where could I get a relatively cheap android device for testing apps?
What kind of screen protector would you recommend then? Or, since I'm getting a folio case, do I really need one?
It depends on the climate (if you'rre in west texas or some other dusty place, yes). But without one, microscratches will occur.
You don't need a wet application one, just a good gloss one.
Invisible shield, for example.

I tried doing that, still lag.
I have 4000+ messages and stock sms has no problems.
Except for not doing notifications all the time...
Anyone else get this?

the Android SDK comes with an Android device emulator afaik, it's pretty simple to change emulated hardware to fit whatever device you want it to run on

Check your local craigslist, you can get a plethora of 2011-2012 devices for under $100, i've seen super low end 'droid phones going for $30

Basically my tablet is encrypted, I tried flashing 4.2.2 and I get this (I never encrypted the tablet)
N7 2012
So I have a Galaxy Exhibit 4G that I bought in 2012, it ran great for about 6 months, then started to get extremely slow, and not load up my contacts list fast at all. Are there any quick fixes for speed? I've tried making space, deleting unneeded apps.

eBay. CDMA phones are already cheap (Because fuck CDMA), though there are phones with a bad ESN so they can't be registered to a carrier. Those are really cheap.
Went to work yesterday and my co workers have pitched in to get me a Nexus 7 2013 model. Apparently I've worked so hard this first month at my job that they wanted to reward me. Before I came along, they had some really shit Admins there.
It's my first tablet and I'm loving it.

I've had 15k+ and everything worked fine, honestly didn't notice it at all.
Are there any (good) music players with sorting by date added function? JetAudio sadly doesn't have it

I like Apollo a lot. It comes with CM but the apk is out there.
Just ordered a N4 replacing my lumia 800 (fucking finally)
Same here, getting a N4 to replace my i9000.
I'm still contemplating whether I should flash a new Rom+Kernel immediately or if I should wait until warranty has worn off...
I'm not really going to bother, i love stock the way it is, I'll probably root it and that's it
It's a Nexus bonanza in here
Not like that's a bad thing!
It's a Nexus bonanza in here
I still can't stand the Nexus 4's screen. It has absolutely no contrast.
