I may need to learn to curb my data usage a bit. Dammit Google Music. There is virtually no Wifi except at home and at school. And the time I'm using the most data is while driving. :v:
The mystical powers of local storage may aid you

Actually, it may help, but won't eliminate it. A lot of the music I decide to stream at a moments notice and don't even own (I'm mildly addicted to All-Access). I guess I'll just need to be more proactive about pinning songs.
I did at least have the forsight of pinning a playlist of 3 days worth of music which takes up ~7-8 GB.
What the fuuuckkkk Youtube has reset all my subscriptions
It was like "hey, try gamegrumps, you might like it" and I was confused because i've been subbed since day 1, so I check and it's unsubbed me from every single channel
not specifically android related but Google related
[editline]23rd October 2013[/editline]
Oh wait it was because I was logged in to my google account not my youtube account for whatever reason, phew
that decision was still a poor one, making them merge
Is CWM 6.0.4.3 broken for anyone else, in terms of no baseband when you flash?
[editline]23rd October 2013[/editline]
Yep, it definitely is CWM, TWRP works just fine.

I liked that they merged, meant I only needed one email.
So my phone provider just got shanked by Telstra and cut their data cap from 5gb to 2.5gb
There are now essentially no good data providers in Australia

do you get throttled or charged extra if you go over the cap? if that's the latter, yeah, that sucks big time :/
if that's just throttled, that's actually pretty decent i think, here in france it's 3GB and after that, throttling to 128kbps (15kb/s) or even 64 depending on your provider
I don't even have a data plan, only phone and SMS :c

Neither, once you go over the 2.5gb in the "Unlimited" plan, it starts eating into your prepaid credit at 5c/MB
Yeah, a recent thing springing up is these stupidly cheap prepaid plans with absolutely nothing on them, but really well priced "bolt ons" that make it on par with most contracts, but without the forced contract
I'm with Sprint and have Unlimited Data/Texting; but I have only 700 or so calling minutes; which is fine by me since I don't talk on the phone all that often.
It's crazy how much data I go through though, I'm the type of person who uses a 4g connection constantly on a daily basis.
I use Hangouts with like, one dude, and that's it.
Then again, I don't really hang out with people like that, if you actually want to have a legitimate conversation with me, either catch me on IRC, PM me somewhere, send me an email or just talk to me in real life.
I currently only use Hangouts for one person
I use Steam for about 3
I now use BBM for like 5
I used to use WhatsApp with 5
I use SMS for 8
I rarely use Skype, only for company group meetings and occasional messaging for others
My data usage hit 12 gigs one month. Grandfathered unlimited plan on VZW.
Sadly, they're taking it away this upcoming contract cycle and my mom refuses to switch.
I might end up gatting an N5 and seeing if it works on Ting and just get my own fucking plan. I have wifi most places I go, including my dorm, and most of the wifi dead spots around campus are when I'm in class, so I don't use it anyway.
Anyone have any horror stories about Sprint or Ting?
I wish people would use a standard app for messaging/texting. It drives me crazy that l have a bunch of apps just to keep in touch with some people.

supposedly the 4.4 Hangouts app is gonna integrate SMS and Hangouts, so there's that.
Having a way to add protocols to one messaging app (similar to adding emails to your gmail account/other email client) would've been so much better though.
Nobody I know uses SMS anymore.

So lets say im not on wifi or 3g, will it use sms to send messages and show up on hangouts..?

At least you don't have Verizon's $1.99/mb for data overages
edit: Guess they changed that. Must be for non-smartphones I'm thinking of
AT&T GoPhone is pretty good. I get really good coverage in my area (Rhode Island), unlimited messaging and calling plus 2 gb of data for like $65 a month. Downsides are that the speeds are kind of slow since they're hspa+ and not as fast as T-Mobile and there's less customer support. Also you have to have either an unlocked phone or buy an unlocked phone from att obviously. But I think they might have added lte or are adding it soon to GoPhone. Really good value for an American carrier not on a contract.
How well does Black Berry Messenger work on Android so far? i have it but no contacts to test it with.
I have four people on BBM right now, it works really well. Everything is as snappy as I remember it on my old BlackBerry.

Why do I get the feeling Samsung's gonna use this opportunity to fuse their sms app with ChatOn or w/e Samsung calls their chat service?

Probably along the lines of SChat or S-something, and you're probably right.

I didn't believe you guys when you said samsung backs were cheap. Then I got a hold of my brothers S4.
Its not even a month old and is already split in half with tons of dents on it. My S2 back is still pristine. Seriously when you pay $500+ for a phone, you would think they would put more effort into the back plate design/material.
