Yeah, I have a GS3, and I do have to say Samsung's stuff is usually pretty well made. I'm not super worried about the screen resolution difference. But really, I'd be much more inclined to get the nexus 7 if it had SD card support. What's the point of having all that screen hardware if you can't store a decent library of media on the device?
Honestly I have a 16GB SD card in my Note 2 and I don't know what to do with it. Currently I save all my photos to it, but like App2SD doesn't work and all my music is from Google Music's All Access.

Not ideal, but I can understand the reasoning.
would u stop with the cloud storage paranoia its because SD card is a bad user experience. Location pickers everywhere
would u stop with the cloud storage paranoia its because SD card is a bad user experience. Location pickers everywhere
I don't think it's paranoia moreso than it is a lack of affordable data options.
Whenever i stream using my data it literally plateaus my data usage. Like from 100mb used to 900mb used in half an hour. I have a 2GB data limit so it's no wonder I want to store music on my SD card. [editline]7th September 2013[/editline] Of course I don't know how to accomplish this with Google Music :C

The battery benefits are nice too.
So I'm in the market for a tablet with a max budget of $300. I have never purchased one before and I'm looking for some advice/opinions/options for tablets. After having done a bit of reading on the current tablets I'm torn between the nexus 7 and the Galaxy Tab 3.8, but leaning towards the tab. The lack of an SD card slot in the nexus is a major drawback imo, and the bigger screen size of the tab is really appealing. What do y'all think?
Exactly how big is your media library? I doubt it'd fill up a 32GB Nexus 7. If yes, get a Tab. If no, a Nexus 7 is pretty much superior in every other way. Have you ever had a ten inch tablet before? They're clunky and terrible to carry around. You'll never want to carry it outside of your house or car. The moment I got my One X, my Thrive basically went out the window. 7 inch tablets are so much better and more convienent for mobility. If push comes to shove you can always use a flash drive on the N7.
yes because people are buying lte nexus 7s all over the place
Oh, we were talking about the Nexus? I sort of glanced over your post. I thought we were talking about phones in general.

And as to the physical size, I wouldn't be getting the 10" version. The 8" seems like a happy medium between size an mobility.

I've since warmed up to her purchase though since it is actually a solidly built device with a vibrant screen.
Oh, we were talking about the Nexus? I sort of glanced over your post. I thought we were talking about phones in general.
I'm still talking about phones in general. Google can pull telemetry on everything in the phone including SD card etc. If they have the data that continuing to support SD cards costs an extra 10 grand a year for programmers and etc, and they are making 3thousand off the SD card users' google accounts, they are gonna kill SD cards, its not worth it
But until they start including more internal storage in their phones, micro SD cards are here to stay.
most average users are perfectly content with 32 gigs of storage. like it or not, SD cards are becoming a edge case
most average users are perfectly content with 32 gigs of storage. like it or not, SD cards are becoming a edge case
Oh don't get me wrong, I am too. Unfortunately, most manufacturers are putting only 16GB on their devices, and charging a heap for more.
My phone claims it's a 16GB Razr, but it only has 8GB. I've always wondered if I got ripped off when I bought it.
would u stop with the cloud storage paranoia its because SD card is a bad user experience. Location pickers everywhere
I have NEVER HAD any application glitch out on me because of the SD card. However I have had a ton of limitations induced from the lack of a SD card slot on my Nexus 7. I'll let you guess which one is worse for the user experience: "not enough storage" or "having to pick a location for storage very rarely"?

Which sucks when certain phones with SD card support have pathetic internal storage A device with a single contiguous storage medium is a much better user experience because it prevents stupid shit like this.
My phone claims it's a 16GB Razr, but it only has 8GB. I've always wondered if I got ripped off when I bought it.
It's all the OS stuff and more, but phones are not the only case as USBs or Hard Drives do not have the whole 64gb, it may only have 62gb or 63gb.
My phone claims it's a 16GB Razr, but it only has 8GB. I've always wondered if I got ripped off when I bought it.
Maybe it's using 8gb for app storage? I always hated how it's separated in android
My phone claims it's a 16GB Razr, but it only has 8GB. I've always wondered if I got ripped off when I bought it.
This. When I got my 16 GB S4, there was only 9.8 GB of storage I could actually use. :v:

But keep in mind you could put your most played/listened to/watched/whatever on the device's storage, then have the rest in the cloud. I highly doubt you'd ever want the more obscure parts of your library at any point when you'd be away from WiFi.
This. Example - [t]http://i.imgur.com/vRw7sGK.png[/t]
That's not due to an OS or anything though. That's the manufacturer marketing the drive size as decimal (1000 byes/kb) and your OS reporting the space in binary (1024 bytes/kb).
hhhhhhooooolllllllly fuck how is this not more known?! DashNotifier An extension for DashClock that uses the NotificationListener service in 4.3 to show notifications from any application in DashClock. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2429111 Currently in beta (using the Play Store beta system), but holy fuck this is THE extension for DashClock. I was thinking DashClock could have this functionality directly in a future release, but for now this will do just fine!
Been using my Nexus 4 for just over a week now, feels good man. Camera is disappointing though. I don't expect much from a phone camera but goddamn, this is disgraceful. Thought it was even worse at first until I realised that it was only shooting at 1.3mp. Bumping it up to the full 8mp did help a little but it still likes to overexpose like crazy. Makes skin look really dead as well. And thanks to those who mentioned the refund thing when I posted last week. Mentioned it to the folks and they said they got it second hand as-new for around the same post-price-drop price so it's not a big deal.
Its really not the camera hardware at fault, its that the AOSP camera software sucks shit through ten bricks.
I figured as much. I own CameraZoomFX but it runs through the same software as images come out looking the same. Also currently trying to move some stuff about and have it plugged in to my PC via USB and it keeps connecting and disconnecting sporadically. Kinda weird.
