Android Thread - The only phones with patented Kernel Panic™ technology!

If you want a top end phone, IIRC the only ones that meet those specs is the Galaxy S4/Note 3.
If you're looking to buy unlocked and you're not on Verizon, forgo the SD slot and removable battery and get a nexus 5 later this month
The only thing I don't like about my phone is either I deal with Google's shit on 4.3, or I deal with Samsung's shit on 4.1. And with a lack of proper drivers on 4.3 my phone liked to reboot without warning with several ROMs and kernels.
Wait till you get 4.3 and sense 5.5. That shit is awesome.
I hate GMail being unable to download zip files.
Wow, I just read up on the changes, looks pretty damn great

stock (Nexus) Android launcher master race. I don't even use pages 1 and [del]2[/del] 5. They're just there, but I never went to them :v:

I would have to switch to a new carrier if I did that on my plan.

I had a screenshot of me using 20GB of data on Verizon (I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan) but couldn't fine it, so instead have this:

My cousin had a grandfathered plan. I don't know if he still does. :(

I've used 8GB on T-Mobile even throttled past 2GB. Pandora works flawlessly while throttled still. T-Mobile dropped all of their limited plans like a year ago for unlimited with a cap where you are simply throttled past the cap. Their previous "unlimited" 2GB with a throttle plan has been $10 since before 2010 when I got this phone and they rolled out HSPA.
I installed a Touchwiz ROM, I didn't install Nova launcher, and I like it. Come at me #holoyolo.

I don't get why people make it sound like liking Touchwiz makes them oppressed.
Anything Samsung-related is in the vast majority. The fact that Samsung is ruling the smartphone space is proof of that. The fact that the installed user base of custom ROMs is no more than 1% of total Galaxy sales means that most people use Touchwiz. If Touchwiz was really that unbearable to the general public, Samsung wouldn't be where they are today.

TouchWiz launcher is cringeworthy. What possible reason would you have to use it?

Main reason they are popular is because of marketing and hardware. Most people are too lazy, uninformed or stupid to install third party software/custom ROMs.
TouchWiz as a framework isn't that bad and most of the apps are pretty good (calculator is mega shit). The theme is not sexy though.

But once again, if Touchwiz was really that bad, people wouldn't buy Samsung phones.

There are people out there that like the look of Touchwiz. Even in /r/android there are plenty of people that love every bit of Touchwiz and will proceed to flame you to death if you suggest that it isn't good.

There's just a point where I stop giving a shit about how my phone works and looks. Does it turn on? Can I use it to text my buddies? Does the camera work?
Beyond that, I have simply stopped giving a shit. Everything I did with Nova I can do in Touchwiz aside from set gestures and icon packs. It doesn't look like shit, either, because all I do is wallpaper + clock widget + 5 icon dock (including shortcut to open app drawer).

It really isn't. It launches apps, it doesn't lag unless you load 30+ widgets onto it (i.e. samsung default homescreen setup.)

This proves my point perfectly.
I may prefer Sense over TW UX any day of the week, but I'm willing to compromise because Touchwiz isn't completely unusable.

Customization - Android's strength and weakness. Besides, the AOSP camera app is garbage compared to the TW one, at least in features. And I need high quality cat photos.

Yeah, one of the many perks of using a TW based ROM is that I get to use the stock camera instead of the AOSP camera which is heaps more powerful.

I only use mobile data for web browsing so thanks to Onavo Extend my 2 GB data plan is virtually unlimited.
My friend has a 2gb data plan that's more like a 6gb plan because his provider can't count
According to android, he's used 2gb of data. According to his provider's app, he's used 400mb :v:

He probably has a plan where FaceBook data traffic doesn't count or something similar.

I doubt his plan gives him free Reddit and imgur access :v:
I like how when I actually run something like RR3, the true nominal clock speed of the CPU is 1.1 GHz and the true nominal clock of the GPU is 320 MHz. Apparently Samsung has to drop CPU as low as .918 GHz on the S4.
Hey guys, my trusty old Desire HD is slowly beginning to die (crashes, freezes here and there). I've been looking at some phones today and the one that has caught my eye because of its good ratings and specs is the Google Nexus 4. Any thoughts on it? Good or bad phone? Or are there any other good androids out there right now for a moderate price but great performance?

Wait the week and get a Nexus 5. You won't regret it.
