I'm liking 10.2 a lot. Having the quick settings in the notification shade is pretty cool. Only good idea Samsung had with Touchwiz.
Yo, for those who got a Note 3, here's a really cool thing you can do. Lock screen photos that change to super awesome pictures from around the world every so often. This is powered by the built-in version of TripAdvisor, so don't disable/uninstall it if you wanna give it a try. (not sure if the regular one from the Play Store also works) Go to settings > device > wallpaper > lock screen and select "travel wallpaper" in the selection pop-up. Your lock screen will now get a new cool picture from around the world every 3/6/12/24 hours! (you can set it to whichever). It looks like this. I'm not sure if it would switch to photos entirely based around your current abroad destination while you're travelling (don't know if the app hooks into localization services to check if you're near your home), but either way I find this really awesome.
It's a cool idea but that font contrast is ass I wish I could dim the wallpaper on 90% of lockscreens for that exact reason
Well, you said not the Note II, and considering there are 3 Galaxy Notes that are phones and 3 that are tablets, I wasn't sure. It looks like there is a CM 10.1.3 (4.2) stable build for it. I see an AOKP Milestone on XDA, nothing that I can see for paranoid android... Those are the big 3 AOSP ROMs. Based on your question, I assume you're after an AOSP ROM, correct? [editline]7th October 2013[/editline] Anyone flashed the most recent 10.2 nightlies? If so, how stable are they?
I appologise. I didn't realize there were so many "Notes" out there now. I'm not sure what I want. Can you give me a quick run down on why I should pick one over the other? I'd really appreciate it.
Flashed Devil Kernel on my Note 2 and now vibrate intensity is shit and all the kernel manager apps don't work since they're apparently for Galaxy S phones. Woohoo.

Is anyone here still using a SGSII as a daily phone? What ROM+kernel are you using and how stable is it?

I'd really appreciate it.
Honestly, I'd say go with Cyanogenmod. It's the only one with dependable, active development on your device. I'm not the guy to ask if you want a Touchwiz ROM... Though I don't know why you would want a Touchwiz ROM if you're not happy with what you have now. One of the other guys (or girls, I really don't know or care) in the thread may correct me if I'm wrong. I wouldn't go with it.
Is anyone here still using a SGSII as a daily phone? What ROM+kernel are you using and how stable is it?
I'm using it with CM 10.2 nighties and CM recovery 5.5.3.0 (is this the kernel?). I liked 10.1 more, sadly I can't revert it back without performing a factory reset. Also there is a quite severe battery drain when I turn location access on (though I think it may be caused by Wi-Fi & mobile network location function). Other than that I find it stable, I haven't had any problems with it for weeks.
Is anyone here still using a SGSII as a daily phone? What ROM+kernel are you using and how stable is it?
I don't know how to check which kernel, but I'm using cm 10.2, I actually like it better than 10.1, I had some stability issues with it. I've heard 10.3 has issues, so I'm not biting that bullet yet.
If you don't know what kernel you have, chance is you have the stock (CM) kernel. But you can check in Settings - About phone - Kernel version. pawelte1: recovery is a different thing, used for backups and flashing new ROMs etc.
If you don't know what kernel you have, chance is you have the stock (CM) kernel. But you can check in Settings - About phone - Kernel version.
Yup, that's right. It seems like i have some sort of CM kernel.
Is anyone here still using a SGSII as a daily phone?
Do you mean 10.1.3 or is there a new version out already? The latest I know of is 10.2.
ah yeah I fucked up, 10.1.3 people said they were having issues with, I'm using 10.1.2 and it works fine. Bluetooth messes up now and again, but a restart fixes it. Kernel is 3.072 (I think?)
Is there a diagnostic tool somewhere that I can use to pinpoint which apps are turning on my screen? My N4 will screen on at random like I've got a notification pretty much all the time, despite not having any new notifications.
the n4 shouldn't be screening on with any notifications to begin with
Why not go with 10? Should I go with another version and why?
PA 10 is gonna be based on CM 10, which is based on Android 4.1 (if I'm not mistaken). CM 10.1 is Android 4.2. More recent.
iirc PA isn't running off of a CM base anymore
I've been trying to root an Optimus L9 I just got, and I'm hitting a brick wall. While I can hook up the phone to a computer to transfer files just fine, the various batch files and LG iTunes knockoff can't really detect the phone in it's entireity. A few of the articles stress to use the original USB cable, but would that really make a difference? Would it be on the driver's end?

If you have a different computer (preferably windows7 so you can install UniNaked drivers) try that.

Now this is interesting. The Messaging app always felt old. http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/10/07/all-but-confirmed-google-hangouts-1-3-screenshots-suggest-smsmms-integration-video-sharing-capabilities/

Maybe I should just go back to plain CM? CM9 stable worked very, very well, but I think I'd miss Google Now.
