Innovation in the mobile space is dead anyway. Innovation is not a stylus and software gimmicks, innovation is not a thumbprint reader. The market has stalled.
Apple arguably delivered on innovation with the 5S with fingerprint unlock that doesn't suck, ARM v8 SoC, and a better camera in general.
Is there an alarm clock app that syncs across multiple devices?

Would anyone have an idea why no matter what I download from the play store, it seems to think it's a large file, so I can't download things on my data anymore since large files require WiFi. [editline]25th September 2013[/editline] Wow, this kid looking over my shoulder said that Facepunch looks like Twitter.
Apple arguably delivered on innovation with the 5S with fingerprint unlock that doesn't suck, ARM v8 SoC, and a better camera in general.
Except the fingerprint scanner was exploited within a matter of days...
So on the topic of Android Games, Star Command is probably, hopefully, finally, soon for release in the Play Store. Bout FUKIN TIME
Except the fingerprint scanner was exploited within a matter of days...
Did you expect otherwise? it's just a fingerprint scanner, not some black magic stuff. It's made to bring convenient security for those who have no security at all.
some black magic stuff.
It was advertised as such.
Touch ID can also be used as a secure way to approve purchases from the iTunes Store®, App Store or iBooks Store℠.
http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2013/09/10Apple-Announces-iPhone-5s-The-Most-Forward-Thinking-Smartphone-in-the-World.html [editline]25th September 2013[/editline]
All fingerprint information is encrypted and stored securely in the Secure Enclave inside the A7 chip on the iPhone 5s; it’s never stored on Apple servers or backed up to iCloud®.
The word "secure" appears 4 times in that paragraph.
A fingerprint scanner that doesn't suck isn't innovation, its finishing what laptops started years ago. My mom had a laptop with a fingerprint scanner when I was a freshman in highschool. Additionally, the atrix had a fingerprint scanner before really any other phone, right? Innovation was the first iPhone. It changed the way we interact with technology. How many times did we tap on screens just to test if they were touch or not before the iPhone? Never. That's innovation. [editline]25th September 2013[/editline] Regardless of the company it came from. [editline]25th September 2013[/editline] Also, there was a small spider in my shirt and i caught it trying to crawl into my beard and now I'm all squirmy and nervous...
I kinda miss my atrix. That fingerprint scanner was one of those seemingly gimmicky features that actually ended up saving me shitloads of time and effort. Also would kill for HDMI out. I know my N4 has Miracast and I think can output from the USB port or something (with an adaptor or some such; correct me if I'm wrong). But being able to slap a mini-regular HDMI cable in to my atrix and then mirror it on any screen was sweet as fuck.

Their great talent is understanding what features and innovation make a product desirable. Were there MP3 players before the iPod? Yeah but the iPod was a whole other level of usability and polish, same with touchscreen phones before the iPhone, they existed but they were just glorified feature phones with a cool input method. Same with the fingerprint scanner; sure there was one on the atrix but the one on the 5S is polished as fuck and is a really cool/useful feature.

The one on the Atrix worked ok. That, and the only reason the fingerprint scanner is going to have so much adoption is because its tied to the iphone. The iPod, as you said, gained it's adoption on merit alone. The iPhone gained it's market share based on the merits of the iPod and the ecosystem that already existed, along with the polish and refinement of the touchscreen and build. The fingerprint scanner is literally just some tech they got from a buyout and stuffed into the 5S to make it seem better than the 5C.
Oh yeah it's nowhere near as revolutionary as the first iphone, but they did take a somewhat inelegant piece of tech and made it usable by all, which is sort of what they do.
Wow, this kid looking over my shoulder said that Facepunch looks like Twitter.
I browsed LMAO pics at a break in School, a guy in my class said it was a 9gag ripoff.
recently bought a Samsung Galaxy Ace 2, and wow, i'm still pissed at its inability to differentiate between my SD card and its 'USB storage', the massive amount of internal storage that the OS takes up (advertised as 4 GB, left with 2 GB?) and the lack of SD card moveable apps.
I browsed LMAO pics at a break in School, a guy in my class said it was a 9gag ripoff.
Some people from my class actually started using Facepunch faster they saw me using it, and the content it provides. Now I don't know if it's a good idea to have people who go to school with you on facepunch, cause some read everything you post.
Yeah... I treat Facepunch like Fight Club.
It gets awkward when I have a Facepunch Logo patch on my jacket, some yelled facepunch while I was infront of a class a year ago.
Lol I cab imagine the looks you get.
I get worse looks when I wear the Taiwan flag patch, especially from some Chinese people.
So a friend of mine bought Galaxy S + or something like that, and the first thing he did was rooting and flashing CM. It is his first Android phone. So proud.
are there any custom kernels I can download for paranoid android on the nexus 4 that are better than the stock one? i'd like to tweak the fuck out of this phone so I get the best out of it also, noob question: are custom kernels rom-independent or do you need one specifically for your ROM? never flashed one before [editline]25th September 2013[/editline] OK so I've found a kernel that's apparently pretty decent but there's two zip options, one labelled AOSP and one not. What's the difference? help http://android.h0st.to/?dir=nexus4%2Fkernel%2Fhells-Core%2F4.3

Ordered the Galaxy Note 3 :v:
Paranoid Android is AOSP based, so i'd imagine thats the one you'd want.
Makes sense, here goes...
I get worse looks when I wear the Taiwan flag patch, especially from some Chinese people.
Growing up in Vancouver with all the exchange students really gives you an appreciation for how much Chinese students hate Taiwan.
Ordered the Galaxy Note 3 :v:
Do tell me how it is. I'm very happy with my Note 2 but I'm still a loser who likes new technology.
I'm still a loser who likes new technology.
What's wrong with you?!
Flashed it, runs way better than stock but I installed a 'JWR' kernel while PA uses 'JSS' - what these acronyms mean I have no fucking idea but to me it means mental screen tearing reminiscent of a bad acid trip - gonna reflash a different and slightly better documented kernel where the official website isn't in german. Oop turns out that PA is a 'JWR' ROM and it's 'JSS' kernels that cause a shitton of tearing, it just so happens though that the kernel I flashed, while being a 'JWR' kernel, was an unfinished version that exhibited the exact same visual artifacts that you get from installing a JSS kernel on a JWR kernel got it sorted now though yay!
