I consulted on a tablet for a guy the other day over tumblr. Took about 4 asks and replies, but i landed on a pretty good list for his needs and budget, ended up recommending a Transformer Infinity and suggesting some others to look at. Trying to consult with this other chick on Tumblr for a laptop/ultrabook, and she is basically ignoring everyone. I'm linking her to a Touchscreen Ultrabook that's $200 under budget with a Haswell i5 and a 20gb SSD along with the 500gb HDD and 8GB RAM. It's awesome. These are the kinds of people it sucks to consult with. [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] Sorry, I know it's only loosely related, but I need to vent. I'm flustered.

Is she just asking for people to confirm the one thing she actually wants
ignoring? Is she just asking for people to confirm the one thing she actually wants
No, she is ignoring most of the people, not communicating her needs, and blaming everyone else because she can't do the research required to find a good computer.
They do make your screen look a bit worse, but they feel like sex. Seriously on a tablet they are the best accessory you can get. I got one for my tf300t and it makes it so much better to use. Your finger glides over the screen like fucking butter. No fingerprints either. [editline]30th August 2013[/editline] Also bought a one. Its pretty nice.
That's called a glass screen protector. I don't help anyone unless they ask for it. Even then, if they don't want my advice, I'll just stop.
My Brothers N4 screen looks fine and on the reviews I watched it didn't look shitty, honestly I've used screens that suck and its never a turnoff to me, I just care about performance, the camera and battery life and that's why the N4 seems perfect for me
The N4 screen issues were just calibration problems that were fixed in the kernel in one of the old 4.2 updates, so if your N4 is on 4.3 then it's looking much better than it would with the the early version of 4.2 it launched with, where it was pretty badly washed out.

My brothers N4 currently runs 4.3 and the camera, screen and performance is wonderful

Not to mention there are kernels that allow user tuning of the screen params so you can change it to your tastes if you're used to AMOLED or whatever

Going to be honest, the Nexus 4 camera just isn't much good :\
Mess around with the exposure and white balance
N4 camera is ok in daylight, or in well lit areas, but at night it's nearly unusable, unless you turn on HDR mode and freeze your hands while taking a photo. I love the One's camera performance at night. I just wish we'd have that in a better resolution (8MP would be enough) on Nexus devices.

Question for people running stock Android 4.3 (JWR66Y) on their Nexus 4: If you open a random picture from your gallery, click the edit button in bottom left, then click the right bottom tab button (the circle with +/-) and select Autocolor, does: 1) the image visually change? 2) is the SAVE button clickable? It seems like the autocolor option is broken currently. If I click it, the image doesn't visually change, the UI doesn't change in any way, and the save button is still blacked out and unclickable.
The image change a little (just a bit darker) but the save button is unclickable.

I want my phone to have the same unlock thingy as the Blackberry z10 where you swipe from the bottom up to unlock. Any app to do that or will I run into a hardware limitation?

I guess you could just do +1 saturation or something to enable it without actually really changing the photo, so you can save a copy.
So it's Google who fucked up, not my phone. (sorta) Good.
Going to be honest, the Nexus 4 camera just isn't much good :\
Well, the Nexus 4 is by no means a high-end smartphone... it's just a very good deal for its price. If you rely on your smartphone a lot more than the average consumer, you should get a better flagship. The N4 is made for average consumers.
So I'm going to be grabbing an HTC One from somebody for $380 here, but I'm worried there'd be liquid damage since he's selling it for that cheap. Does anybody know where the liquid indicators are?
Can you have them demo the device? Like, over a hangout or something?
Oh I'm going to be meeting up with the person, so I'll just run through the usual tests. All I'm worried about is water damage. Anything else should be easy to spot.
If you're buying it secondhand, the warranty doesn't cover it anyway. I'm just worried for the symptoms that don't show up till later.

[editline]31st August 2013[/editline] Not even ifixit.
