Knowing Asus' build quality, neither will a Transformer, mine's a few months old and the charger port is already fucked, and this is my second one as the first tablet was faulty, not connecting to the dock
Plus, a TF700 is a lot more expensive than a cheap laptop (At least it is here), which would be thousands of times better for word processing
I disagree about the build quality. I've had my transformer for almost a year and there's a couple hairline scratches on the aluminium. No other hardware problems at all. The charge port has a bad design, sure. But that's a design issue, not a materials or build issue.
And it's just a fact that you get what you pay for in tech and, if we have the same conception of "cheap", a cheap device isn't likely to be useful at all given a year or two.
Regardless, if the value of having a tablet outweighs the value of saving about a hundred bucks with a computer (as it did for me, because I already have a laptop and a desktop and I wanted something that was easier to carry around and functional), the transformer makes perfect sense. The value of having a tablet is subjective, it's not like you can put a dollar amount on fulfilling a geek urge. He asked about a tablet, I answered with a tablet and the qualification that, yeah, a chromebook or light laptop may be better under certain circumstances.
Whatsapp is down.
I've uninstalled such a long time ago...
I've never used it. Everyone I want to talk to has hangouts and SMS is still the most used messaging protocol in the US.
Looked for a feature list in Sense 5.5, they still not added a "close all" button in the multitasking menu? Is there a reason for that? It's stupid IMO to just swipe all the apps away til there are none left
Get the sense 5 toolbox. You can make it so swipe down closes everything in the recent apps. It's brilliant.
Also, I'm running sense 5.5, it's pretty cool, but not a huge update.
I read somewhere you can turn off blinkfeed in 5.5. I'm skeptical, is it true?
What is a recommeded app for any device, and is there a good game that I can sink hours into it and doesn't take up more than 10-30 MB?
I have this as my ringtone, but my phone is always on vibrate (It's either in my pocket at uni or on my desk) anyway.

And also something akin of a "jump to start" button in the apps menu would be neat too. That concludes my nitpicking from using sense 5.
I use this as my ringtone:

and this as my notification sound:

Yes. Take a look at the new features here:
Pixel Dungeon is master race game to play on the toilet.
Or anywhere. Me and a friend played it for like 40 min straight on our phones.
(Damn Dwarven Warlocks. Assholes)
I'm using a couple of the iOS7 alert tones (I'm sorry, Matias) and I really like them, but the call ringtones are no good to me.
I just use This because the intro carries surprisingly well, even in a loud room, and you will hear it if you let it run for more the 20 sec

Pulse for news, Aidiko for Ebooks, BayondPod for podcasts.
Pixel Dungeon (really good timesink, small i think), Star Command (i think it's pretty small, also good fun)
Well apparently aviate doesn't protect user data. Like, at all. It's totally world readable.
that'll make /r/Android top post in no time.

nah, probably showered in downvotes
The first MAXX I received was warranty replaced after three days because the wifi kept disconnecting itself and reconnecting causing numerous pauses in data as it switched from wifi to 4G on a near constant basis. The speaker also started hissing and making weird noises when it was supposed to be sending notifications or not supposed to be making noise at all.
The 2nd one had a very clear build quality issue where the side of the phone with the volume rocker wasn't fully sealed against the glass. It was "squishy" is the best way I could describe it and made a clicking squeaking noise.
This is in addition to the app crashing and slowing down that all the android phones I have had end up with AND the Motorola phones can't sync your Facebook photos to your contact list without a third party app. Samsung figured it out but Motorola couldn't. I had sold my S4 to get the Droid MAXX because the S4 was full of features that weren't applicable in real life. And then to get a phone with so many issues it was just the final straw for me and I jumped Androids ship and swam over to Apple's. I am much happier over here. It really does "just work".
Since switching to the iphone I haven't had issues with the force closing that android has a lot of and it hasn't slowed down once. •
This is abnormal. Like, I've never experienced anything like this from a Motorola device (of which I have owned 2 and my mom 3).
How is this even possible?
My Razr is built like a tank, especially considering how thin it is.
I want to say it sounds like user error, but I have no idea how.

Sounds like defects and poor radio firmware, pretty sure Samsung paid off Facebook so contact sync only works with Touchwiz which really shouldn't be allowed too. Facebook's sync only synced the shitty like 80x80 images anyways, Haxsync is pretty decent IMO.

I dunno about that, Sense 5 FB sync works fine too.
The facebook app is garbage, but it's quicker than loading up the browser. :P
Android OS consumes way more battery after rooting my 2013 nexus
More power than the screen
Why?

Happens to me too. Not able to figure it out. I put it on the charger before I checked betterbatterystats so I can't narrow it down right now.

Check Better Battery Stats or Wakelock Detector. Root usually doesn't change things.
So I work for some large national telecom up here in Canada now, and the training material for android listed "consistent navigation functions - home, menu, back, search" as one of the main selling points.
Also, Flash in "the most fluid browser available on mobile devices today." There was a 2.2 screenshot next to it.
Is there a substitute for CM7's phone goggles that is compatible with 10.2?
The only thing that eats battery on my Gnex is Display and 3G.

with android you can technology multitask the open source to the next level
I remember when phones that ran android were advertised as "smartphone with Google"

And SoC, and GPS.
Things have gone far since the days of 45nm.
So I'm studying for a mid-term and somehow ended up on this thread, I don't remember how, but this weird bug keeps activating GPS randomly, it's not bothering me, and it keeps having the icon on my screen. I'll check what's going on after mid-terms.
S4 uses so much battery on the screen, or everything else uses fuck all power in comparison. Lowest possible brightness is so bright at night, have to use a screen filter to halve it again.
