Alright, Repost from General Discussion as I figure the best place to get this info is the core thread. The iphone 5s disappointed me so I currently have a 5 and want to jump ship to Android or Windows. So The main thing making me lean towards android is my pair of google glass would finally be fully functional. SMS and GPS are main things I can't do on it, and Any android phone would fix that. Now on the flip side the one thing bothering me about the android OS is I just don't like the way it feels, Like it isn't smooth enough. Anyone know what I'm mean? Any way to solve this or is it because I've been an iOS user since 08' and need to adapt. Where as on the windows phone I felt a bit at ease compared to android phones. And which one should I grab, Going to AT&T Store maybe tomorrow or Monday. Going to fiddle with the Note II and S4, IF I prefer the note should I wait for the 3? Anyway, The other thing is me to stop using Itunes, Sounds weird but I like managing updates, music, movies etc all from it. Makes life simpler.
aosp or go home ok now someone is gonna yell at me but android has increased fps quite significantly since the 2.3 years also itunes sucks compared to everything just automatically working. if you can wait about a month and a half the new nexus devices will be out
AFAIK, AOSP and in extension the Nexus line of phones are really barebones when it comes to all the extra crap. I recently put Cyanogen mod, an AOSP based ROM, on my XT912 Razr, and I fucking love it. Nexus phones are supposed to be Pure Android, what google wants it to look like, and AOSP ROMS are based off of Googles vision of Android.

Android isn't laggy on my Nexus 4 or Nexus 7 2013. The same cannot be said for my original Nexus 7 though. Android requires pretty decent hardware to run smooth and oem skins don't help. [editline]14th September 2013[/editline] If the rumours turn out true the new Nexus 4 is going to be a beast. It's based on LG's G2.
Edit: My Nexus 7 is a state over, should have it by Monday.
I don't really know shit about 3G and 4G and that shit, but would a so called 'LTE radio' use 4G then? I'll be getting it with Three (here in the UK) and they're doing free upgrades to 4G before the year's over.
If you want to get really technical, LTE is 3G, LTE-A is 4G, but nobody is using that yet. Providers wanted to market their networks better, so they started branding 3G standards as 4G, it's become such a problem that the ITU now says there's "4G" and "Real 4G", "4G" meaning 3G and "Real 4G" meaning 4G. An actual 4G phone should be able to get around 1Gbps downstream, nobody is doing that currently though.
Then what's 3G? Or are we referring to European networks?
3G is anything from UMTS through LTE/HSPA+, 4G is LTE-A and WiMAX2 (currently, it'll get better in future) The standards are defined by the minimum functionality, so there's quite a few networking standards that fall within any one generation.
Looked up the baseband of my phone, and read this article. And it confirms what I've always thought. http://www.androidauthority.com/hspa-vs-lte-which-one-is-better-78120/ Sprint, and all the cheapo networks(Cricket) that use their towers suck.
Since the Nexus 4 is out of stock now and I was too slow, what do you guys think of the LG P760 Optimus L9? Seems like an alright phone for the price.
MMS is the worst protocol in the world. I always get people wanting me to fix their MMS problems and I can't. A lot of people in Canada use MMS because data is expensive as shit. But on Android, it seems to need a data connection to send. Like you can't just set an APN specifically for MMS and not data; it won't work at all then. And Google searches on this gave no useful information.
Works fine without internet connection. Running Dummy File Generator multiple times to see if it will fix my constant freezing of my S3, checked XDA and it said this was the most successful way of fixing it. Hopefully it works or i'll have to sell the phone as my warranty ran out a few days ago.
How does this page look for you guys on chrome for android: http://zipcon.net/~swhite/docs/computers/browsers/fonttest.html All the fonts work fine on desktop chrome but both chrome stable and beta on my nexus 4 everything looks like the same font

That webpage doesn't include them via CSS either so they just default to an equivalent Droid font.

I got the LG G2 yesterday, and coming from an LG Nitro, this thing is stupid fast. I think I like LG the most of all the Android device manufacturers, though I don't have much experience with Motorola.
LG used to be absolutely terrible, but they've turned that around in the last 12ish months.
LG used to be absolutely terrible, but they've turned that around in the last 12ish months.
My optimus 3D still hasn't seen an official Jellybean update.
I remember people asking me about LG android phones, and I would have never recommended until now.
Wishful thinking there. The Optimus 3D, 2X and a couple others from that era are as good as dead. Optimus G and newer though, I'm impressed. Not that I'd buy a non-stock Android device, but LG is doing some neat stuff.
LG needs to get out of the shadow of copying Samsung, they make good hardware but they have to find a different direction.
LG needs to get out of the shadow of copying Samsung, they make good hardware but they have to find a different direction.
isn't Samsung moving away from Android? LG confirmed for Samsung v2
Samsung can't move away from Android, that's not happening no matter how much they want to. Besides, I feel like the LG G2 is the first step in being different from Samsung.
Shit, how the hell am i supposed to fix the sound coming only from the left speaker in my headphones. The headphones are working correctly. Edit: Nevermind, it magically repaired itself.
