of all the things they could have replaced a menu button with, they went with the most useless?
I don't know about you, but multitasking is frustratingly slow when mapped to long press. I flat out do not use the multitasking menu when a phone does that.
On HTC's GB devices with the four buttons, I stayed on a Sense ROM no matter what just because I could multitask via notification drawer, which also held recent apps.
I got a note 3 today, what would be the best for protecting the screen? A glass protector?
Glass is best because it's basically ceramic body armor, you sacrifice ~30 dollars in the screen drop to save ~200 dollars.
It also feels incredible and is extremely clear.
IIRC it's in the kernel. Don't flash a kernel and you'll be fine.
In other news:
FCC website is now offline, no more equipment will be certified until such time that the US government isn't running at 3% employee capacity.
good thing the nextus got certified already
Sorry to bring this up again, but don't all roms usually come with a kernel? What I was trying to get at was if there was a unique calibration for each tablet in the kernel. I'm guessing what you meant is that this is not the case, and that the screen will look the same as long as I am running a stock kernel. Can anyone confirm this for me? I really want to flash PA on this thing.

technically speaking each rom has a kernel, but unless it says otherwise they use the stock kernel for your device
Any of you guys catch the article AnandTech wrote about cheating in android benchmarks? It was an interesting read.
Except it's not cheating, they're not overclocking the CPU or GPU in any way, they're just ramping the CPU to full instantly and skipping the governor.
Synthetic benchmark, meet synthetic environment. All that does is reduce variance.

Go Nexus!
Seen this pop up a lot these days, but who would seriously care about synthetic benchmarks?

So flashing a rom with a stock kernel will not have any impact on screen calibration then? I hate to nag like this, I just don't want to mess it up.

They also upped the temperature needed until the GPU clocks down and overclocked it.
Does anyone know how does Google make those phone screen gifs in some of their posts on Google+?

It's a part of auto-awesome. The pics have to be similar and taken within such-and-such a time of each other.
Just as I suspected, HOWEVER, it seems like they take a couple screenshots per second, but there's no notification about screenshots in the notification bar.
Photoshop or Android hax?
I flashed PA on my N7 and now I have a small problem. It's a 32GB model, but the internal storage shows up as 12GB. I think I have the partition table from the 16GB model. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I'm not sure. If they reach up and swipe it away before the next screenshot is taken, it would probably still auto-awesome them.
Decided that getting my Note II fixed was too stressful (Swefox said he would need to take a train to another city to pick it up...), so I said fuck it and used my brother's upgrade to buy a Galaxy Note III. He used my upgrade last time to buy his iPhone 4, so now we're "Even".

Managed to fix it. Not sure what I did wrong, but I fixed it by doing a backup, installing a factory image, installing TWRP again, and restoring the backup.
Fuck this phone is sexy. The fake leather back feels great, it reminds me of the good build quality on my BlackBerry Bold 9000. I don't want to put a case on it, but I plan on having this phone for a while so I might get another Urban Armour Gear case since the one I have for my Note 2 is light and looks really nice.
UAG Note cases for life

It is quite interesting to see the miniscule amounts of sense Android makes sometimes.
Why the hell doesn't my second gen nexus 7 work with tegrazone. It says it's compatible right on their website. My friends first gen works fine with it I don't understand.
New faces.

I honestly thought the first one said "Tranny". Anyway, should I continue?

Nice!
Samsung is technically "wrong" in how they implement the buttons on Android.
Seeing this reminded me how weird it was when i first got the N4 to use.
Its was like i was using a inverse phone all this time, everytime i got my N4, i pressed volume instead of power and app-roulette instead of back.

So these were in the box, the woman at the Rogers store didn't know what they were either. Anyone know?

Those black things look like some kind of SIM tool to get to the slot if there is one.

Do you mind expanding on this?
[editline]6th October 2013[/editline]
Actually, I think I got it, is this any better?

It looks like the border between the green and red areas is coming straight out of the blue circle.
Comparison:

I can't tell if this was an oversight or on purpose. Either way, it looks terrible.

Also, unlike the other two, the background gradient doesn't suggest depth at all.
