Starting costs in my country start at nearly £300 new. Can't find it any cheaper than that. Ebay listings have it for less but I would need to pay up to nearly $100 just for the import charges alone.

Absolutely not. That platform is dead and I'll be surprised as fuck if it ever sees an update.

Did you make sure it was the right gapps? Because I flashed the gapps on my CM and they all work flawlessly...
Going back to school and as such I need something for work. I'm thinking of going with this:

For a £150 budget is this good? The keyboard dock I've linked has rather low reviews on the UK site but yet on the US site it has more than 100 4 star reviews.

Is there an alternative keyboard dock that some of you could recommend?
I know nothing about docks, but if the 7 and a dock topps out your budget ir'a better than anything else. You may have to spring for an external battery later on, though, if it dies during the day.
I'm sorry, maybe you should have a look at the skins that the people of XDA make. Most of them are fucking horrible MSpaint skins, and it comes in 15 different fucking colours. But what pisses me off is the fact that the threads are several pages long with people complimenting them, and if someone criticize the OP, that person gets flamed. Its always 'maybe you should do that instead of complaining'.
Can you imagine this, but with 100+ different themes with similar looking themes, in shitload of glaring colours and then people say 'keep up the good work!'

original xbox UI I thought you were dead
the only good android themes i have used are the ones made by the torrid teal and lunarUI devs

heh, you should have seen it when the CM10.2 nightlies came out for my phone
the play store wouldn't load and my network icons wouldn't go blue, so I figured "fuck, need to flash gapps again". do that, and the phone won't even play the boot animation.
Good thing I could get into recovery and restore from my nandroid, eh?
Google are rolling out Play Music 5.2 which includes Genre radios, and a download queue UI.
Who fucking gets skins from XDA to begin with? Most people on XDA are there to get ROMs and kernels. Whenever bullshit skins like this come up, people compliment them to avoid looking like assholes. Doesn't mean they love it and use it on a daily basis, unless they too have horrible design taste.
Point is: it's dumb to hate an entire site because there's some shitty skins on it. Like it or not, they're the reason Android rooting/ROMs ever got popular.
Like much of the internet, you have dig through piles of shit to get the gems.
I've seen shit ROMs on the One.
How about another xda problem. Open the thread for my rom: Android Revolution HD. Look at how many replies there are. On my phone there are thousands of pages. It's fucking mental. You can't post in the thread, you'll be flooded with posts from other idiots. Even if you do manage to get a reply it'll be someone saying that your question has been asked before and that you should read the thread.
It's not like this everywhere, though. The CM thread for the note 10.1 is pretty cool.
Don't go digging through those threads. I only do keyword searches.
ARHD was good on the Desire HD, but now the dev let the popularity get to him. Now he just doesn't bother making ROMs that really build on Sense. I don't know if he still includes that stupid batterystats.bin wipe script.
Did they figure out that the script is harmful/useless or what? Used to be quite the fad when I had my Nexus S.
Did they figure out that the script is harmful/useless or what? Used to be quite the fad when I had my Nexus S.
So useless it isn't even funny. I haven't bothered using ARHD since the DHD days.
[editline]9th September 2013[/editline]
Only reason why I switched to ARHD was because LeeDroid was not updated.
ARHD is a bit too vanilla for me anyway. Hardly "custom" when the primary features are things like deodexing, zipaligning, and a frankly half-assed "Toolbox" app. ViperOne has it by the balls.

Yeah, big issue is that torxx has stopped developing Android ROMs because of family reasons. He has replacements to take over for Trickdroid and his part in ViperOne, but it remains to be seen whether they can keep things going.
Got a quick question before I go to bed, is leaving your phone charging during the night bad for its battery health? I've heard overcharging is not good in the long run for phones like the Nexus without removable batteries so should I be concerned since I usually put it on the charger around 10 pm on weeknights and shut it off to charge until 6 in the morning in that low power state.
It's usually fine. But if your battery happens to be one of the 0.0001% that have a faulty protection circuit, you will die in your sleep from the resulting fire.
My cousin is going to Australia in october and staying til early next year, if he buys a Nexus 7 (2013 version) WiFi model there, it will still work in Sweden right? Possibly the dumbest question ever but I don't know if countries outside europe uses different WiFi signals (like 4G and 3G signals are different in US and Sweden as an example)
That sounds kinda cool, tablets are basically pure media consumption devices but they're saddled with such limited storage. I wonder what happens if you give it to a toddler and they shake the everloving fuck out of it though

Use 'sp'
[editline]9th September 2013[/editline]
Also can't wait for the terrible battery life in that. Any tablet that uses it is going to need a massive battery. Luckily tablets can feasibly do that.

And shock absorbers for them vibrations.
Having 500GB in a tablet would actually give me a reason to use a tablet and not my phone :v: I am excited.

Always fun to find out the hard way.

Google are finally gonna send out my Nexus 4 today, I can't fucking wait, I've had dreams about that thing. :v:

Don't buy an android tablet for work. That's like buying a penknife when you need a hatchet. I bought a Thinkpad X61 for £115 the other day. If you're really desperate you could even get an X61T that has touchscreen and pen input as well as silly resolution screens.
Well, anyone have wi-fi problem with Galaxy Nexus?

Dont think so. I use a Transformer Infinity to take notes and i used it to draft papers during my study abroad trip (didn't bring the laptop at all). Granted, the word processors ae less powerful, but if you can get to a computer before you print your project (you'll probably be printing from a computer anyway), you can resolve most formatting problems in a few seconds.
If you need to use multiple tabs in a browser (say, for a research project), you need a real computer. But if you're just taking notes or writing a rough draft, a tablet is more than enough.
It can also work great as a second screen for your work.

I always see people say this and if you need something portable to write documents you're going to want a laptop. My school recently switched to Canvas and while it's pretty nice and has iOS/Android apps, it just doesn't work reliably. This laptop though? Everything works on it.
Yeah I do write papers on my iPad but it fuckin' blows compared to my laptop.
