Don't uninstall the original, it's a system app. Just set apex as the default launcher. And I prefer Nova, but apex is a close second and others like it more.

Also, don't get upset when some fucking toad rolls through and levels everything you've built. It happens (happened to me last night). Just look at it as an opportunity to get more AP.
Oh I get not to uninstall the default launcher, that's just asking for shit to get fucked. More if I change my mind on Apex, does the default become, well, default again once a replacement is uninstalled?

Yep. And uninstalling it updating any launcher will prompt you to reset the default.
Sorry, I misunderstood that other post.

Ahh, it's cool :v: I was just unsure how Android would handle it. Apex seems to be a lot smoother than the default from my use, having the app drawer scroll vertically is also pretty nice, the default behaviour is weird.
Which ROM could I put on a Galaxy S3 that is most similar to stock android?
Or at least, the barebones kind that comes on the nexus 7.

I just bought 11 KitKat bars.
Thanks Google.
Android 4.5: iPad
I know this isn't related much, but does anyone of you guys have recommendations for a good small bluetooth speaker with decent battery life (8-10 hours)? Something to easily carry around etc.
I'm looking at the Logitech UE Mobile Boombox, but the price seems a bit high (not to mention I'd have to pay more to get it shipped since Logitech doesn't sell it here)
I wiped accidentally the emmc partition and lost so much ;_;
Most sentimental value stuff... and apparently nandroid backups don't back up that partition by default...
Oh well :/
Also, I've had little luck at finding out something about the messaging app. Apparently some phones support delivery/read reports. iPhones even support "typing..." notifications?! Why the hell doesn't my messaging app have that(stock CM10.1.3)? And how do I get it? Preferably through flashing a new messenger app or something cause I don't need a bloated 3rd party app from the market.
Edit:
Also, turning on delivery reports or and of that in the app settings doesn't seem to do anything.

the iphone typing is only for imessages
Hmm. I just realised I can get a nexus 4 for pretty much the same price as an s3 which would straight up fill my rom needs.
How do the two compare to eachother? Is there anything that distinctly makes one better/worse?
I might be getting this "Kyocera Hydro" phone. Anyone have any experience with it?

May be a little slow, I think it's only a single core phone. But the battery life may be alright depending on how you use it.

Absolutely no ROMS for it. My mom and sister have one. It's slow, but it works.
I'm getting it for free and it doesn't seem slow, and it is certainly better compared to my Transfix.

If you like stock Android, I'd go Nexus 4. if you like the Samsung Touchwiz stuff, go S3.
Keep in mind the Nexus 4 only has 3G. However, it is non-contract.

Also will there be more N4 stock, or was it an actual clearance sale to get rid of the things? I don't wanna have to pay about £250 when I could only have to pay £160 from Google Play.

They cleared out the 8GB but the 16 is still in Stock. I read that they would not be restocking the N4 when it sells out.
And that LTE radio is band 4(t-mobile) only, right?
I don't really know shit about 3G and 4G and that shit, but would a so called 'LTE radio' use 4G then?
I'll be getting it with Three (here in the UK) and they're doing free upgrades to 4G before the year's over.
yes
What the hell, Cyanogenmod.
I wanted to try Cyanogenmod 10.2 on my Note II, so I made a backup and left it on my internal storage since apparently the stock OS likes to kill Clockworkmod Recovery, so I didn't want to boot into Android. I did the factory reset from clockworkmod recovery, installed Cyanogenmod and then gapps, noting that my backup and other folders were still there. Once I booted into the freshly installed OS, I hook it up to my PC and find the regular, stock folders.

Annnnd my phone is locking up a lot. This is what I get when I try to improve things.
[editline]13th September 2013[/editline]
It's insane how much it's freezing... Boot up > unlock > swipe home screen > FROZEN
Just when I told myself the effects of the emmc bug went away.

the bands don't support Australian LTE bands
Well, I flashed back the original firmware since crashing every two minutes wasn't my idea of a usable phone and it's worse! I can't even select "English" from the language selection without it locking up.
Since I bought the phone from swefox, who got the phone in sweden, the warranty doesn't cover me! So I'll have to see if I can bring it into Rogers tomorrow and see if they can send it in to be fixed, probably for a large sum of money.
MMS have a 300kb limit so there's not much you can do IIRC
MMS is the worst protocol in the world. I always get people wanting me to fix their MMS problems and I can't.
A lot of people in Canada use MMS because data is expensive as shit. But on Android, it seems to need a data connection to send. Like you can't just set an APN specifically for MMS and not data; it won't work at all then. And Google searches on this gave no useful information.
So I got the Kyocera Hydro, and its working great. Huge upgrade for me, and I love it.

MMS requires data. The only way to step around the issue is to get the carrier to block mobile data use.

That doesn't happen on any Android I've used. MMS sends fine without data. Perhaps it's a Canadian Network thing?
Alright, Repost from General Discussion as I figure the best place to get this info is the core thread. The iphone 5s disappointed me so I currently have a 5 and want to jump ship to Android or Windows.
So The main thing making me lean towards android is my pair of google glass would finally be fully functional. SMS and GPS are main things I can't do on it, and Any android phone would fix that. Now on the flip side the one thing bothering me about the android OS is I just don't like the way it feels, Like it isn't smooth enough. Anyone know what I'm mean? Any way to solve this or is it because I've been an iOS user since 08' and need to adapt. Where as on the windows phone I felt a bit at ease compared to android phones.
And which one should I grab, Going to AT&T Store maybe tomorrow or Monday. Going to fiddle with the Note II and S4, IF I prefer the note should I wait for the 3?
Anyway, The other thing is me to stop using Itunes, Sounds weird but I like managing updates, music, movies etc all from it. Makes life simpler.
Well, you can root an android and get a AOSP ROM, or buy a Nexus phone.
I'm not an expert, don't hurt me.

Sometimes the people who aren't experts can give advice the experts won't say. I'm just trying to find a good transition. I'm willing to switch over as long as I don't end up stuck and say fuck it.
