Do you guys know of any apps/tweaks that make notifications pop up on the lock screen without having to pull down the notification bar? I switched over from iOS and personally liked how it showed the notifications right on the lock screen. Something similar to that would be nice.
There's DashClock, but you need to be running 4.2 or newer to install it, as 4.2 officially supported lockscreen widgets.

If you have 4.2+, you can use NiLS. There's this nice feature that allows the latest notification to take priority so you don't have to expand the notification in order to see it, but I haven't been able to configure it. I've seen it around XDA though, so YMMV.
If you want something simple that's like DashClock but for all notifications, there's Locky. It'll show your notifications on the side of the clock without expanding it, but that still requires and extra step. Not my cup of tea.
You can also get a lockscreen replacement like LockerPro. It looks kind of like the iOS 6 lockscreen, as it'll show your notifications in a list like that on the lockscreen. I personally hate the way the lockscreen ring looks, but you might.
Now, if you want to use the lockscreen widgets, you can the Xposed Framework and this mod. I'm not 100% sure it'll work on your device though, so you'll have to test it out yourself.
However, if you use CM, you can just enable "maximize lockscreen widgets" or something in the lockscreen menu in settings.
because the last developer of an FP app went rogue and at one point was laughing about how people logging onto it can give him passwords and shit but don't worry I won't do anything with them I promise
I know the storied history of FPapp but surely the idea to contract out app development to an actual mobile dev instead of joe-nobody gold member has been considered?
Is getting selected for the Hangouts update special or something? I've had it for like 3 months but I flashed the older Talk app because it's horrendously slow on my phone. I don't have a front facing camera on my phone so it seemed pretty pointless to me.

No, there's just a dot release in a staged rollout right now. You're just lucky if you get it this quick (I waited a week for the gmail redesign to hit me).
Anybody else using MIUI?
Anybody else using MIUI?
I used it for a week on my old phone but didn't really like it, it felt too closed and too much like iOS.
If I wanted iOS, whats the point in getting an android phone?
Anybody else using MIUI?
That's the Xiaomi ROM, right? Never tried it but it's apparently pretty nice to use
I got a new phone, a Butterfly clone. 1920x1080 screen and they sent me the version with 2GB RAM by mistake. £150 no customs charges. How in the fuck can mediatek push soc's this cheap

I don't know how closed the ROM is in terms of features but I'm sure it has your regular Play Store support to download any apps you want

Doesn't it have its own proprietary store with servers located in buttfuck-nowhere so that it takes ages to load anything?
At least that's what I remember...

That's for the theming engine, but you can just sideload any themes like you would APK's. It uses the Play Store still though.

Is it possible to get the chromecast app outside of the USA? I recently acquired a chromecast stick, however you need the app obviously.

There's probably an .apk uploaded somewhere, just google about
Can't tell if it's just my mind paying tricks on me but it feels like PA throttles performance when the battery on my N7 drops below 25% battery.

Could it be a heat thing? LiIon batteries run hotter through the last ~15%

Thaaaat explaaaains everything.
Anyone here tried Star Command ? It looks neat, and it would help with commuting. I just wonder if it's massive power draw (and fun)
Star Command is OK, although I'm waiting for the PC version, and got the Android one for free for being a backer of the PC Kickstarter. There were a few bugs but they've been patching it every day it seems so far through the humble android app. It's kinda like FTL, except with more depth and ship customisation. Also for anyone interested in these kind of games, the sequel to Pocket Planes, Pocket Trains, just came out in the play store.

vBulletin is modified to hell and back, so an outside dev who hasn't been here for a long time wouldn't know how shit works around here.
Also Garry does not give two shits about mobile users.

He basically said that he didn't care about improving anything for mobile users

Have you been unlocking ever since that service launched? :v:
Bought a galaxy S4 mini duos for my dad. What can I do with it before I gift it to him? Never had any samsungs before

More or less.
[editline]26th September 2013[/editline]
I'm not gonna cash out yet, though. I might wait a while longer. It might be more beneficial to give myself $15 at some point instead of getting $10 now and waiting to get $10 again.

I would have to put it on all my devices in order to make anything substantial. I've been carrying 3 devices with me since I put CM on my old phone. If I still carried my MP3 player it would be 4.
I would use my Evo 3D as a music player but I totally forgot to reinsert the ribbon cable for the headphone jack, which isn't useful at all. :I

Shit there goes my free time.
Also I'm loving Star Command so far. It runs quite nicely on my aged Captivate, which makes me smile inside.

To be fair, mobile phone browsers have gotten significantly better over the past few years so at least browsing the desktop version is bearable.

Reminds me of FTL, haven't played it enough to say whether or not it devours my battery.
Opera mini has got really shitty nowadays. Oh wait, it was always been the case with random, unexpected freezes out of nowhere to lose some opened pages and typed text.
It's a shame that I have to use it so the provider won't count the data (aka unlimited mobile net use). Otherwise it's capped at 90 MB each month.
