If im understanding this correctly we dont even have to pretend to take screenshots because downloading and using this method is essentially the picture right there...
lol and it made even simpler when your phone is rooted.
It like the devs didnt even think this through or they didnt care in the first place.
no, it automatically downloads when you view it. You don't have to do anything and there is no deletion. Snapchat saves the picture on your internal memory with a .nomedia extension so its invisible until you tear into the folder.
Basically, snapchat isn't.
you're the first person I'e seen that didn't fall in love with the one as soon as they saw it
also the one is like the best phone out there right now, buy it cos you won't find anything better
tbh i don't really love it
i think it looks sorta nice but i just don't feel it
I use microSD not just for the extra storage, but because MTP is horrible. With microSD, I regularly pop it out and put it in my card reader to load a new season of TV. microSD is a good enough standard for media.
I don't swap batteries, but I like to install extended batteries. I know there are battery cases that clip on and plug into the microUSB port, but those seem more awkward (one battery charging the other is weird when you could just have one bigger battery). I agree that I wouldn't need removable batteries if they actually started putting bigger ones in to begin with. It's a shame that the RAZR MAXX is the only phone with a decent battery capacity.
I just use AirDroid so I don't have to fumble with anything. I don't actually have issues with battery life. If I did I would get an external battery pack anyways.
Is that one that you've viewed already? Or is it one that's waiting to be opened?
one that's waiting to be opened. i don't think you're actually able to download pictures that have self deleted or you have already viewed
one that's waiting to be opened. i don't think you're actually able to download pictures that have self deleted or you have already viewed
afaik the ones that you get before opening are already on your device
and yes the ones that have self destructed are already there
one that's waiting to be opened. i don't think you're actually able to download pictures that have self deleted or you have already viewed
you just extract the files to the computer. They do it in the video.
[editline]9th May 2013[/editline]
Hey, I wonder if a cache cleaner like Clean Master would delete the files?
Unless Clean MAster can't see .nomedia stuff.
afaik the ones that you get before opening are already on your device

odd, i'm doing the same exact process and i'm only able to see ones i haven't opened yet
It's because they're doing the process that you'd normally do to recover files you've deleted off your computer. The files are still there but they are not directly accessible

Yes, I've used AirDroid for small things, but it's still much slower for transferring entire TV seasons. Anyway, we'll agree to disagree on our individual usage habits.
Obligatory, likely bi-weekly question: If I were to buy an android phone right now, what should I get, or is there anything coming out soon I should wait for? I'm a media nut and I'm not hard on my phones.

This is the sort of thing that I wouldn't do. I barely watch movies/listen to music, so 99% of my usage is internet and gaming. Some camera, some miscellaneous stuff.

If you need more than 50 gigs of apps, games, and media, go get an S4 with 64 gigs and then invest in the highest end UHS-1 64 gig microSD card you can. Otherwise, go for the One. The speakers make media consumption so much better in my opinion, especially if you're watching something like a youtube video with friends.

Are microSD transfer speeds really that much better? from my experience my home network seems to be about as fast, or faster than USB 2.0 although I haven't done much USB file transfers in ages and the ones I have done have been through MTP, which as you rightly said, sucks cock so deep the bell end's wearing the appendix as a little hat
someone needs to make a phone that supports USB 3.0 transfers

don't get an s4, it's shit and you're compromising the user experience of the entire phone for expandable storage space that you don't need if you're not an HD porn addict or some shit

It's entirely possible that I just have a really slow router.
EDIT: I could probably live with a 32 GB internal-storage-only phone. Never 16 GB, since that's about 12 GB usable and I regularly hit 20 GB. So that definitely rules out the Nexus 4 for me, but not the One even if I were forced to get 32 GB instead of 64.
I run out of space on my 16GB internal on my S2 quite a bit but I've got a 32GB microSD in there to compensate which I hardly ever touch.
On my 32GB iTouch which I had before this I never ran out of space, and this was with me jailbreaking it the day after I got it and putting loads of shit on there with iFunBox and installing all the apps I could. 32GB should be the minimum acceptable for phones, and thankfully manufacturers other than apple are getting there.

It's the one that get shipped with the phone. :)

Okay, so my roommate recently had his phone replaced by the carrier because he's had nothing but issues with it. They swapped him from an LG revolution to a droid razr M. So the phone is cool and all, but it won't even charge without some shitty proprietary "motorola device manager" software and he still can't transfer files through the cable. Surely there is some alternative or fix for this.
Also my phone hasn't charged past 50% for a year and suddenly it decided that it wanted to. -yay-
The S4 and One are basically much closer. Stop reading GSMArena because they fucking blow at all testing ever. Anandtech is basically the ONLY real website for technical smartphone testing.
Basically, don't bother with the Z unless you absolutely need waterproofing like someone's girlfriend that has killed 4 or so phones from water damage.
The S4 is only a good option if you absolutely want AMOLED saturation and contrast, you want removable battery, microSD, you want Touchwiz, and you do most of your photos in good lighting on the phone.
For everything else, the One is basically the better choice. Better screen calibration and viewing angles, better outdoor visibility, better battery life, better indoor/low light camera, better radio reception, better speakers, better FFC.
I could literally write five thousand words comparing the two but I'm so burnt out from /r/android's sheer retardation that I really can no longer handle just how shit these people are at technical understanding.
The SGS4's screen isn't badly calibrated at all: http://www.displaymate.com/Galaxy_S4_ShootOut_1.htm
The SGS4 is slightly faster as well, so there's that. The SGS4 is a good choice whether you "absolutely want x". Sure, the HTC One is many ways a better phone, but in my opinion it's blown out of proportion.
A couple of days I bought an i9000 off ebay, it came running eclare 2.1
I followed a guide to rooting it by installing a tar via heimdall, however this soft bricked it and when I turned it on it would just get stuck on the samsung logo. My phone seemed to suffer from the 3 button bug and therefore I had to get a jig for it which I received this morning.
I then tried to fix it by using this guide: http://forum.cyanogenmod.org/topic/6...p/#entry356900
Bassically I used odin to install the EU samsung firmware, odin said everything went fine and it all passed, however I can no longer turn my phone on.
Screen stays blank, I tried putting batery in, jig in and connecting it to my pc to see if it was just the screen that wasnt responding but still nothing in odin.
Someone please tell me I havent bricked my phone 2 days after getting it.
If it's not being forced into download mode by the jig, you're fucked mate.
where did you find it under? droidexplorer is prob your best bet
Android/data/data/.com.snapchat.android
I used FX File explorer with the root explorer addon
I never knew it was possible to brick a Galaxy S. My friend ran over his with a car, dropped it in the ocean, then tried to soft brick it. Still works.

Those things have nothing to do with bricking a phone..

Fuck, what I thought :'(
Those things have nothing to do with bricking a phone..
I know that, but the fact of doing that to a phone, including software based things that should fuck up a phone, pulling out battery in the middle of a flash pulling out the cord in the middle of a flash, then doing what he physically did to it. How it still worked is way beyond me.

the device manager is just the drivers. Download and ignore.
And to transfer files, make sure hes in MTP mode.
devices that require a data connection over usb to charge are literally the worst
ps3 controller needs it, means i can't use my mintyboost for it
I really should stop browsing XDA...

Just visited XDA again to update my ROM.
Oh god. Now I know why I never visit that [DEL]forum[/DEL] giant circlejerk.

I'm surprised you guys have such an issue with MTP. I haven't really had any issues with it, short of using it in Linux. Does about 10 MB/s which does circles around my wireless G network, where I'm lucky if I get a solid 1 MB/s.
