LG has patents on software that makes a phone run ten times slower than a phone with the same hardware from another OEM. Nobody else is allowed to cause the same degree of slowdown.
I heard that if you install something like Cyanogen mod to get rid of their ROM with the slow feature they might sue you... Just a rumor though.
[sp]I'm just playing along, I know nothing about LG android phones :v[/sp]
All I can think of is THANK GOD the majority of population in this country has no idea how to change the font (even if it's a settings parameter in Samsung ROMs).
I think the majority don't care and don't mind the standard font.
So apparently using Greenify and Hibernating Bacon Reader, causes my i9300 to crash. Only happens when I hibernate Bacon Reader.

Dropped my new S4 today and got a scratch on the screen. It's only light, but fairly big, and can only be seen in one type of light. On the other hand, I have a nice screen protector and case coming. And I still can't believe my eyes on the quality of this image. (Taken with the S4)

Just know that auto mode will trigger low light if it's dark enough. If it does, you basically cannot move/need a tripod for those shots.
Also I'd comment on the image but I can't actually look at the 100% crop. Zoomed out it seems quite nice though.
Whelp, now I'm getting a subtle hissing sound whenever I play audio from my HTC One. It was fine earlier today, since then all I've done is load a ton more music onto it and started using poweramp (the hissing is happening outside of the app, however). Is my DAC fucked or something?
I have this barely irresistible urge to smash my LG Optimus 3D to the ground each and every single time I use it. Every key I type on the keyboard has a random delay of even vibrating. Usually the first letter is fast, but the third letter I type takes 500ms to a second. If I type even slightly fast, the end of the second word will take a second or two to appear.
I've seen the homescreen take a full minute to load the icons, several times! It went like this:
- press home
- takes a while
- Hey guys look at this shit phone
- guys stare
- "Duuuuuude that is taking ages"
I don't even have to hurry to show them how fucking slow it is. When I notice that it has already taken long to load the icons, I still have plenty of time to turn it around, grab my friends' attention and get them to look at it and they will still see that it's slow.
LG and updates
Take years and years to make an update, and when you finally release ICS in February 2013, it's as slow as I just described and the 3D camera is fucked up and barely works anymore.
Oh Falco, why don't you buy another bloody phone then?
I fucking did, but the HTC won't arrive until the 17th-20th of May.
Edit:
I smashed my phone to bits in a dream I had, but I felt really guilty afterwards. It felt really good for just a small moment, though.
That was my HTC phone a year ago. 256 MB of RAM while running Gmail, Messaging, and Exchange really wasn't cutting it. God forbid you browse Facepunch. You could read the posts at the same time it was rendering each one.

I don't know if you're just catching on to the hiss. How bad is it? I know that I could definitely hear it on just about every phone I've ever used, there would always be a slight click a few seconds after audio stopped too.

hah i kinda liked this
but it's kinda weird at the end
"Well, we're the only two in the world with Windows Phones, so maybe..."
"Android vs iOS flamewars suck - So buy our shitty phone with a closed OS that hates developers, ensuring nobody will ever make apps for it"
Just go to the WP8 thread and you'll understand why it's not going to go anywhere.
Been running CM10 on my Note for months now, but the 4.2 updates pretty much killed it. Everything crashes now.

Whether you like WP7/8 or not, it runs great on low-end devices. Android is a nice OS, but even on a dual-core it can run fairly badly depending on who made the phone. WP7/8 is great for the general consumer; you get a consistent experience, and if you don't care much about flashing, jailbreaking or whatever it'll be great for you.

Yeah, but WP8 just blows imo.

Well, you have the right to have an opinion. I personally disagree.

The idea is great. The crashes from out of memory allocation, piss poor search function, terrible stock camera app, complete lack of decent multiclient IM, horrible battery diagnostics, and dysfunctional autobrightness soured the whole experience for me.
The platform is stupidly restrictive, so independent developers will never pick it up, and it has no market share, so large businesses will either only dedicate a small team to a port, or not do it at all.

The fact alone that WP8 is worse to develop for than the negative sides of iOS and Android development combined is the true dealbreaker for me.
What's the point of a smartphone if there's no apps actually taking advantage of it?
It'll just be a over-geared featurephone and nothing more then.

On the flip side, I really just love how insanely smooth it is and the insanely good custom camera apps. ProShot seriously makes it possible for me to pull off indoor photos with nearly 0 noise. I just bracket the exposure time until I'm just short of overexposing, the detail seriously blows me away.

Also I'm digging 'dat 73 GB dropbox space.

Yeah, Just like Windows on desktops has been great for competition. The only reason WP is any good is because they have to fight to keep it alive.
Microsoft can't be trusted with a majority share in anything, they'll fuck it up like they did the desktop.

What does this even have to do with anything I wrote? I wouldn't like a Microsoft monopoly on mobile OSs, but I don't see that happening anyway.

I was originally posting about WP not being great for the consumer then I remembered that it's in fierce competition (ignoring Microsoft's stupid marketing) with Android and iOS so that didn't really make any sense so I ended up with a post that didn't really say anything.
I just realized that because when you replace the S3's screen you replace half the fucking phone, I could get a black front bezel and then order a black battery door off ebay, and transform it on to a black galaxy S3

Notifications too. Holy fuck the toast notifications bugged me on my Focus. Especially when for some reason an app wouldn't be pushing messages so at some point I'd get fifty banners that I'd have to swipe away one by one, with a delay between each being displayed.

Try scrolling through settings or the launcher without taking your finger off the display. It makes an HTC Wildfire feel like an iPhone 5 in comparison. I dunno what it is, but Microsoft's method for touch input is behind even Android when it comes to trying to animate and do touch input at the same time.
