a million times worse than nova
eh? How's that? It works beautifully for me. Then again, I don't do any super complex homescreen modifications or anything.
Action Launcher Pro has a million great ideas but not the best coding. Lot's of bugs and occasional spotty performance. Nova Launcher is a classic launcher that does normal Android things and is ultra fast and stable.
• the screen has a disturbing purple-trail effect in when stuff scrolls on a pure black background, this happens only at lowest brightness
This again? Samsung already knows that the purple-trail effect happens when they invoke high latency as a result of completely turning off pixels.
• the phone tends to heat up near the top quite frighteningly when doing intensive applications. might be an advantage in the winter but hasn't overheated yet for me
Everything these days is up against the thermal wall for performance, such is life with smartphones.
• good battery life, 3h30 of on screen time over here
If all you're doing is screen-related things, that's terrible IMO. [editline]29th September 2013[/editline]
Tried to take apart my Evo 3D. Fucking torx screws. Oh well, I didn't need the plastic that it attached to anyway. This is why we buy pocketknives. [editline]28th September 2013[/editline] Also did I need that Sprint antenna soldered to the motherboard? Whoops. Not like this phone was ever going to see actual phone use anyway
The Evo 3D is a piece of cake to take apart compared to other phones, Torx isn't even a big deal.
To me, Torx screws aren't even there for security, it's just idiot proofing to stop dumbasses from ripping their phones apart I like how the PS3 did it, one security bit holding the thin faceplate on, then the actual body screws under that were all regular phillips heads [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] It even had two different lengths of screw, with an indicator on where the longer ones were supposed to go
Nova Launcher is a classic launcher that does normal Android things and is ultra fast and stable.
Unfortunately widget placement on Nova is locked to grid and resizing grid resizes all your other icons. Fucking annoying.
3h30m on the Note 3? Holy fuck, even my Nexus 4 gets more than that on average.
I'm still using an SGSII and the microphone broke (it's really hard to understand me now) and I want to get a new phone. What are the best Androids right now? I want good developer support, I need at least 20GB of storage (or µSD) and a screen between 4.5 and 5.3 inches.
This again? Ah crap, after using the Deepsleep battery Saver my wifi is stuck on permanently OFF. Only a reboot fixes this.. How ever battery consumption is now at 0.5% per hour.
My overclocked HTC Desire Z with a now 3 year old battery with excessive use and overclocking over all of them still lasts longer than my GF's Galaxy S4 with the horrid stock rom. I generally make it to the end of the day before needing to charge where her's under her constant use lasts maybe 12 hours.. I love my new LG 4X HD, 1.5GHz Quadcore and 4.7 inch screen for 250€, which is actually a better deal than the Nexus 4 was here in Germany.
Is Sony Xperia Z1 any good? I've been thinking of upgrading from my Galaxy S II for some time.
Is Sony Xperia Z1 any good? I've been thinking of upgrading from my Galaxy S II for some time.
Not sure if you can read Norwegian, but I know a lot of Finish people who can read Swedish, and therefor Norwegian :v: http://www.amobil.no/artikler/test-sony-xperia-z1/137511 Basically they're blown away because it's so damn good. I have yet to see someone say anything bad about it, other than the fact that Z Ultra got a slight better display.
but I know a lot of Finish people who can read Swedish,
You just signed your death wish pal. You 1) typed Finnish wrong 2) implied we can read Swedish 3) don't live on the other side of the ocean, safe.
Chill bro, go in the sauna for a few moments to cool off. I'll bring the alcohol.
You just signed your death wish pal. Other than that. Sorry :c
why are torx screws on phones such a problem? they are more secure and if you really want to get in to your phone buying a torx set won't set you back more than $5
The Active has a slightly more muted feel to it compared to my Galaxy Note, but on the other hand the Active probably has a "normal" screen while the SAMOLED stuff has always been over saturated.
normal screens are normal makeup and samoled is the makeup clowns wear
At least the Note 3 isn't oversaturated and crushing blacks unlike the S3, so I'm okay with the slight-purple-trail-with-pure-blacks-on-pure-white-on-low-brightness problem [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] Woke up to a battery almost drained by a system audio wakelock that lasted 18 hours though. boooo [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] Isn't Android 4.4 ditching wakelocks for a new system? I thought I heard about something like that on a linux kernel discussion
I personally liked Apex Launcher. But, if people says Nova's good too. I may try it soon...
Uh. So I logged in my google account on my dad's S4 mini (no point in registering him, he'll forget the credentials a day later), I downloaded all the apps I needed from the play store, and deleted my contacts. But it keeps saying that "too many contacts are deleted" and if I select "do nothing" it'll show again soon. Is there any way to not synchronize it ever again without deleting whatever is left in the phone?

Don't be so lazy, make him his own account, sharing an account is bound to get you in trouble at some point. Second, you can easily disable syncing of pretty much everything via settings > accounts (I think it's a separate tab in touchwiz), click google and deselect the contacts checkbox.
The amount of RAM on the Note 3 is even more cool than I thought I played a resource-intensive 3D game (Need for Speed), then I just hit the home button, forgot about the game, noticed it a day later in my recent apps list, and what do you know: it hadn't been cleared away from memory despite me launching like 12 apps and browsing w/ a ton of tabs in the meantime. It resumed exactly from where I had left it This is real nice

Eh. Alright, I'll create a new one. [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] It's still not gone, wtf. Selecting "undo deleting" does nothing though [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] "deleting" does nothing as well. I'll try to reboot now [editline]29th September 2013[/editline] Gone I guess
Wait a month for the Nexus 5 if you possibly can.
I'm not sure if it's worth waiting that long for an announcement. The Nexus 4 only came to Austria much later than the rest of the world and cost much more too. Add to that, that the biggest storage available was a hilariously small 16GB. I'm not very excited for a new Nexus to be honest. I've been thinking about getting an Xperia Z or G2 because I've heard good things about them. I just realized that the Xperia Z is getting a successor, so I guess that would be a possibility too. The G2 looks good too, but I'm not sure when and if the 32GB version comes to Austria and if it's going to be significantly more expensive than the 16GB version. I've also heard that Sony is even releasing open source AOSP builds for the Xperia Z which is super awesome.

They just hid the screws under the feet, and the screws were about as long as the case height in their respective area.
I figured out the problem with my attempt to install CM10.1.3. I was installed the gapps for 10.2 rather than the gapps for 10.1. So now I'm running Titanium Backup real quick and I'm going to flash 10.1.3 as soon as its finished. I'd like to do 10.2 but I think I'm going to wait until it hits RC status for my phone (SGH-T989 hercules Galaxy S2)
