also remember that since its a 2.3 s800 rather than 2.2 everyone's getting high bin rather than the assortment that was the n4
I never said you did, I just couldn't find a online review praising it at all.
That's because reviewers are scared to criticize Touchwiz, so they take it out on LG UI because it's an easy target.

We need a ton of reviewers to be super critical and give no devices good reviews, but be able to back the claims, that would be very interesting to see.

I feel like phone reviews are all judged to a standard and said standard is reset every "generation". Unless a phone comes out with something better than the current S4/One it is bad. The S4's camera is nothing special and honestly I was incredibly disappointed in the quality of photos it took.
It just seemed adequate enough for a current gen cell phone camera to me. I could find literally like nothing bad about it while there's nothing but reviewer bitching about the G2 camera burning whites, ect.

That's a defect. You can get it fixed under warranty.
I can't believe you hate your mom that much!!
My brother bought it without asking me, he knows fuck all about Android.. I mean come on, a beaten up Nexus 7 2012 would've been a better choice.
What tablet was that? :v:
GoClever TAB T76GPS. Only buy it if you hate yourself.
If the nexus 5 came out on the 1st of November, how long do you think it would take to become available on UK carriers?
how long do you think it would take to become available on UK carriers?
Did any UK carriers stock the Nexus 4? Here they all avoided it since they weren't allowed to touch the software.

Most of them did I think. I got mine from O2.

UK carriers got stock when the Google Play store did. I was forced to get mine from a carrier because the Play Store ran out of stock.

Ahhh ok. Yeah here the 3 major carriers put out press releases saying they weren't going to stock the Nexus 4, and later found out from Telstra it was because they weren't allowed to test it on their network or put their software on it.
Bought mine from a physical retail shop.
Looks like Motorola figures out to make Phonebloks. Looks like each block has to go in a specific place, so, it's possible.

Holy shit, that's really cool!
this is what happens when Google aquires a hardware company.
[editline]29th October 2013[/editline]
But, as an idea, it'a not that insane. Think about how PC gamers upgrade their hardware. PC's are essentially modular.
The thing that would make this happen for real would be using standard connectors. Using USB 2 or 3 to connect the modules would make the platform more open and useful, and less of a gimmick.
Sadly, I don't see an idea this revolutionary using standards...
Laptops are the analogue to smartphones as Aura is the analogue to desktops. It'll be big and bulky if it isn't going to be awful.
So, I'm new to smartphones and I'm waiting for the Google Nexus 5 to be released. I have to ask: why is it so cheap compared to something like Samsung Galaxy S4?

Google sells it at-cost. This means they make no money off of the sale of the hardware. They barely break even.

Great choice, by the way. I'm jelly.

I can't imagine this concept working with Android in its current state.. AFAIK it has to be compiled for each set of hardware separately, with the drivers and all that.
If Android had modular driver packages, that would be a whole different story.
Come to think about it, don't all current phone operating systems work this way?

I read here that they just want to popularize the Android platform, not make profit. Which is great. I find the Nexus 5 to be superior to other smartphones and its half the price.
I will wait for some reviews to surface, though. I want something that I can use for many years.

To add to what sdwise said, Google makes money off people using their services (buying things on the Google Play store, buying subscriptions to services, etc). More people using their devices, means that people are more likely to use their services. However, Google makes most of their money off ad revenue so I'm sure that's a nice benefit, not their main goal.
All nexus devices are designed to push the ecosystem
Notice how all of the ads show off google features, rather than iPhone ads which show app store apps
The Google+ event live feed, feel like I need to upgrade my internet connection just to feed the comments area it's going so fast......so many people waiting for Android
They do realize that there isn't going to be a device announced during that, right?
from the amounts of "KITKAT" and "HOLOYOLO" happening in the comments, I would say no.......it's like the Play Store event last week all over again.
