Does the package tracking card in google now ever work
I have an email in my gmail inbox right now with UPS tracking numbers, the sidebar in gmail confirms that google does, in fact, know that there are tracking numbers in the email, but no card
A lot of Google Now stuff only works in the US.
I've never had any package cards despite using amazon, etc.
I was wondering what would be the best offline GPS with detailed maps i could get for offroad use? I was going to buy a gps for long enduro dirt bike travel on trail, but i though i could use my galaxy instead and i browsed on market for gps app but all i found is apps with flat white maps. Anyone could reccomend me one for those use?
You could use maps with me offline. You can download entire state, provinces and countries.
This, or something alike this would be pretty cool:

Unfortunately that's virtually impossible to execute well. It's just a designer's wankoff without any thought put into the engineering side of things.
Want to move the CPU or memory around on the mainboard? JUST MAGICALLY PUT THESE PINS INTO DIFFERENT HOLES AND IT MAGICALLY WORKS!

It'd be possible 30-50 years in the future when everything is magic and over engineered.

Mhm. I was thinking about how this was impossible as well. I still like the concept though :p
so my mom is switching from an iphone 4s to android because she hates how small the screen is on the iphone 5s.
is the htc one a good phone for a non-power user who expects good build quality?
If you ever feel like going back to Sense, Trickdroid is on the latest leaked build and delivers a lot of the customizations that Viper has.
I kind of prefer the vanilla experience actually. Just seems more polished and the overall style is a better style for my taste. Only thing I miss is the clock widget but then I now have this, which isn't too shabby:

Yes. Sense is pretty simple and easy to use and the One is usually regarded as being the best built Android phone on the market.
If she wants an even bigger screen, maybe even a Note III might be good for her. But then it won't have such a good build quality, being made out of the usual cheap Samsung plastic.
Guys, agree for S4, disagree for HTC One.
I used to have an S3, I like it a lot, liked that it could take a SD.

Having used both phones, the S4 is the better allrounder. HTC One's only real benefits is the low light camera (S4 has shit low light) and the speakers (S4 has mono rear speaker)

to be fair, the S4's build quality may bother some (myself included) and touchwiz is pretty bad. I mean, sense is bad, but it's less thick, especially if you use a #HOLOYOLO launcher.

What really drives me nuts is vanilla style clock widgets like the part in Smart Launcher and the one in WidgetLocker aren't standalone widgets, even though they're as basic as clocks come.

I'd suggest changing the Home screen from Blinkfeed though. Besides that you're golden.
Fuck.
Google canceled my Nexus 4 order because of too high request, they ran out one day after putting up that offer. :c
Guess I'll have to see if I can get the 16GB version..
[editline]11th September 2013[/editline]
Or, if that's not possible, can you guys recommend anything good in that price range?

