Snatched myself a free Galaxy Nexus 0_0 (my uncle gave t away, since he decided to buy himself a HTC One)
So a new phone still can wait... well, until i'll find time to go to Sony gallery, and find myself a good Xperia.
Is the best solution for using a tablet as a mobile computer where it can transfer stuff off a memory card from a camera and onto USBs or an external hard drive, completely mobile without an external power source would require a tablet than can support MHL or whatever that USB interface is and 2 USB inputs. Also which tablet :v:
All files will go to USB or USB powered external hard drive (while on the go so might as well use USBs or SSDs to avoid vibrations and stuff).
I'm thinking:
-Nexus 7 (2013) 32GB model, maybe 4G if uploading on the go without WiFi would work, or just tether
-MHL adapter with 2 USB sockets or get a splitter
-small USB powered card reader that accepts SD and CF cards
-USB for storage
What will probably happen is getting a case and then taping the card reader and some other stuff onto it.
The Xperia Z Ultra seems like the perfect phone. Too bad it is almost the size of my sister's iPad mini.
At least I am not shopping for a phone at the moment.
So I recently got a 9300mAh battery for my Note2. Phone lasted 2 days off the initial charge. On the second day I wasn't even trying to conserve battery cause I needed to fully discharge it a few times (according to the manual).
I wonder if Zerolemon's Note 2 batteries are compatible with the Note 3, seeing as the size of the phone didn't change?

The size of the phone did change. Imperceptibly, but probably just enough to cause battery incompatibility (the size of the actual battery compartment might be even more different). The Note 2 is 151.1 x 80.5 x 9.4 mm; the Note 3 is 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm.
Ended up getting the Humble Mobile Bundle. For anyone that is thinking of doing it, get it for Star Command alone. Fun humor, addictive game, very pretty game (pixel graphics are well done and backgrounds very nice) and a good time kill. Probably played it around 2 hrs today and the story missions are really fun so far
EDIT: I'm impressed that they actually managed to shave off 0.65 mm of body width while increasing screen width by around 2.5 mm. This means they shaved the bezel by 3.15 mm. Assuming it was around 4 mm on the Note 2 (like the S3), it's less than 1 mm now on the Note 3.
EDIT: my math on the screen size is full of conversions and loss of precision, so maybe the bezel isn't that small, but still
Hahaha I've finally cast off the abominable Exhibit, and am now sporting a galaxy s3 with cyanogen nightly. Muahaha
I'm convinced that cyanogenmod Stable, RC, and M snapshots are a myth.
I'm running stable 10.1.3.
It's a thing.

Not even my Google device has anything other than nightly. Maybe I'm just unlucky with my devices.
What device?

It most definitely does have RC and M snapshots.
Yo, I was wondering if you guys could recommend me a half decent android phone with at least a 480p res. I've never had an android phone before, but I've taken a bit of a liking to my little bro's alcatel one touch, but I'm not a fan of the size. I'm not massively bothered about anything other than it having a decent screen size, and not costing a massive amount of money.
I also got a WonderMedia WM8650, one of those Chinese knock-off tablets, and it's a bit jank, but it can browse the net without dying, so it's not too bad.
So I got a 2013 Nexus 7 for my birthday. I'm planning to flash a custom rom on it, but I'm curious about the display calibration. I know the display is calibrated twice during production. Once by the panel maker, and again during the final manufacturing stage. What I'm curious about is if you lose any of the calibration when you flash a custom rom.
I ask because I have a Nexus 4, and most of the roms/kernels have some crappy eyeballed screen calibration. I doubt people are doing that with the Nexus 7, since it's supposed to have a good panel. But knowing they can do that makes me wonder if the calibration data from the final calibration is actually stored in the rom.
Anyone know anything about this? I'd like to have a custom rom, but I don't want to mess up the display calibration.

There aren't any good Andros phones with less than effectively 720p. We need a budget more than specs to help you out. also, will you be buying on contract or no?

IIRC it's in the kernel. Don't flash a kernel and you'll be fine.
In other news:
FCC website is now offline, no more equipment will be certified until such time that the US government isn't running at 3% employee capacity.
good thing the nextus got certified already
My HTC Desire Z/G2 is running 10.1.3 which is technically stable as well, although it officially hasn't been supported by Cyanogenmod since CM7. It actually runs far better under CM10 than it ever did CM7, everything is far quicker and it slows down much less. It's a pitty HTC never at least gave it ICS when it was for a short while a flagship essentially.
It's a wonder what happens when a device is supported by the community rather than a manufacturer. I was on the verge of almost tossing the phone when I just decided to try out some other roms, I fell in love with the phone again and have got a solid 3 years of use now.

Not on contract, preferably not that much more than about £100
Expecting dumb/optimistic rating

Yeah, very optimistic. Looks like you're gonna be looking for a used phone thats either cheap new (Nexus 4) or a couple generations old.

Half-decent. £100 retail. Sir, your optimism is greater than that of a five-year-old who wants to cure cancer, eliminate poverty, and colonize the solar system.
IDK how the used market looks in the UK (I'm assuming that's where you are), but it's generally pretty strong in the US.
Yeah it's definitely gonna have to be used; I'd recommend maybe a Galaxy S2.
But buying used is generally OK. I would get the Nexus for support reasons. Because they're sold out, they'll probably be going at a premium now, but if you wait till late Oct, early Nov, they should be pretty affordable used.

That's pretty funny, though not everyone cares about benchmarks.
Not only did my phone suddenly get official CM10.2, but they skipped over 10.1 with just one experimental build.
Aside from a black screen here and there when trying to unlock and one mishap with the camera it's really stable

Did they seriously not expect someone to uncover this

The funniest part is that, according to the article it's the second time Samsung has pulled a stunt like that using the GS4.
I attempted to do a nandroid backup on my S4, but there was an error doing it. So, I rebooted my device instead. Gets stuck in a bootloop. I fixed the bootloop problem, however.
but wtf happened with the error
if even we got it over here before Canada I'm pretty sure that there's a major legal issue that Google can't get past yet.
Speaking of that I wonder if All Access will ever defeat GEMA in Germany...
If we have Rdio there's nothing standing in the way of Spotify or Google from doing the same. Their excuse is the legal climate but I don't buy it anymore
High five. Which variant? I'm sporting a d2att
EDIT: if you ever want a bigger battery for the S3, get a ZeroLemon
d2spr
Working beautifully so far. Spotty signal in my area, made up for the fact that I can call and text through Google Voice :O
ZeroLemon looks like a really good deal, do you know how it fares with heat? If I can find a case for it, or figure out how to mod a case for it, it will pretty much definitely be on my shopping list.
