I'm surprised you guys have such an issue with MTP. I haven't really had any issues with it, short of using it in Linux. Does about 10 MB/s which does circles around my wireless G network, where I'm lucky if I get a solid 1 MB/s.
when using MTP, my explorer.exe always stops responding, when trying to create a new folder.
when using MTP, my explorer.exe always stops responding, when trying to create a new folder.
Huh, that's bizarre. Never had that happen before in XP-8. Strangely enough, for me, it just...works.
When you see a person with an ipad, iPhone, iPod, or other device with no case on it. You see that screen? that’s made out of glass. if you drop it the screen will break. If you invest your hard earned money on a device, especially one with a glass screen, you need to buy a case to protect it. And you know what’s worse? when a person doesn’t have a case on their $500 iphone, and it gets shattered because they didn’t have a case on it. why have a device worth that much if you’re not gonna take care of it? The takeaway: as long as you have a glass screen device, you should have a case on it.
My response:
I disagree with this for a couple of reasons: 1) some devices, like the HTC One or most Motorola phones, are plenty durable without the case. A good, solid body and a lifted, plastic bezel and chamfered glass with a screen protector (if necessary) is about as safe as you can make it without a case, which brings me to my second point: 2) cases ruin the aesthetic of a device. People tend to get way too much case for their device. Take the glass backed Nexus 4. It is a beautiful, gorgeous phone with an incredible aesthetic. The most case you need on it is a bumper, unless you work in tougher conditions. There is no excuse for an otterbox on that phone. Same goes for the One, or the iPhone, or any other product with a clear focus on aesthetic and feel “in the hand.” I use my RAZR Maxx naked because it has the bezel and chamfered glass I mentioned earlier, and it also has the kevlar backing. That phone is a tank. I used to use one of the silicon skin cases on everything, but I decided it really didn’t make much difference with the build quality of the device. I also decided I was cheating myself out of a great “in the hand” experience because I was worried about scuffing a little plastic. So unless you work in conditions that are tough on devices or you are really clumsy (and self-aware enough to know it), you don’t really need to go nuts with the case. If you’ve got a glass back or screen glass that is flush an lacks a plastic bezel, get a bumper case and a screen protector. Otherwise, your naked One or RAZR (or similarly well built device) will probably be fine.
Anyone knows a good HTC Wildfire S rom? I want to avoid xda 1337 pro nocharge v6 supercharger bravia engine oc 2 beats and whatsoever roms, but I don't know any other alternative site.
when using MTP, my explorer.exe always stops responding, when trying to create a new folder.
Mine also stops responding when trying to copy multiple files. I can only copy one at a time through MTP.
I think my i9300 is dying. Went to flash a new rom, CWM is ridiculously slow. Flashed the rom, it was slow as well. Tried with a new rom, exactly the same.
Try leaving your phone off (like entirely powered off) for a few minutes. Might be throttling itself because of heat.
Does anyone knows an alternative and interesting launcher for Gingerbread? Also, an cool live wallpaper, i want to make my homescreen prettier.
The best live wallpaper is Origami.
why doesn't my phone (xperia sola) show up in my "my devices" in the play store? it's been like that ever since i installed an unofficial jellybean stock rom on it
I don't know. All I know is that mine says "3 HTC HTC One X".
Would you guys recommend I get the S4 or HTC One, or wait for the Note 3? I have a note 2 and love it.
If you want a larger display then wait for the Note 3. It will most likely be a bigger S4.
If you want a larger display then wait for the Note 3. It will most likely be a bigger S4.
I feel like I should go a non-samsung route Basically what do you guys think of the HTC One as compared to the S4?
I feel like I should go a non-samsung route Basically what do you guys think of the HTC One as compared to the S4?
HTC One feels better and looks better. S4 beats it in benchmark tests though, but only by a few points. The One's camera is superior compared to the S4.
Also Samsung are slimy bastards who spread lies abut the One in order to make themselves look better.
The SGS4's screen isn't badly calibrated at all: http://www.displaymate.com/Galaxy_S4_ShootOut_1.htm The SGS4 is slightly faster as well, so there's that. The SGS4 is a good choice whether you "absolutely want x". Sure, the HTC One is many ways a better phone, but in my opinion it's blown out of proportion.
122% sRGB gamut, fucked up gamma, color shifting on change in viewing angles, and stuff like ink splotching, DC Bias (it still doesn't go completely off on blacks), odd effects from the very low amount of active area on the display, etc etc... Don't get me wrong, it is not the trainwreck that was the GS1 and Galaxy Nexus, but it still has the same major issues that it's always had. The cognitive dissonance that goes on around OLED when people bang the drum of mDNIe settings fixing calibration when that is demonstrably false is ridiculous. Apple continues to be the best at display quality. Samsung is still missing the mark. [editline]10th May 2013[/editline]
Also Samsung are slimy bastards who spread lies abut the One in order to make themselves look better.
Of course, but I think anyone trying to pretend that any of these OEMs are morally superior are deluding themselves. These are businesses out to profit. [editline]10th May 2013[/editline]
Cross posting from XDA
You fucked up when you flashed the 3 button fixer. JTAG time. Don't worry. I did the same thing twice.
Found a live wallpaper that i think its cool, name is PixelFleet. Now i just need an great launcher (Excluding GO Launcher, which is slow as fuck).
It is annoying that Go Launcher has the most features but is one of the slowest launchers. Any other launchers that supports folders in app drawer, recent apps page and task manager?
Just bought an S3, debating on whether or not I should of got an S4. I'll wait until S7.
My 32gb sd card just died on me rip all my music + 3 rom backups
But but the cloud [editline]10th May 2013[/editline] SD cards have a chance of being saved, so try to save it
But but the cloud [editline]10th May 2013[/editline] SD cards have a chance of being saved, so try to save it
Woah, how does that work? idk if its past saving or not. I was listening to music saved on the card when it stopped. Then I restarted the phone and played some more music, then it stopped again and now my S2 won't detect it
Try using a cardreader
But but the cloud [editline]10th May 2013[/editline] SD cards have a chance of being saved, so try to save it
If its anything like my 16 GB that died, its far past the point of being saved. I put it in several different phones and card readers...nothing even acknowledged its existence.
I had a similar issue with an external harddrive, until eventually one computer said it was corrupt and would chkdsk it. BE HOPEFUL!!
Yeah my SD card magically corrupted itself the other day, it broke about 20GB worth of music, other files were still okay. Not much of a hassle since I keep an SD mirror on my computer and all I had to do was copy it back across. A bit annoying though. Is it because we are using FAT32 which is not journaled? Should we be using Ext4 or something?
Journaling helps a good bit against corruption

It corrupted all my music first, so I copied it back over yesterday, and then today it just crapped on me.
I plan to upgrade my to-be-delivered S3 sometime in the future, any recommendations? [sub][sub][sub]amazon has said Shipping Now for 2 days now.. 2 day shipping, too.[/sub][/sub][/sub]