OK I'll install the nova launcher for her
And the Google keyboard to probably

HTC One's benefits according to a long ass time researching it because I switched from an S4 to a One:
1) Better screen - the One's screen is sharper, uses a proper RGB layout (not horrendous PenTile), is twice as bright, and uses way less energy. Only thing it's not as good at is contrast, due to the S4's screen being AMOLED.
2) Better speakers - Pretty sure that part is self explanatory. There are two speaker grills on the One giving awesome stereo sound with pretty impressive bass for size. There's just a speaker buried in the back on the S4 and when you lay it down on a table it gets muffled. Many missed calls later I discovered that this isn't the most brilliant design.
3) Build quality - Another one that's self-explanatory. The One's design competes against products like the iPhone 4/5. The S4's design is made out of really thin, cheap plastic. One will be more durable, I guarantee it.
4) This one will be more subjective and depending on how you use it, but Sense > TW for me. Also the battery life on the One is said to be quite a bit better when it comes to Wi-Fi browsing and general entertainment use, whereas I think the S4 gets better call time battery life.
5) IR blaster on the One is much stronger and also has an IR receiver to learn from remotes. S4's blaster is OK but not as powerful, and no receiver, so no learning.
6) Performance - Despite a 200MHz handicap, the One's Sense UI is more snappy than TW in almost every category. Things just get done faster. This is according to practically all reviews I read, anyway. I personally didn't spend much time with TW. I rooted the phone the minute I got home and had Google Edition running on it from the start. But TW did indeed seem like a bloated tragic suite to have on a phone.
7) Sound quality - both use the same DAC, but the one has an external amp and apparently higher voltages on the amp as well. You notice a difference with better headphones.
8) Better ROMs - surprisingly, the One's devs seem quite a bit more dedicated than the S4's. I'm one of those guys that flashes a new ROM on a weekly (more like bi-daily) basis. One's ROMs have so far been so much more polished and carefully designed than the S4's. So if you're in the ROM flashing crowd, the One wins in this category.
9) Better night time camera - the daytime camera isn't going to win any Oscars, but this phone is amazing at capturing night time pics. Practically anything around sunset until the next morning is going to be shot better on the One. If you take pictures at the bar, club, etc. you'll have an easier time with the One. The S4's camera is incredible in the morning and around bright lighting conditions, but it's horrendous at night. As in, everything's underexposed massively.
To be fair, here are some things the S4 did better:
1) Bigger screen. Yes it may be not as sharp but some people want a 5" screen and not 4.7". The thin bezel on the S4 makes the screen pop even more.
2) Removable battery and expandable storage - it comes with 16GB but you can put in up to 64GB of MicroSD storage. Battery is replaceable as well.
3) More accessories - it's no surprise; the S4 is more popular thanks to Samsung's strong foothold that they got from the S3. So naturally the S4 has more cases and such in stores than the One.
4) Way better daytime camera - 13MP camera on the S4 is a winner for capturing pics outdoors in the daytime. The One's camera can't even come close in this category.
5) Some nice software features like multi-window and gestures like scrolling using your head, getting information when the phone is on a table by waving your hand over it, etc. The S4 certainly wins when it comes to the sheer amount of pre-installed features, while the One remains relatively minimalistic.
So looking at these, I can't see how the S4 would be a better allrounder. If you can live without expandable storage (the One comes with 32GB most of the time) and removable battery and aren't afraid to dig a bit deeper to find cases than you would with an iPhone or an S4, the One pretty much has the S4 beat in every other category.

Yeah. First thing I did with my One is install Nova to get rid of the blinkfeed crap (still can't believe they don't let you turn it off in the settings). But the awesome Sense clock widget won't work with anything but Sense. Really sucks but then again you can get an app like Beautiful Widgets and it has a million skins, including Sense ones. Don't know why it got such relatively bad ratings on the Play Store (4.2 stars) but it's a really nice app and has never given me any issues.
I actually use blinkfeed, but I only have twitter, facebook and calendar on it. It's terrible for actual feeds.

Also, in your fourth point (about sense > TW), you say that that's where you're getting objective. I'm sure you mean subjective.
Minor niggle, though. I know what you meant :)
Don't forget multi window on the S4
I will sing the praises of multi window until it's an official Android feature
Whoops, yeah. I actually thought about that when I was typing it. Settled on "fuck it, nobody cares anyway."
:P

the note has a pen, all other phones are inferior
drawing digital dicks in class was never easier
I wish I had money for a stylus
a bunch of places around here make you sign with your finger on digital touchscreens (refurb'd Android phones I think), and i'm getting tired of the bank calling me because my signature looks forged

In here you can sign with a pen, but the devices have pressure sensitive touch screens rather than capacitive/WACOM ones. It's mental, and my signatures look like shit. Well at least I don't get calls about forged signatures.

I reckon a pen is much more useful on a 10" tablet than a 6" phone. With my tablet I can actually lay it down and write properly. A friend of mine with a note II says he can't properly write on it. That's a shame.
I scribble notes on mine all the time. It's not supposed to be a writing device. It's for a quick few words of notes and drawing.

The Note has a thin tipped stylus, though. Your every day tablet has to use a generic capacitive stylus.

I'm comparing it with the note 10.1 I have. I have a thin tip just like all the other notes.

Yeah that's what it's useful for. I use my tablet for actual lecture notes, ui mockups. Besides that I also use it to draw and visualise difficult mathematical problems when I'm programming.
I still love my tablet, unlike the optimus 3D that I really got to hate after a while. I'm not even considering getting the 2014 version. This one is fine as it is, if only Samsung would fucking update it.
7) Sound quality - the S4 uses a Qualcomm audio chip. Not a bad chip at all. But not quite as good as the One's Wolfson. You notice a difference with better headphones.
One and S4 have same chip, but One has a higher voltage on the headphone jack/amps.
the one also has hella sick Beats audio, homie
